  1. I was coming in to report on Mazursky's death.  I had posted it in the Monkees thread as well since he co-wrote the pilot and was featured in the opening sequence of it as a "man on the street" reporter.

So sorry to hear about Bob Hastings.  I remember him in so many roles:  Kelsey who owned Kelsey's Bar on "All In The Family", his animation voicework in "Superboy" (1966), "Jeannie" (as "Henry" in 1971), and as Commissioner Gordon in BTAS.

  2.

Did the Earth Queen mention that King Kuei was her father/grandfather? You'd think he'd have been overthrown after the war..

He was her father.  The queen looks about 50-60 something in age.  I remember it was mentioned in passing on ATLA that the Earth King traveled the world in disguise for a while near the end of the war.  No other follow up had been made until now.  Interesting that the Queen is the polar opposite of her father.  Perhaps the Dai Li had something to do with that.

Korra's father is the chief of the both tribes, right?

No, just the SWT.  Although he was originally meant to rule NWT if it hadn't been for his brother's treachery.  I wasn't sure if Eska & Deska would have automatically taken over, but I guess it makes things easier.

I loved that Bolin and Mako are no longer alone in the world.  It was also touching seeing the boys sadly explain to their grandmother that their father (her son) was dead for many years.  I read elsewhere that Grandmother is the same girl Zuko had a date with in "Tales of Ba Sing Se".

  3. Booster Gold, Hawk, Dove and Mr. Terrific were pretty much made of fail...

I disagree (this coming from a person who didn't even know these characters from the comics and only familiar with their JL/JLU versions).  Mr. Terrific we really didn't get to know all that well sine he replaced Manhunter as team organizer and didn't have much to do onscreen.  I liked Hawk & Dove's introduction and the bar fight scene (and having them voiced by former co-stars from The Wonder Years also worked well!) but the episode itself was lousy.  I would have liked to have seen them front and center again.  I loved Booster Gold and Skeets!  Best of all their VAs consistently voiced them through two incarnations!

I will also add to the Vigilante love.  I also wish we could have seen more of him and Shining Knight working together.  They were a team in the comics and it would have been fun to have seen them do more.

  4. did I see one of the Vulcan twins in there? What happened to them again?

At the end of last season, they went back to the NWT.  They mentioned how difficult it would be to explain to their mother what had happened to their father (him merging with the evil entity and being destroyed by Korra).

It appears that an airbender  that isn't a member of Aang's family has been born.  Considering "Changes" is the theme of this season, I'm guessing the time has come for airbenders to return.  Another "Sparky Boom Boom Man, er.. Woman"!  The Earth Kingdom / Ba Sing Se is apparently ruled by a queen (or empress) now.

It also appears that Uncle Bumi has airbending powers after all.

  5. I find that I can only watch up to "Lost & Bound".  I can't stand seeing Cole's descent into the Source storyline, Phoebe's abandoning him (despite her devotion to him just one season earlier), and his " gone insane because I can't die"  plotline.  The character certainly deserved better.

I tend to skip most eps of season 5 (with a few exceptions like Y Tu Mummy Tambien and Sense & Sensibility).  Season 6 I choose to watch Chris Crossed if only to get to see Future Wyatt and his interactions with Chris.

Season 7 I also tend to skip with the exception of Imaginary Fiends (to get a bit more on a good Future Wyatt), and Show Ghouls (sure Billy Zane is a bit of a ham, but a likeable one.  Although I can see this ep easily having originally being written with Cole and Phoebe in mind not Drake).

Season 8 I tend to ignore until the finale.

  6. I find it odd they would shoot in Belgrade when Canada is often the "go to" country for any big nondescript US city.

Speaking of former cast members in other roles, I am certain I saw Cupid #1 (from "Heartbreak City") in a Bayer aspirin commercial!  He was going to his car when he received a note that his heart attack would begin that night.

    Yay!  First time posting here!
