What would you all pick as your favorite seasons and episodes? Or at least the ones you end up watching most often, lol. I'd said 4 and 5 were my favorites, but so many of my top go to episodes that I watch over and over are from the first three seasons. I am very excited to see which episodes other people find themselves watching again and again!

I absolutely love first 4 seasons. Season 4 and 1 are my most favourite seasons.

  2. Also found out that Matthew will be appearing in a film titled "Zoe", due to be released in 2018.  The premise looks really interesting!!

"Two colleagues at a revolutionary research lab design technology to improve and perfect romantic relationships. As their work progresses, their discoveries become more profound."

    Courtesy IMDB - Zoe

    Looking forward to it :-)

    I.just. can't . believe. it !!!

I'm doing some things on the computer, as my husband is going through channels, and suddenly... #68 kill is on !! I never expected to see it on TV, especially when it was released just months ago.

Of course I asked him for the remote, to record it, and he looks at me and says... are you really going to record that?? I have to say that it was the very violent scene towards the end, and he knows I don't like violence.

    I shouldn't watch it tonight, I have to get up early tomorrow... I shouldn't, I know I shouldn't

How was it senin? I am still debating whether to watch it or not?

I’ve been trying to think about whether I would have enjoyed this more if the entire premise (and the location of the missings) hadn’t been given away in the promo and sneak peeks, two weeks ago.

Maybe.  But it had all been given away two weeks, ago, along with any hint of suspense.  CM really needs to wrest control of its publicity arm.  Since we pretty much already knew the plot, there was really no need to spend so much time down in the bunker with the victims and unsubs.

This is a broken record, but there are too many people on this team.  This episode, it led to an unusual degree of stilted line delivery, especially by the profilers who were pushed to the sidelines.  It’s hard to get much inflection going when you only get to speak eight or ten words at a time.  It was fascinating how much the members of the team each knew about the whole doomsday clock idea, including the specific dates of events contributing to it.  Fascinating, how they all had to share an exposition that might have once belonged, in its entirety,  to Reid.

There are times when ‘direction’ can function as its own character in a production.  That can be a good thing, or not.  I appreciated that Aisha Tyler tried some different things, but I’m not sure those things always contributed positively to the scene.  The bodycam technique, so successfully employed by ‘ER’, made me motion sick when it swung around Rossi, Tara, Luke and Matt.

The parameters given to Garcia to deduce the unsub and his partner were more preposterous than usual, especially given the instant responses.

And Reid.  Poor Reid, who continues to be more abused by the writers than he ever was in prison.  He’s back to being socially awkward (intruding into a conversation with the ‘I read about a guy who only owned 79 items, including his underwear), and emotionally blunted (his reaction to being trapped in the bunker, ending with the ridiculous thing about not accounting for finger fatigue).  Of everything about this episode, I am most disappointed with the treatment of Reid as a caricature once again.  I hope this was an aberration, and not a harbinger of things to come.

AJ did well with her focus. I expected some final reflection on having been able to return the sister of the woman with whom she'd been meeting, in contrast to her own situation.  Since they brought up the whole idea of her being able to relate on that basis.

I'd like to offer to help Garcia find an apartment in whichever unnamed location Morgan now inhabits.

Agree with this post completely!!! Also with the idea that this episode could have been more interesting if Reid and JJ were trapped in the bunker for longer period and trying to get everyone out.

Seriously Reid could not figure out the door code?? SERIOUSLY?

Also no signs of PTSD even after being locked in that confined space? Not even a little reaction? I think it is completely cured now.

So, you think there might have been a missing scene after the coffee scene, but before Hotch says something to Reid about nightmares?  One that would have shown Morgan trying to convince him, instead of jumping the gun and saying something after that little conversation with the coffee?

And yes, I definitely forgot that Reid used to be snarky, and he used to get things, not everything, but wasn't blind to things.  Like, he definitely noticed what that Sheriff was thinking, yet, in the later seasons, it seems like he's oblivious to their remarks and such.

No, not a missing scene but I think Morgan tells Reid that he should talk to someone and Morgan is not the right person to talk to. But then Reid says that what if they think he is not fit for the job, so he clearly displays no desire to talk to either Hotch and Gideon. I think thats why Morgan goes behind his back and tells Hotch and Gideon.

Ohh yes Reid used to notice so many things in earlier seasons. Later he was shown just as a fact spouting genius who was oblivious to everything else around him. Also in earlier seasons he used to laugh with the team, but in later seasons the team used to have laugh at his expense.

  6. Reid used to reply with snarky comments which in later seasons disappeared altogether. Yup I love that scene where Elle gives a helping hand to Reid when JJ just walks ahead. Elle and Reid had such an amazing friendship.

I think Morgan tried to convince Reid about talking to Gideon or Hotch but clearly Reid was not ready to do that. I think that is the reason Morgan goes and talks to Hotch and Gideon so they can help him. He has always been protective of Reid so I think that was his way to make sure Reid gets the help he needs.

I always used to like Reid and Morgan as partners.

Sorry for that, ReidGirl.  I'm still hanging in, hopeful of more fallout for Reid, and maybe some decent storyline for the more familiar cast members.  I won't watch enjoy the Reidless episodes, but I remain hopeful of the rest---including hoping that Reid and JJ don't climb down into 'The Bunker' and disappear for the rest of the episode!

I am also hanging in there JMO, just for Reid at this point. I definitely wont be watching Reidless episodes.

Anyway, I'll write more notes when I've watched more episodes.  Also, I hope it's okay to revive the old threads, I was hoping to do the same when I move onto the other seasons.

I agree with all your observations. Yes its absolutely ok to revive old threads!! Looking forward to more of your comments. I personally have lost interest in the current (13th) season.

  8. I agree this episode would have worked better as 2 parter but to focus more on the case rather than Garcia. I dont think I would be able to watch one whole episode focussing on Garcia’s demons.

JMO is right about comparing season 1 to season 10+. It's like expecting a long term relationship to stay the same over years and decades, ain't gonna happen. However, over time, characters emerge and change and grow, and you're right, the fans of the show want to make a journey with the characters that makes sense.

I do think they are showing growth through Luke Alvez, although I really hope they don't veer off into the Garciasphere with him. Let him grow as he has been. I'm liking his character.

Agree that the characters can not stay the same over 10 long years but as JenJen pointed out now they are interchangable.

I also do like Luke and agree that they should stay well clear of Garvez.

  10. Welcome to the CM forum JenJen.. Very good observations!!!

Overall, I really like Elle, although I perfer Blake.  I also appreciate Gideon a little more than Rossi, although I don't know why.

I aboslutely love Elle and I also like Gideon more than Rossi. Gideon was a very complex character and it added a certain kind of an intensity to the show. In earlier seasons all the characters were well defined, everyone had their strength and weaknesses. Now all of them are almost similar and too perfect.

Garcia, on the other hand, has worn out her welcome with me.  The character we saw in the first few seasons was delightfully snarky, and bright, and smugly capable.  The character we get now is precious and wimpy and cartoonishly childish.  Just as happened for far too long with Reid ('the awkward, rambling genius'), it was as though the writers themselves dismissed her as 'the one who uses unprofessional language and is squeamish', end of character development.

Portrayed well, characters evolve.  In my opinion, Garcia has devolved.  It is unfathomable to me why the actress seems to be content with that.

Exactly what I think, though you write it way better than me :)

The episode itself was good execpt the Morgan Garcia reunion scene which I felt very unnatural. I dont know why she can not talk to Reid, JJ or Prentiss who have also known her long enough. I used to like Morgan when he was part of the regular cast. Now he does not even act like Morgan any more.

I also enjoy Reid and Luke working together. Way way too many team members, but we all have complained about it enough times already.

Just finished the first season of the new Netflix show Mindhunter. I can confidently say that a LOT of folks here will like it, possibly love it.

It's a David Fincher- directed look at the origins of the actual BAU, base on the book. The lead character, Holden Ford, has quite a few "Spencer Reid" nuances about him, and the FBI boss reminded me quite a bit of Hotch. Holden's partner Tench is excellent, as are the actors cast as the serial killers.

Anyway, CM comparisons aside, you should check it out if you get a chance!

Just saw the trailer for it and looks very interesting!!! Good suggestion as I was looking for something new to watch and this looks like something I will enjoy.

How expensive would it be to accomplish a one day shoot of a few classroom scenes, or a few phone-ins (no extras at all) to appear in the otherwise Reid-less episodes?  Even less expensive:  film him writing in a journal, with a voiceover of his thoughts, as he goes through the healing process, bring him back a little healthier.  And it would give us the added bonus of one or two minutes' worth less of unsub time or running around in the dark.

Wow great suggestion JMO. I absolutely loved the voice over idea while Reid is writing in a journal.

While he is there onset, yes, I agree, they should use him much more than they do. For the time he contracted to be "off", I respect his desire to be off.

Yes I agree. I also do respect his desire to be off. I only meant while he is still available on the set, why can’t they use him more. If not more then at least similar to his other team members. He literally disappeared after giving out the profile.

  15. The case was different but I could not really bother to focus much. Most of the episode I was trying to see if Reid has come back from wherever he went after giving out the profile.

Seriously with MGG taking time off for 2-3 episodes cant they give him some more screen time. He is the only reason I am still watching this show.

I don't dislike the team members because they take screen time away from my fave character (Reid), but its the use of that screen time that is mishandled is what I have a problem with.

I dont dislike them becuase they take screen time away from Reid, I am just not invested in them enough as I am in other ”veteran” characters. I watch the show these days mainly for Reid and team interaction. Matt being a wooden actor does not help the cause as well.

I had this problem with the late-season episode last season to focus on Walker and his dying buddy.   Instead of being in the middle of proactively working to get an innocent teammate out of prison, they dropped everything to solve a not-dead man's murder and claim it was a serial to make sure the bosses let them.

Why wasn't that episode one of the few that MGG always takes off?

    Agree with this completely.

Which he - they both, actually - is horrible at.

Maybe it was down to KV & SM having a chemistry that KV & AR don't, but the Garcia & Morgan banter was on a level that felt so much more natural and smooth than Garcia & Alvez could ever even begin to hope to reach.

To be honest I never really liked Morgan/Garcia banter as well in later seasons. These days, I am just looking forward to scenes with Reid in it. I still don't care about Tara and Matt. I don't even realise when Tara is not in any episode.

They could have used some later episode when MGG is not around to focus on Matt. Now I want them to focus a little on how Reid is coping after the prison.
