  1. Ok, haven't contributed much since auditions, but something you all may find interesting: Auto Amy is auditioning for the Golden State Warriors dance team today. First-hand knowledge.
  2. No, sadly, my daughter did not make it through to semis :( Although she is of the 'long and lean' look, she might have been a little softer than the rest of the girls. She just wanted to at least make it through semis so she could show her ability to do the choreo and kick line. I really think not being involved in the prep classes was a detriment: being off the radar and not being seen and coached by Kitty or Michelle, and I think they have more say than we think. For the girls who say they flew in the 'day before' without any prep or guidance and make it through is all for TV. I hope she tries out again next year because she put a lot of effort into the process and now has more knowledge going in. Now she knows where/what to focus on and hopefully can arrange to be out here for the classes. We will be watching to see the progress of the girls and can't wait to see the season.
  3. Some updates: There not 525 girls - the numbers are random, so even tho someone was assigned #522, there are only about 300 girls. There are 16 judges, don't know who they all are, besides the obvious. Gift bags contain a free spray tan and discount for eye lashes. They just had a break and are finishing the second half of girls. Daughter reports seeing Fallon and has been chatting with Berkly a bit. She says her dance was a blur and doesn't remember any of it, and the song (Jason Derulio) seemed to play forever :) I'll post as I learn more!
  4. Haha, I'll correct myself on the number of girls, as I just saw an IG post with #522.
  5. Checking in and confirming some of the info: Shelbi, Emily (snake eyes) and Auto Amy are auditioning. I saw a few familiar faces, but couldn't remember names. My daughter thought there was about 300 auditioning so I'm curious on the 525 number. There were a few CMT crews filming some of the girls and a drone taking aerial shots of the line and parking lot. I learned some of the girls being filmed are picked through the prep classes, and a CMT rep is there to watch and approach them. It sounds like they may be tipped off by Michelle Keys or Kitty Carter. They had one girl hugging her boyfriend goodbye and showed another getting out of her car and approaching the line. I'll be curious to see the editing and what appears on the show. On a side note, it was POURING rain this morning, and fortuitously the rain stopped just before 7:00 as the girls were lining up. There is a lot of hair primping due to the rain and mugginess. They had about 1/2 hour after Kelli's intro to get ready before the dancing.
  6. Thank you for the wise words sleepyjean :) My idea was to give info on the audition process in more general terms and some behind-the-scenes stuff that may not be seen on TV, and not to provide negative or snarky comments about the DCC hopefuls or negatively affect my daughter. They've all worked hard to prepare for the auditions, and someone else's daughter may be reading this. I know I may read comments about my daughter, but I'm prepared for that. If there is a nondisclosure statement ( as I'm fairly certain there is) I would be up front about what could be shared and after reading this board, I think there are some folks on here with some insider info. I just thought it would be nice for future hopefuls to know more of the process other than what is shown on MTT.
  7. I introduced myself on the Small Talk board but wanted to say here that my daughter will auditioning this weekend :) I will be happy to give updates throughout the process. I don't want to give out her info for the sake of anonymity, but would appreciate any insight beforehand :)
  8. Oh yes, she's been studying - flashcards and everything! Doesn't want to be the '50 yrd girl'. She loves football and attended the NFL draft this year :) Her prelim and solo dances are done, along with the addition outfits. She comes from a very technical dance background, and has done multiple styles but in the spirit of anonymity I don't want to say more :P She is beyond excited (as is her mom)!
  9. I've been reading this board for a few months (and watching the show for years) in anticipation of my daughter trying out for DCC this season. Someone posted that they wanted an inside view of the audition process, which I will be happy to report. There may be questions I have along the way, so I hope to get some help too! We are not from Texas, so won't be doing prep classes and don't have an 'inside' track, but hope that she can make her way thru the process. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
