  1. Where @lulu1960 leads, I will follow! 29, 30 and 31
  2. @Kohola3, you didn't think that my statement was snotty, right? Just checking! Drinking as much coffee as Lorelai makes me a little paranoid, lol :) @Taryn74 and @navelgazer, that's a great idea! I'll try to think of some, which will be a fun alternative to working.
  3. Did anyone else spend way too much time thinking of their answers? If only I cared as much about my actual job, lol. We have a lot of the same answers! But not all, which is why threads like this are so interesting :) Seasons: 3, 1, 4, 2, 5, 7, 6, 8 Sisters: Piper, Phoebe, Paige, Prue, but I totally agree that the original power of three worked a lot better even though I relate a little more to Paige as an individual character. Favorite sister relationship: Piper and Phoebe. I mentioned why in the unpopular opinions thread :) Favorite romantic relationship: Take heart in knowing there are at least three of us who still love Piper and Leo and always will :) This was the easiest category to vote in for me, not just because of how much I love Piper and Leo but because of how indifferent I am to the other couples on this show. Favorite 15 episodes: And this was the hardest category! My instinct was to list at least 50, not 15. The Truth Is Out There, Pardon My Past, Ex Libris, All Halliwell's Eve, Just Harried, Pre-Witched, Sin Fransisco, Lost and Bound, Saving Private Leo (am I the only person in the history of Charmed fandom to list this one as a favorite? :)), Long Live the Queen, Centennial Charmed, Sand Fransisco Dreamin, The Day the Magic Died, Imaginary Friends, Forever Charmed
  4. Aw, I love that so many Gilmore Girls fans have made our way over here - there really is a fandom overlap! I share a few unpopular opinions with others here, so it's nice to know they're not all as unpopular as previously assumed :) I love this show much more than Buffy and Angel. Critics and most other TV lovers would be horrified by that. Like someone else said, I just connect with these characters and their stories so much more, and it's more enjoyable for me to rewatch. I love Piper so much. Like someone else said, she's not just my favorite sister but one of my favorite fictional characters. I even love how high-strung and irritable she can be, and while I definitely understand why that would annoy people and get them down, those flaws are part of why I relate to her so well and, to me, a sign of how deeply she cares. Piper and Leo are one of my favorite TV couples! In fact, aside from Gilmore Girls' Luke and Lorelai, I can't think of a couple I love more. I can expand on this somewhere else if anyone is curious. And like LL, Piper and Leo were given too many exhausting obstacles by restless writers as the series wore on, but they couldn't kill my love for Piper and Leo or make me believe that they ever stopped loving each other. To me they have one of the deepest, most beautiful connections I've seen between a TV couple. I love Phoebe - even after Cole comes on the scene. It's not until somewhere near the end of the fourth or fifth season that I start to get why she's the most disliked sister among fans, but even then I never hate her, maybe because I still insist on seeing the Phoebe I loved so much at the beginning. My favorite sister relationship is the one between Piper and Phoebe. I don't think I've seen anyone else here who feels that way? I just feel like they have the strongest bond and a lot of interesting differences that mesh and balance each other rather than clashing. I'm among those who likes Paige because I've decided who I think she should be, not because I think the writers had a clear and consistent idea of who she was. I love what Prue adds to the sibling dynamic and agree with those who admire a lot about her, but she's probably the hardest sister for me to personally connect to. The third season is my very favorite, above even 1 and 2. That seems unpopular here, but I do love 1 and 2 - and most of 4 and 5 - too! I also think there was a lot of focus on romance even before Cole arrived in S3, and don't even let me go on about the dreadful love triangle that dominated S2. So while I'm not a huge fan of Cole, S3 didn't feel as significant a change for me as it did for others. I liked Patty more than the very popular Grams :) I don't think anyone I know watches this show, and even if they do they probably don't love it nearly as much as I do, so it's such a treat to find you all!
  5. Have you all decided what you're playing next? I'm already excited!
  6. 4 for the win!
  7. This was one of the only B99 episodes I caught this season, so maybe I would have appreciated it more if I had been watching the rest of the season in order. As it is, I was just kind of "eh." B99's humor, like Parks', tends to be a little too silly for me. I see why people love it, but it's just not the type of humor that usually clicks for me. I usually love more clever, sharp humor than we get from Mike Schur's post-Office shows. Jake and Amy...another unpopular "eh" from me. I have no complaints about them, but their relationship never felt really natural to me and I haven't been able to feel invested in them. And Gina is still the worst. Not just the worst character on this show, but one of the worst characters I've seen on any show. I'm used to not liking one or two charcters on my shows and still loving the overall show anyway, but Gina is enough to ruin B99 for me. Mike Schur loves this sort of character: mean for no reason, lazy, rude, ungrateful and arrogant but loved by everyone anyway, always wins and triumphs without even trying, supposed to be funny but really isn't, and is usually proven to know more than everyone else. It was April on Parks and Gina on this show, and the one nice thing I can say about Gina is that she's so unbelievably terrible that it made me soften my stance on April, who isn't nearly as bad by comparison. I love the idea of this show and a couple of the characters, but I just can't love it no matter how much I want to. Maybe I'd feel differently if Gina disappeared forever.
  8. I consider myself a huge fan and know NONE of the above! SOS! Can we have hints? I would love to keep going with this game.
  9. @Melancholy, these are perfect! I'm a little jealous to find other people who are so much better at analyzing LL than I am, but I consider myself very lucky to have found you guys ;)
  10. This is such a fun game! LOL, I love how I can tell how much you dislike Lorelai just by your question, @junienmomo, even if I hadn't read your other posts! I will choose Luke asking Lorelai out earlier. Much earlier, preferably back in S1 around Double Date or Donna Reed, but as a LL fan, I'm probably biased! Would you rather have gotten to meet - or at least learn more about - Luke's mother or Luke's father?
  11. Those are such great additions, @Melancholy! Your last one reminded me of the fact that they have a soft spot for oddballs in part because they're both oddballs, both full of quirks and not fully feeling part of the mainstream (and, in Lorelai's case, the life that she was allegedly supposed to lead)
  12. I think I need to start a "Lorelai is flawed but I still love her" thread since I seem to be the only person who feels that way ;) I should probably stay in the more positive threads because the constant hatred for Lorelai and the show in general kind of gets me down, but that's just my own issue! I'm writing my first fanfic so I want to try to focus on the aspects of the show I love :) But you all really are the smartest and most perceptive fans on the web, and it's been great talking to you!
  13. As I catch up on threads, I keep seeing people point out that Lorelai and Christopher have a lot more in common than LL, and while LC have some superficial similarities, I don't think I agree. I figured maybe we could start a list here of things LL have in common despite seeming like opposites? They're both exceptionally hardworking They're both fiercely independent They're both the type who are truly content at home (like others have said, as much of a social butterfly as Lorelai can seem, when it comes down to it she loves spending most of her time at home in her sweats with her movies, and even says so) They're both actually very passionate, emotional people even though both go to lengths to cover that up They both question traditional authority and arbitrary rules and conventions, whether they come from Taylor, Lorelais' parents or just general expectations about how they're supposed to live their lives They both value the small things in life They both battle with their desire to mock and detach from the craziness of Stars Hollow and their families while still ultimately choosing to be a part of it and help out when they can They're both very outspoken when it comes to defending what they feel is right even if it means that others might not like them They both think Rory is a nearly perfect princess even when I strongly disagree ;) And nearly none of these also apply to Christopher, at least from my perspective. Sorry to ramble a lot, but I'm just really excited to have found this place!
  14. I would love to make a list of all their best moments! Because while I totally agree with @Kohola3 that LL's bond and chemistry were allowed to shine the brightest in S1, I'm always so happy to find that they have so many special moments in the other seasons too.
  15. @lulu1960, Luke is one of my very favorite characters on ANY show! And Lorelai is too, despite the fact that she occasionally makes me want to bang my head against my poor wall. :) And even though I'm probably more in love with their potential than some of what actually played out on the show, they're still my ultimate couple and always will be. They're just in my heart whether I want them to be or not, and no amount of ASP's plot contrivances and reminders of their sub-optimal communication can change that!
  16. @lulu1960, Do you get free refills on coffee and limitless stacks of Luke's chocolate chip pancakes at the Round Table of Optimism? If so, please save me a permanent seat! :) It's lovely to see that some are still enthusiastic about this couple despite their---and the writers'---issues. I understand the complaints completely, but I'm so inspired by LL positivity!
  17. Thanks, @FictionLover! That means a lot, especially since I'm planning to write my first LL fanfic and will need to be a little less hopelessly inarticulate than usual :) I will be mocked for this and rightly so, but to me Luke and Lorelai are a modern day Darcy and Elizabeth (Pride & Prejudice). I think a couple of other people have floated this comparison, but I'm determined to run with it ;) Lorelai and Eliabeth are both effervescent, enthusiastic, energetic and warm with a sharp and often cutting and defensive wit, a mix of determined optimism and underlying cynicism, a tendency to be too impulsive and to lash out at the wrong times and in the wrong ways, stubbornly independent and often unwilling to compromise, observant in some ways yet with an inability and perhaps unwillingness to see what's right in front of them. Luke and Darcy are both a little socially awkward and lacking in the exterior charm and superficially pleasant demeanor that both Jane Austen and ASP seem wary of. They struggle to communicate, are often blunt, introverted, obstinate, genuinely prefer to be alone than around groups of people, are easily annoyed and tend to retreat and shut down, yet are exceptionally loyal, generous and helpful. Both Darcy and Luke consistently communicate their feelings through their actions rather than words. LL and Elizabeth/Darcy both have a tendency to sabotage themselves and their connection with each other by clinging to way too much pride and stubbornness and their tendency to communicate awkwardly and insufficiently. Both couples are reluctant to acknowledge how they truly feel to themselves and each other. Both couples banter, tease, challenge each other, balance out each other's flaws and even contend with annoying family members :-) In both cases, the elder relatives of one (Lorelai, Darcy) deem the other (Luke, Elizabeth) initially unworthy due to differences in wealth and status. Both seem initially unsuited but love each other deeply and are destined to end up together no matter how many obstacles their writers throw in their way!
  18. I've been a fan of LL and the show in general for a lng time, but it's not until coming here that I finally created accounts at fanfic.net and An Archive of Our Own. You all inspire me!
  19. I still love it because it continues to capture my interest and imagination even after all these years. Even when we complain about it, I like to think it's partly because we care enough to do so, a sign that this show has wormed its way in permanently into our hearts and minds! Because this show has become such a cultural touchstone that just mentioning it has helped me connect with other people - my own mom, friends, the barista who gives me an extra extra extra large iced latte that Lorelai would approve of, and now people here on this site. Because I still think the dialogue is the best I've ever come across and has actually had a slight effect on the way that I speak and write. Because no matter how cynical I will sometimes think I've become about the show or life in general, there are still so many GG scenes that can melt my heart and fill me with happiness and a sense that life is worth celebrating.
  20. 1, but this is close to impossible!
  21. I laughed when I saw there's a thread to devoted solely to hating on Lorelai, and even though I get it and feel like if I had a dollar for every time she drives me crazy I'd have almost as much money as Emily and Richard by now, my unpopular opinion is that I think Rory is much worse. I dislike Rory so much later on that it's now hard for me to recapture the affection I had for her earlier on. I keep seeing ominous signs of what she eventually becomes and just feel like Alexis sometimes plays her with this spaced out detachment that makes her seem like less of a multi-faceted person than most of the other characters even though, like others here, I'm an introverted bibliophile who initially identified with her. Introverts work best when they're played by actors who can convey a lot of layers and a tangled mass of feelings and thoughts that they're not expressing, and even though Alexis was good in a lot of the funny scenes and when reacting to strong and abrasive characters like Paris and Jess, she didn't usually give me the sense that there was much going on beneath the surface. It's not like I think Rory necessarily has more or even worse flaws than Lorelai does, just that hers make her a lot less compelling and entertaining a character to me. Plus, Lorelai's flaws are at least somewhat acknowledged in canon while Rory is nearly always perceived as perfect by most people other than the audience. Also putting me in contention for the Miss Unpopularity crown is that I like a lot of episodes others hate purely because they'll have a few scenes, usually Luke/Lorelai, Rory/Jess or Rory/Paris scenes, that I really like. As others have said, GG is composed of some brilliant individual parts that don't always come together as a cohesive whole, so I am all about enjoying those individual scenes and ignoring the aspects of the show that fall short, lol. As a result, I will find myself rewatching scenes from episodes like Kiss and Tell, Tippecanoe, Road Trip, Ins and Out of Inns, Secrets and Loans, Lorelai Out of Water, Here Comes the Son, Tippecanoe, Women of Questionable Morals, Blame Booze and Melville and other episodes that rank low on fans' lists :-)
  22. May I have an E? This right here is why I love the show and its fans!
