  1. Hmm, the 5x09 description makes me think that the theory that Prometheus kills Mayo and kidnaps Felicity is very possible. Am I the only one?

It's episode 12(?)  Maybe Diggle's been cleared by now.

I'm assuming that by this point, they've either quickly cleared his name, totally forgotten that they have to clear his name and ignore that fact, or they're going to have him living as John Diggle's twin.

The purples and red seem too upbeat for a funeral to me. Mayor thing, maybe? Although it seems like if that was it Oliver would have his flag pin on his coat's lapel, but this show isn't all that great with stuff like that, so who knows.

Mayor thing seems more likely than funeral. Or some sort of event. Do have to wonder why Tina's there. And I'm glad WD isn't? Hopefully?

But yeah, I really want to know what's going on here. And in the 2 photos EBR has posted, the one of Prometheus and the one from yesterday.

Maybe it's the lack of focus on his character, or lack of pr, or lack of media interviews, or the fact that he really outpowers the rest of the team, but I have this bad feeling that Rory - the best new newbie  - is going to be the casualty this season, the death that inspires the rest of the team when they're down. I really, really hope that I'm wrong.

It would have to happen when he's not out as Ragman though, so someone would have to tell (presumably) Prometheus (if he's responsible) who he is. But maybe Evelyn does? Because I don't see anything getting past those magic rags yet. I mean, he just stands there in the middle of fight scenes and everyone stands behind him and bam, everyone's safe.

I really hope you're wrong too. He's my favorite recruit. I think if we start getting more of him around the middle of the season, however, it could be a strong possibility.

  4. Have there been any interviews talking about why Thea is back in the field for the crossover considering she's left Speedy behind right now? (Other than just because they need her to?)

I'm fine with the reporter stringing Oliver along to get a story. It's kind of gross. The thing I have a problem with is that no one within Oliver's administration or in team arrow seems to realize what a colossally bad idea it is to have Oliver meeting with a reporter who has already burned them.

Well, Thea was too busy helping Lance. They didn't even want to show Felicity's reaction to Oliver meeting her for drinks. They apparently forgot that Oliver has a friend in Diggle to talk to over a drink. And the newbies cared more about telling Oliver he was going on a date. So that pretty much leaves no one to remind Oliver of what Susan was doing a couple episodes ago. (It's sort of why I hope that this all comes back to bite him. I expect better from Oliver. I don't think he should need someone to tell him not to talk to a reporter.)

I'm taking it as Thea saw Laurel, who she'd gotten close to, as family so now by extension that included Quentin.  Plus Thea got hit in the head a lot.

This made me laugh. Plus, you know, maybe the two have been bonding over Oliver's stupidity in City Hall when Lance did manage to show up.

  6. With all this talk about possible series regulars for next season, I can't help but wonder if they know that Arrow's getting a sixth season, but the CW just doesn't want to announce it yet. So they feel like they can write whatever they want right now and stall ships and what not because they already know they'll be back, so they don't care if people aren't tuning in because of what's on screen now (whether that's the relationships and lack of, the newbies, lack of storylines for characters, etc.)?

With this show, I wouldn't be surprised if one 2-minute quasi date and some light stalking qualified as romance.

I mean, they thought that Ray pinging Felicity's cell phone was supposed to be cute or whatever in season 3. And they think that we're supposed to be rooting for Mayo because he's with Felicity and ... that's about it. I don't think they even care about that relationship anymore since the whole point was not having Oliver "move on" first. They probably think that since they're giving Oliver/Susan those 507 scenes and using Felicity's line from Olicity's first date, bam, romance.

I feel like 509 has to be Susan's last episode because of CP's role on Suits. I was going to say I doubt they'll have time in 509 to spend much time on the reporter if it's about Prometheus/has the S1 stuff, but then I remembered that Oliver took the time to meet her for drinks while leaving the team to deal with Vigilante in 507, so who knows. Unless they're planning to bring her back later in the season? Just have her resurface then with the Russia photo?

I think here's where that Stephen's comment about Mayo having to worry about his connection to Felicity comes into play.  Evelyn specifically asked about Felicity's connection with SCPD, and found out about her boyfriend. So, I guess something will happen to him in 509.

I feel like that had to be the point of that scene in 507.

You know, I was thinking that I wanted Felicity and Mayo to break up before he's killed if he is killed, because I don't want to see her grieving him, but I realized that either way, we probably won't see her grieving him. At least not on-screen. With everything else going on, it'll probably take a backseat. Maybe they'll mention, "Oh, Felicity's not here because her boyfriend or whatever he was died."

I have some wild theories to what that tweet could be referred to

    - some scene shot on location that is going to be spoiled by the paps so he wants to prevent the drama;

    - next KC appearance (beside 508). Maybe she is in 509 as well?

    - he is addressing the people speculating on FP bringing back the Hood because of the pic SA posted.

Those were my theories too. Although for the last one, hadn't it been established already that the pic SA posted was a flashback to S1? Or could he just be making it official? Guess we'll know based on any tweets from paps today or tomorrow.

Yeah, I'm expecting her in 509 more due to her last scene in this episode than the IMDb credit. Unless Oliver strangled her, it doesn't make sense for her to just disappear.

Oh, if only... But I'd rather she show up in 509 to close out her storyline than to have to think about her showing up in the future. Although I'm hoping whatever Oliver sees in 508 shuts down any thoughts he may have about her. (Hopefully it'll also help him re-learn who he should trust and who he should be talking to. You know, NOT A REPORTER. Especially with that month deadline ending.)

Also,  a member of THE MAYOR'S SECURITY DETAIL is not going to text a reporter as to the Mayor's whereabouts. And why would Oliver not fire said person on the spot?

This bugged me so much. I know Oliver ditches his security detail all the time, but still. Is everyone corrupt in some way on the show now? How is Oliver not concerned about this when 2 weeks ago, he hired someone to be him because there was a hit out on him? Why is his first thought, "great, I want to spend more time with this reporter" and not "huh, this isn't right. Maybe I should look into these guys"?

  10. Some quick thoughts:

Oliver should not be talking to Susan. Be smarter, Oliver. She's a reporter. I kind of hope she turns on him because, seriously? It's just stupid. Why isn't he at least talking to Diggle? (Remember Diggle, Oliver? Your friend who has no one to really talk to right now because you broke him out of prison and made him a fugitive? Have a drink with him.) They apparently don't want Oliver talking to Felicity. (That conversation about his time in Russia may be the best thing we get, at least in 5A, for their talks.) Why is he opening up to Susan? Is this supposed to be showing signs of growth, that he can talk to some random reporter after he didn't talk to Felicity last season? And leaving in the middle of everything going on to go get a drink with her? And that last scene with the two of them. My only reaction is "ugh."

They really don't want to give Felicity a POV. Not even a quick cut to her after Oliver mentions drinks with Susan. This episode kind of made me lose any hope about what they might have planned for Felicity in 5B.

Why wasn't it Oliver or Felicity who worked with Lyla so Diggle could have time with his son? WD is the one who had to come up with that? Really? I feel like I have to make a sacrifice to the TV gods to get a good Felicity/Diggle scene these days.

Evelyn meeting with Prometheus? Meh. Don't really care how that's going to turn out actually. (But I do have to say, dressing Evelyn the way they did to lure the guy into the alley? Just no. I really wonder how anyone thought that was a good idea. Maybe they forgot she's 17 because they didn't care as long as they could write in that scene?)

And poor Thea and Lance, stuck on their own island of a storyline. I kinda wish they had both showed up long enough in Oliver's office to reiterate how bad an idea this whole Susan thing is. Both WH and PB have been very good in their scenes together this season.

Oh, and Vigilante, the name of the episode, right. Uh, they made it really obvious who he is (even if it hadn't been announced in the casting) and I just didn't care. Yay for Felicity in the field again, but also, again, I wonder, is there anything Rory's rags can't do? Are they just going to have everyone hide behind him during fights all the time?

    RE: the spoiler just posted.

Someone on Twitter said it was from a review on Reddit.

    Oh, reddit.

I'd sooner believe Felicity/Mayo breakup as Oliver sleeps with the reporter than that spoiler being true. Guess we'll know in the next 2 hours.

  12. Ugh, that clip. Yes, because the reporter who has the mayor on a deadline before she starts writing bad stuff about him again is the perfect "friend" for him. My guess? She shows up at his office when he doesn't show up for the drink, so they can have them hook up there and don't have to worry about another set.

Dear Oliver, please make better decisions.

Going away from the 100th episode...how likely is it that Oliver will 'romance' the reporter in today's episode?

Well, we're getting that "working late" line in tonight's episode, so...

So is it just Oliver and Thea in the dream world or are the others there too or are they in their own dream world and we just see Oliver's? Since we saw that Diggle and Sara are wearing the alien jammies.

My guess is all the main masked heroes are thrown into various roles into Oliver's dream world? Sara fits in as Laurel's sister (I'm going to laugh if she's her maid of honor and sleeping with Oliver in this dream), Diggle will probably be security, etc.

The confusion for me is that pre-island Ollie's idea of a perfect world would be different from current Oliver's idea of a perfect world. So are the aliens basing their illusion on current Oliver or past Oliver?

Season 1 Oliver! Because it's all about season 1. I wonder if they'll even fully explain that or if they'll just be like, "here, dream world, no Gambit sinking" and "here, he chose to leave it because reasons."

  16. I wonder if the aliens just get inside his head, decide that if he hadn't gone on the Gambit, he wouldn't have become the Green Arrow. So they see everything that was his life before that and take it from there. He was with Laurel. His parents were alive. Etc.

Suddenly I picture Oliver starting to recite his vows to Felicity to Laurel instead.  Part of me shudders but part of me would enjoy the subconscious memory.

Oh please no. (Though I wouldn't put it past the writers.) But I would love to see him having flashes to his vows to Felicity in the middle of the wedding and realizing, "oops, wrong bride!"

  18. I'm going to wait to judge, but my problem is that it seems that it's all about a "love letter to the fans" when it comes to season 1, not all 99 episodes before the 100th. But maybe that's where Oliver "waking up" comes in, and they're keeping those details close to the chest for now for some big surprise.

    • Love 8
  19. First questions that come to mind about this dream world: What's Oliver doing for a job? Does he even have one? Is he still cheating on Laurel? What would Thea be up to if the Gambit didn't happen?

  20. A couple of notes after watching the sneak peek from tonight:

    1. Has Rene ever called Felicity by name? I feel like he always calls her "Blondie."

    2. They're calling Mayo and the reporter Felicity's boyfriend and Oliver's girlfriend more times in the span of 1-2 episodes than they ever referred to Oliver and Felicity as such when they were together.

From Rick Gonzalez's facebook Q&A today at CW Arrow - ???...

On whether we can expect Wild Dog to go on a date with Thea, RG said that he read those scenes as moments where Wild Dog was being selfish and going after something he likes. RG then added: "He's not shying away from wanting that - that connection with her, but, um, will she reciprocate? That's another story. So it'll be interesting to see if that even happens, you know, um, which is - which is great. But I will say that there's going to be a lot of other different connections for Wild Dog to encounter in this season that I - that I know about that's going to be awesome. So yeah, it's going to be great."

Hmm, interesting. Yes, my first thought was maybe Tina, but "a lot of other different connections" makes me wonder if we're going to get more casting news for some new recurring characters. We haven't had any of those in a while, and they do seem to love new characters this season.

Considering they seem to be pushing WD above the other recruits, meaning we'll have to keep seeing a lot of him, I just hope that whatever's coming up for him makes him more likable.

Someone on Tumblr decided Carter Bowen was Prometheus. I'm down with that theory. ;)

Next someone's going to suggest Prometheus is Max Fuller. He decided that owning a club and suiting up go hand-in-hand. He's still mad about Oliver sleeping with his fiancee at the rehearsal dinner. (That's really how that conversation between Chase and Oliver about Chase's girlfriend fits into the rest of the season.)

    (Not at all serious.)

I can see why they might do that in an anti-Olicity season but if you were Oliver, wouldn't you rather change the moment you lied to Felicity by not telling her about William's existence?

It's going to make Oliver sleeping with any other women after that even worse.

Stop making sense! Besides, since the writers don't think Oliver did anything wrong lying to Felicity, I don't see them changing that.

I do wonder how Deathstroke is going to play into this. Could Oliver seeing him make him realize he's in a dream world and snap him out of it? Make him realize he can't stay?
