  1. I feel guilty when I vote out any because I love them all. Someone has to bring me back to reality and remind me that voting out moments doesn't actually mean erasing them from the series! 23 and 24
  2. I agree with every choice so far! I have so many favorite episodes that I've never even tried to narrow it down to five or ten, but now I can't pass up this challenge. I'll try to limit myself to two per season. I'll pick Rory's Birthday's Parties because it gives such a good illustration of all the characters and their relationships and That Damn Donna Reed because it contains some of my favorite Luke and Lorelai scenes and also because I am the only person here who likes Dean's relationship with Rory at the beginning and thought a lot of their scenes in this episode were interesting! From the second season I'll choose Bracebridge and Dead Uncles. For season three, I'll be boring and stick with the very popular They Shoot Gilmores and the season finale. Now that I'm looking at a list, I think seasons 1, 2 4 and 5 have a lot more episodes I love than season three, which I would guess is an unpopular opinion? It's mostly because I'm not a big Jess fan, don't really like the way the Chilton scenes in season three, don't like Nicole and don't think there are as many moments between LL or even Lorelai and Rory that season. I'll choose In the Clamor and Last Week Fights from season four, but season four is my second favorite season behind season one, so I could really pick all but two or three episodes as my favorites! From the fifth I will choose Written in the Stars for all the LL parts and the scenes with Rory sympathizing with Paris over Asher Flemming's death even though I hate the introduction of Logan. I deeply dislike Logan and his friends in general, which I think might be unpopular here too, but I understand why others might enjoy them. 21 and Balalaikas are my favorites from the sixth season. Bike and Bon Voyage are the ones I'd pick from the final season. Like a lot of people here, many more of my favorites come from the first five seasons than the final two, which are hard for me to watch. Every time I read threads like this I want to watch these episodes again!
  3. This looks like so much fun! Can anyone jump in at any time? If it's not too late, I'll vote to eliminate 12, 21 and 22.
  4. I can't believe I just got a compliment from one of the world's foremost experts on Luke and Lorelai! You just made my weekend and gave me the courage to start the LL fanfic I've always wanted to write. I know quoting yourself is obnoxious, but I forgot to add earlier that I feel like Christopher is only the right fit for the woman Lorelai can sometimes seem to be and who she could have been if she'd stayed in her parents' world, while Luke is the perfect soulmate for the woman she actually is. Let's hope my fanfic makes more sense than this post!
  5. I've never cared about any couple like I do Luke and Lorelai. For me they're soulmates and I thought so from their first scene in the pilot! I agree that the writers made them seem too different and annoyed with each other sometimes, but I think they're both outsiders in their own ways who trust and love very few. They're both their own worst enemy. Neither is a good communicator but both feel things a lot more deeply than they let on and I see them as very emotional and sensitive. Both distance and avoid, him with rants and by shutting people out and her by deflecting with humor and taking actions she probably shouldn't. Neither is necessarily smart in a bookish Rory way but both are actually very intelligent in their own ways. He's very competent, pragmatic, rational and has a knack for fixing things and she is extremely quick, clever, witty, creative and resourceful. The're both independent and determined to do things their own way no matter what they're told. They put up fronts that don't necessarily represent who they are - he seems more of a cynical people hater than he actually is and she seems more airy and lighthearted than she actually is - but both have very good but damaged hearts underneath that outer layer. I don't see them as completely opposite as some do and I do think they're delighted with and challenged by each other more than they're upset and confused even though I agree that the show didn't always do a very good job of showing that once they got together. My favorite java junkie episodes before they started dating are Forgiveness and Stuff, Double Date, Donna Reed, Run Away, Bracebridge, Secrets and Loans, A-Tisket, Dead Uncles, They Shoot Gilmores, Thanksgiving, Poes, The Fundamental Things Apply, Clamor, Nag, The Incredible Sinking Lorelai, and of course the last few of season 4. I actually like most of their relationship in season 5 even though I agree that we could have seen them more affectionate and smiley at times. I think they have some good scenes in Season 6 too, especially before we find out about April. The scene where Luke comforts Lorelai about Paul Anka and Rory and tries to convince her she's a good mom is amazing. I also love the finale in season 7. After reading this thread I think I had a lot more I wanted to say but got too excited to remember!
  6. This is my favorite show and I'm so excited to talk about it! I read all 72 pages of this thread and had the best time doing it. I have some unpopular opinions so buckle up and fortify with some coffee from Luke's before reading this :-) I like Dean a lot until the fifth season and the Rory and Dean relationship of the first season was definitely my favorite of all of Rory's romances. In my imagination Dean was never ruined. Luke was definitely at his best in the first season but I love him in every season no matter how badly the writers tried to ruin him. I think because the show is so over the top in general the temper stuff doesn't bother me because I just don't think we're supposed to take it seriously. I also think Luke grew a lot in season 7. I love Lorelai too and even though she has a lot of flaws it hurts me when people hate her. I understand it and of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, but even though I agree with people who think she'd be too much to take sometimes in real life I think she's a really unique character and a very big part of what makes the show such a success. I love Rory too. She's one of my favorite characters ever. I'm boring, I love all the main characters even though I have no trouble understanding the criticisms! But I mainly love Rory around Lorelai, Lane, Paris, the adults of Stars Hollow and Richard. I don't like Rory around Jess or Logan and her interactions with Emily don't bring out the best in her. I am the biggest Luke and Lorelai shipper but didn't mind Lorelai's other relationships. They weren't fun to watch sometimes but I think they served their purpose. Rory's relationships bothered me so much more. Maybe if I were a bigger Jess fan the second and third seasons would be my favorite like they seem to be for most of the people here, but the first season is definitely the best to me! Then comes the fourth, then comes the fifth. So I would rank them as 1, 4, 5, 2, 3, 7 and 6 even though Luke and Lorelai actually have some very good moments at the beginning of Season 6. I hate Jess and especially Logan. It's not because I'm the only Rory and Dean shipper on planet earth, I just really don't like either character. At least Jess had some interesting scenes with Luke, but Logan and his moronic friends were just hard for me to watch.
