  1. Just my opinion, but I think they went too far the other way in changing the voting. Having the voting stay open overnight was ridiculous, but they could/should have changed it to where voting ends, say, 2 hours after it airs(ends) on the west coast. That way, everyone who wants to vote(especially those who prefer to actually see the dances they are voting on) gets the opportunity to do so.

  2. Group B:

Ladybug-Vanna White was the name that popped in my head because of the spin wheel, but I don't think it's actually her.

Rottweiler-Well, that was a surprise! Dang, he was really good! After the original clues I thought it might be Snoop Dogg, but now I don't think it is. I'll agree with the judges that it's probably a boybander.

I have no ideas about either Tree or Ice Cream <shrug>

What do they do if there's a tie in the smackdown?

  3. Just watching now, and want to get my thoughts in before I see any results, so here goes...

    Group A:

Butterfly-Nice way to open the show. I'm thinking she's an older soul singer, but no idea who.

Egg-Shaun White immediately came to mind when I saw his size and the skateboard, but I don't think he's that flamboyant.  Johnny and Adam are good guesses.

Thingamajig-I'm thinking he's an Orlando Magic Basketball player who has four titles(or rings), but I'm too lazy to do the research on that right now. Whoever he is, I'm impressed.

Skeleton-Dana Carvey, Mike Myers, and Martin Short all immediately came to mind during the package.

  4. Once again, late to the party(as I always will be because I watch on delay), here are my thoughts on tonights episode...

First off, what was up with the opening segment? It was stupid.

    Now, on to the dances...

James/Emma-I really like James. His enthusiasm and energy is infectious, fun to watch, and he makes me smile.  I enjoyed this dance.  Also, his flexibility is impressive.

Sailor/Val-Technically, it looked ok, but IMO it lacked feeling.

Ray/Cheryl-Clunky and weird. I don't think he will last very long, and no, Carrie Ann, he was not fun to watch.

Ally/Sasha-I don't know what to say about this one, it was kind of meh. Scores were too high <shrug>.

Mary/Brandon-She missed some steps and there didn't seem to be a whole lot of energy, but she is 75, so...

Lauren/Gleb-Again, meh. I want dances that make me feel something, and this one didn't.

Sean/Lindsay-Definite improvement over last week, but still kind of "steppy" instead of "flowy".

Karamo/Jenna-Not bad. Lost body contact in places, but overall it was good.

Kate/Pasha-I liked this one. I am liking Pasha as a pro so far, he seems to be a really good teacher.  Kate may be a dark horse.

Kel/Witney-Other than that weird move at the end, I thought it was good.

Lamar/Peta-While he seemed to be more relaxed and having more fun tonight, it still wasn't very good.

Disclaimer-I write my comments down before I listen to the judge's comments 😂

Hannah/Alan-As much as she annoys me(not sure why, as I don't watch/follow the Bachelor/ette stuff, so don't really know anything about her), this dance was nice. Thank you, Alan, for having better hand placement during the comments.

I'm not sure I agree with Len on who he picked to save, but whatever. Ray won't last very long.

I'm reading that a lot of people on YouTube are saying that the Flamingo is Adrienne Bailon and the Black Widow is Raven Symone.

I haven't seen that about Adrienne, but I have seen a lot of speculation that Raven is the Black Widow.

Every time I see y'all suggest Michelle Williams, I think of the actress...

I didn't grow up watching Disney channel, so I have little background with any Disney kids. I have liked some of them, especially that one young man early on, I think he came in 3rd. I just can't remember his name and am too lazy to look him up.

    Kyle Massey?

  7. Yay, it's finally back(and holy crap, there are a ton of comments already that I won't read until after I post)!

Before I get to the dances, I have to say that I am glad that they seem to be going back to their roots, and having more focus (and the lower scores back) on/for technique, and that we will get to see two dances before someone is eliminated. Curious as to what the elimination twist will be.

    Now, on to the dances...

Hannah/Alan-Not bad for the first dance. I don't watch/follow any of The Bachelor/ette shows so I don't really know who she is, other than hearing her name before. Slightly OT, though, Alan's hand needs to move down a little bit(placement during the comments).

Kel/Witney-He seemed a little stiff, missed a grab(or two), and at times there was too much space between them. All that being said, he seems to have potential, and we will see if he improves through the season.

Kate/Pasha-Well, at least she seemed to be having fun. The dance was kind of clunky and awkward.

Lamar/Peta-I think Lindsay would have been a better pro for him-she seems to have a knack for working with the taller celebs. This dance wasn't very good, Carrie Ann's smoking something again <shrug>.

Lauren/Gleb-Wow, is it just me, or is she kind of annoying? I did like the dance, though, I think she did a good job on it.

Sailor/Val-Poor Christie! 😞 For 3 days' practice, Sailor did a decent job. Shut up, Val!

Let me just say, I love Tom!

Karamo/Jenna-That was fun, he was having a good time, but I agree with the judges on this one.

Who thought that rolling chairs would be a good idea for CA and Bruno?! It will be interesting to see if that changes next week! 🙂

Ray/Cheryl-What did I just watch? That was...not good.

Mary/Brandon-Hmm, I guess I didn't see what the judges saw on this one. I wasn't impressed.

Ally/Sasha-The dance was full of energy. I thought she did a decent job.

Sean/Lindsay-Well, it wasn't completely horrible, and good for Lindsay for wanting to form her own opinion on him.

James/Emma-I am currently watching Don't Trust the B**** in Apt. 23, and I have to say that I love his self-depreciating sense of humor. This was hands-down my favorite dance of the night!

    Eagle is Alice Cooper, maybe?

For me, Eagle's clues immediately brought to mind either Steven Tyler or Axl Rose, but would either of them actually do this show?

Could the Leopard be one of the other Pussycat Dolls?

Fox-Deadshot? Will Smith? But again, would he do this show?

Flower-I got a racing vibe, and she's female, so here's a way out there guess-Danica Patrick?

Rottweiler-Here's another way out there guess, but Snoop Dogg? (He's known to be a perfectionist, so...)

  9. Thoughts on this episode...

Well, I thought it was better than last week's episode, but that's not really saying much.

Gabrielle-Holy side-boob, Batman! I spent the episode hoping there wouldn't be a wardrobe malfunction.

Charlotte-I agree with the judges on this one-while she has an amazing voice, the song choice was horrible.

Nick and Lindsay-WTH was that?! So many things wrong...

Chris Klafford-I couldn't understand half of what he was singing, and if he was singing about his grandmother, then some of the lyrics were somewhat awkward, imo(thank you closed captioning).

Marina Mazepa-Way too much going on in the background, and I'm with Simon on this one-it was kind of boring.

Robert Finley-I enjoyed his previous songs more <shrug>. That being said, he is an inspiration, and I really enjoy his personality and energy. I hope he makes it through.

The Sentimentalists-Why the hell were they given a wild card spot? Their act drags and is not entertaining.

Ryan Neimiller-He's funny, and I like him and his self-depreciating humor, but I think he needs to start mixing it up a little bit.

    V. Unbeatable-I have to say, they are pretty impressive.

Joseph Allen-I didn't see his audition, and this performance did nothing for me.

Light Balance Kids-Wasn't great, wasn't horrible

Tyler Butler-Figueroa-Another one whose audition I didn't see. What was the purpose of him standing on the piano? As far as I could tell he played well-kind of brought Lindsey Stirling to mind.

Ndlovu Youth Choir-I have to admit that I got tired and FF'd through this one. Maybe I'll go back and watch it tomorrow...

I usually skip the judge commentary, but I thought that I should sit through it for a change - never let me think such a thing again. It may have been from the show seeming to have gone on forever, but for real, I felt depressed as hell when it was over. The show was boring, but not even really that bad, which is the worst kind, because I can't come up with a damn thing to say about it. Gabrielle looked like such a truffle - hubba. On another note - how on (flat) Earth is Julianne only 31? I remember thinking she was 35 when I saw one of her commercials over 10 years ago.

Dominguez Poodles - I refer to MJ's Big Blog to copy/paste the names of the acts and she's repeatedly used the most annoying word ever (doggo), which only makes me hate this act more than I did while watching. I don't like dogs to begin with, so these acts never win me over, but it seems the kids being there added absolutely nothing, so the idea of this being a family act is hardly accurate. These kinds of acts always opening the show is rather telling, since the opening act always has a particular vibe to it that is lacking in depth - usually along the lines of everyone standing up and clapping along. If they are in the mood for new dog tricks, I wish they would teach the Mother to sit (on my head).

DM Nation - I thought it was a decent act, though they barely showed anything, so you already knew that they'd be going home. Simon complaining about them being cold is hardly a fair critique, since living somewhere where it's -40 for half the year in a place that has never wanted to be a part of Canada doesn't exactly breed liveliness. Pointless remark aside, I know what he means, since all that jumping around isn't necessarily entertaining if everyone has an Easter Island statue level of emotion painted on their face.

Ben Trigger - (Trigger warning) Seeing this guy makes me afraid of having a son, especially since possessing my skeletal midget genes means I have zero manliness to pass along. The amount of people who actually want to see this are probably fewer than the membership total of the official Forte fan club, yet everyone in the audience is clapping as if they hope he goes on. If he's in a career related to exercise and is still that fat, it's hard to imagine him doing anything other than tippy toed jumping in ballet shoes to reach the cookie jar. Do acts like him actually see themselves as serious contenders or do they all have a fetish (or possibly mental disorder) that compels them to go on national TV and embarrass themselves? On another note, can Terry Crews provide something other than interrupting the act to cut to him cooing as if he's sampling yogurt at Costco (oohhh!)?

Nicholas Connors - Don't know who this was and I am better off because of it.

Jordan Ravi - I don't remember if his audition was shown, but it was OK for what it was I guess.

Benicio Bryant - Once again I thought this was a girl. The original song was actually good for once, which is incredibly rare on a show that has usually has me power-napping every few minutes. Him going through was the right call.

Victor Moiseev - A montage act is never a good sign, even though the act looked much more entertaining to watch than a fat old singer.

Marina Mazepa - I thought this was pure crap. Her wriggling on the pole looked like an alien's idea of how to seduce a man, though I remained at not even half mast throughout. If by some miracle she ended up doing a Vegas show or whatever, I bet the lack of judges' table to jump on and make funny faces would expose the act as boring.

Charlotte Summers - For her own sake, I hope she wins so she can have a full career before British old age sets in at 19 (seriously, they age terribly). I am not a fan of these kinds of songs, mainly because I am against the idea of teaching single women that they could do much better than me. I know 13 year olds aren't going to say the most mature things, but I don't see where the humor is in that guinea pig routine - hehe, I'm going to name him Simon Cowell! I thought Kara held the copyright to all things unfunny, but she has competition.

Callie Day - Be prepared to spit out your Ovaltine all over your computer screen, because I actually thought this was decent. I know the market for this is nonexistent, but it's my one decent praise for the season. I guess why this was better than every other old singer was because (other than the obvious talent), there was emotion in it that wasn't derived from childhood boo boos or an old woman trying to be sassy or whatever. Most of the time, it seems these old acts just sing some boring soul music that nobody would give a damn about, so it's no wonder it's usually lame.

    Zack & Stan - I don't think I saw this, but with such a generic name, I don't imagine I missed much.

    SOS - I saw nothing.

Kara with a K - I thought her act was being the world's oldest 37 year old, because God damn, she looks like a 79 year old lunch lady. A lot of (attempted) comediennes on here seem to confuse being loud and annoying with a routine, but I suppose they can't be faulted when there are somehow hundreds of people in attendance egging the crap on. I make jokes all the damn time and I never start talking in "that voice" as if I'm announcing to everyone in the room that I'm a comedian - every female comedian on here does that and it's usually all bark, no bite. Garbage.

Emanne Beasha - I can hardly absorb the song (not like I want to anyways) when I spend the whole act trying to decipher what language it's being sung in. Opera may be my least favorite type of act ever, so I wasn't a fan and I don't imagine many other people are.

Eric Chien - With his tendency to make coins disappear, it's no wonder why Japanese wives are in charge of the man's money. It was a good act, and even though every magic act is more or less the same thing, he had a good presentation compared to arrogant douche with gelled hair and infomercial esque microphone on gesturing to the audience with every trick. Obviously people will compare him to Shin Lim, who obviously is great, but the way everyone talks about him, you would think he's untouchable or something, which I don't agree with.

Voices of Service - When these acts are prefaced with 5 minutes of (hold for applause), it just gets me annoyed; will you just focus on the act, please? Talent wise, I think they were possibly the most boring singing act of the night.

Jonathan (crashes and) Burns - Not like his first audition was good, but this was really crappy. These silly auditions almost never work a second time, especially since the first time is all laughter from the judges and then they come back to repeat the same painful act and they all have their game faces on wondering where the spark is.

Jackie Fabulous - I've used her name as a comparison to mediocrity many times since her audition, though I didn't laugh at the routine, I could see how some of it could be funny, so it wasn't really all that bad. I was trying really hard to hear what she was saying because it sounded like she was talking at 2x speed, so that ruined part of it too.

I'm not going to list who went through as if I'm doing a Dick Clark impersonation, since you watched the show, but damn this show was so boring because it was just a consistent 3/10 instead of having any highs or any true lows that were worth getting angry about and I had nothing to say at all. If Julianne's advanced aging only started since judging the show, now I know why I have crows feet after watching it.

InternetToughGuy, we seem to follow some of the same shows and your commentary always amuses me, so thank you for that.

Count me among those who thought that Benicio was a girl until I saw his name(I didn't see his auditition show-this was the first time I had seen him).

I am relatively new to this show, and I am confused/bothered by one thing. The winner gets a headline show in Vegas, right? So I look at the auditions as "is this something I would want to see/listen to for a complete show?" and with that being the case, I don't see how some of the acts went through(opera girl) while others(Victor) didn't. <shrug>

I hope that this show manages to get picked up somewhere else, I am super bummed at its cancellation. It was such a fun, breezy kind of show that is perfect for Spring or Summer, and its so filled with tropes, that its almost revolutionary in its lack of irony.

That is to say, it was just a fun show with good actors playing likable characters to awesome covers of song, and I am sad that it never got a chance. I mean, how do networks expect to build an audience for a show if they cancel everything so quickly?

Yes to all this. I mean, why do I bother getting invested in a new show anymore, when they're never given a chance? In this day and age of watching on delay via Hulu or other sites, real time ratings shouldn't matter as much as they used to.

  12. I don't think I've ever been so happy to be able to FF...

IMO, Laine is more marketable to AI, so once Madison got knocked out I figured he would be the winner.

I do have to say that I'm surprised Madison was third, I honestly thought she might win.

Am I the only one that isn't really impressed with Alejandro's lyrics? To me, Millennial Love was millennial crap, but maybe I'm just showing my age <shrug>.

  13. Out of the top 5, those were the three I saw staying.

I don't usually care for Alejandro, but I actually enjoyed his first two songs tonight. As far as his third song goes, his piano playing was impressive.

I've finally figured out what bothers me about Laine, besides the fact that he doesn't open his mouth when he talks. When he sings, his eyes look vacant and he almost seems to be bored while he's performing.

I was happy to finally see Madison show some emotion/connection with her last song.

I'm not going to comment on Wade and Laci's performances as it is now irrelevant.

I am unaware of a Caleb Lee Hutchinson LOL.   Must have been during my missed years....which I think started the year after Caleb Johnson.

Caleb Lee Hutchinson was the runner-up to Maddie Poppe last season. He's the one that did the duet with her on Disney week this season.

  15. Random thoughts...

This was not Madison's best night, plus the pony-swishing during her first song got a little annoying after a while.

What is Lionel's thing with jackets?

Creepy audience guy is creepy. Why were they making him a focal point through the night? He kind of reminded me of Jim Carrey from the Dumb and Dumber days.

I didn't care for Alejandro's version of White Rabbit, and of course he does an original for the showstopper round <eyeroll>. I've grown tired of his schtick.

What was the criteria for the showstopper round songs, anyway? They mostly seemed like regular songs to me...

Wade finally found a song that works with his voice.

I just still don't get what everybody else seems to hear when Laci sings <shrug>.

Jeremiah's song choices were...interesting.  I think that hurt him, along with the fact that Idol has just never really seemed like the right platform for him.

Laine's first song was forgettable, but Johnny B. Goode was fun and I thought he did good on it.

Katy needs to grow up. Her antics are very tiresome.
