Today I had my morning coffee on my balcony looking at my planters and exercising my faith that I'll have flowers in a few weeks. This is the part I like. Coffee, watering, looking for signs of plant life, waving to neighbors walking their dogs.

It really is wonderful isn't it?  Rejuvenating for us northerners.

Thank you Supr,  me too. My coreopsis perennials which I have had for a few years are nice - large and round.  Two are called Jethro Tull so I just had to have those. I planted a lot of perennials because I'm a lazy gardener.  I do not like that coreopsis are also called tickseed, blech.

tbh, I don't know the variety that I like, lol.

Speaking of gardening, Ive been busy planting my front entrance flower bed.  I decided on all yellow.  Idk why, it's not my fav color but it seems so cheery. I planted coreopsis, yarrow, lantana, columbine and yellow roses.  I thought ot would be a nice contrast to the brown brick. Out of respect for my neighbors,  I kept my backside aimed at my house while digging and planting.  Now I'm all "stoved up" as we say here from using all my dormant muscles for once. I hope it will be pretty, if so I'll post of picture of it.  Like the talk of gardening. I can learn a lot.

Sounds beautiful!  I especially love coreopsis and lantana.

I want this top!!!  I love the color and the cut.  I couldn't find it online :(

Went to the Boscovs.com site and looked for you.  If you search Preswick and Moore pintuck blouse, you will get a couple of versions of this, both in a subtle plaid print, but I also didn't find this solid version.

Here's one of them - https://www.boscovs.com/shop/prod/womens-preswick-moore-plaid-pintuck-blouse/498167.htm?w=preswick and moore pintuck sleeveless

p.s.:  I spotted a QVC model on the Boscovs site.  The tall, thin (duh) gal with short blonde hair.

I am watching America's Test Kitchen.  They are making baked Alaska.  It lools good even though I don't like many sweet things.

One of my favorite Saturday morning (on our PBS affil) shows!  Bought a cookbook of theirs a few years back.

I'm glad you came over! And totally agree with you about the difference in "certain energy".

ITA, the "ignore feature" can't hide ass kissing.

Basil is such a user friendly herb. It germinates quickly, grows like a weed, and it's delicious. I had never thought of planting it until Antonella was encouraging viewers to try it. I wish I had found this info out 20 years ago. Geesh, the things I would have done differently!

@Booney, your kitty photos came along at a good time. It inspired people to join in the fun. We can continue HERE!

I have managed to successfully grow some herbs... sweet basil, rosemary, thyme.  They're pretty plants to scatter in pots around the patio.  And the aroma is marvelous!

That's WONDERFUL! I love to garden but that would take more time than what I have currently. I love to read about different plants, but that's not the same as being able to grow different things.

In Dallas, I get lots of sunlight, but the heat takes a toll on plants. Tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and zucchini have been disappointments. Too much heat, not enough air circulation, white mildew. I know I can get a can of diced tomatoes at Walmart for 87 cents and the zucchini are affordable, but I wanted the fun of growing them myself. I eventually gave up on those. I watered, cared for, pampered, hand pollinated, and fertilized. For what? I spent too much time for too little yield. We're talking about 6-7 dozen cherry tomatoes at the END of the season.

When I first planted my sweet 100 cherry tomato seeds, I pictured at some point being able to harvest cherry tomatoes every week and supplement my food bill with fresh juicy tomatoes. Nope. Five cans of Hunt's diced tomatoes was more than my yield. Cheaper, too.

Sometimes I don't know why I try again. You'd think I'd stop. I have more seeds. I might plant those dern things again.

There are all kinds of reason to grow our own food, and that's probably a subject for another thread and another day.  I've never had the fire in my belly to do it, but I have been thinking about it more lately, in the interest of quality, concerns about inorganic invaders etc.  So at the ripe young age of 56, last Spring I planted my first ever tomato plant.  Several weeks later, I learned that I was a talented grower of aphid bait.  It was disgusting, and I'm done, lol.  The local grocery is in no danger of having me challenge their market share on tomatoes or any other vegetable.  I admire and envy those of you with the skill and desire to do it.

I'm moving this comment by @SuprSuprElevated to this thread.

When I was looking at crayons on amazon I found this box of 152 different colors. I had no idea! Not that my eyes can discern 152 different colors, but I sure would like to play with them. Comes in its own caddy and a sharpener.

Hello friends! Popping into this forum and taking a little break from the other one for awhile. Hope to see more people posting here. Anyway, I got a USB drive full of photos from my wedding photographer. Mr. Booney and I are still sorting through them all, but wanted to share this one of the two adorable munchkins (grandkids) who served as our flower girl and ring bearer -

Amen sister, tell me about it.  I mentioned somewhere that I had been taking a hair/skin/nails vitamin, primarily to help strengthen my fingernails and keep them from breaking, but it kicked the hormonal hairs into overdrive, so no more of that!  lol   It sucks.

  9. I just watched the American Family Insurance commercial again...the one where Jennifer Hudson comes up to sing with the "street performer'.  I like Jennifer Hudson, but I think her booming vocals are not right in all circumstances.  For me, I'd like to hear the unknown guy finish the song.  I kinda think she ruins it.

You and me both!  I always complained about my too thick hair - now I wish I could take it all back.  I've lost about 1/2 the volume because of an RA medication I take.  I can tell, naturally,  but I just recently had someone say it looks thick.  Hmm really? All I can say is thank goodness for those fill-in scalp powders.

I too have always had thick, course hair and still do.  After reading these posts about thinning etc., I think I shall keep my large trap shut about it!

    This sounds wonderful!

I used to have a small backyard. I had bird feeders, and squirrel food, possums and raccoons would come by occasionally. I loved it. Different songbirds would come and I had a good thing going. Until. One night a raccoon frat party stopped by. Dozens of raccoons were all over the place. Some lounging sprawled all over my fence, the neighbors fence and patio furniture, on my roof, the neighbors roofs, etc. I thought the neighbors would freak out. I certainly did. I didn't want to get in trouble since it was my bird feeders that attracted them in the first place. I lived in a condo next to a wooded area. I was worried I'd be asked to leave. I had no idea that a raccoon rave party was going to show up one night.

You just needed a pit bull to keep them in check.  Apparently.  lol

PRETTY!  As pretty, if not prettier, than LR's.

Did you see Mike Rowe's response to this?  Copied it below from an article.

A few people with jobs that involve getting “down and dirty” are pretty miffed.

Among them is Mike Rowe, the former host of TV’s “Dirty Jobs,” who channeled his befuddled anger in a Facebook post that’s been shared more than 13,500 times and liked more than 31,000 times as of Wednesday morning.

“This morning, for your consideration, I offer further proof that our country’s war on work continues to rage in all corners of polite society,” he wrote of the jeans. “Finally — a pair of jeans that look like they have been worn by someone with a dirty job … made for people who don’t.”

“But forget the jeans themselves for a moment, and their price, and look again at the actual description,” Rowe wrote. “‘Rugged Americana’ is now synonymous with a ‘caked-on, muddy coating.’ Not real mud. Fake mud. Something to foster the illusion of work. The illusion of effort. Or perhaps, for those who actually buy them, the illusion of sanity.”

He added later in the post, “The Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans aren’t pants. They’re not even fashion. They’re a costume for wealthy people who see work as ironic — not iconic.”

I did see that!  Just another reason why I love him!

    what is a patio home???

nm - I googled it.  I never heard this term used before.  CRS prevents me from thinking how I've heard them referred to here.  argh.

Well I checked the Google definition just for fun.  We don't fit the definition to a tee, but close.  Our home does have a shared wall with a neighbor, but not every home in the development does - some are stand alone.  Our maintenance is also not part of HOA fees, we handle our own just like in a conventional development.  Our dues cover maintenance of common areas, entrance, ponds, etc.

It baffles my mind when I can't even remember posting a comment that someone responded to???  what was I doing 19 hours ago??

Figured it out - the above is actually a comment made by zoemom.

Yeah, I didn't notice that.  Wonder how that happened?  Probably something I did - this site still confuzzles me.

Yikes!  We are in a development of patio homes, zero lot line sort of thing, so it's possible that it could happen here too.  So far, so good!
