  1. Almost over the line of having too many subplots, but enjoyed how they played out, and connected.  Especially Cornell.  I didn't think I'd like to see the real life side of her, but found myself drawn in.  (Love the actor playing her ex. - my mind just went blank on  his name! )  Would like another season, for sure.

  2. It may not have been this show, but one fact has come out that I had never heard.  Burke came downstairs to play with his toys once everyone was asleep.  I need to watch the Dr. Phil interviews, but I believe he said it to Dr. P, as well.   It may have nothing to do with anything, but my gut reaction to the info was heavy.

  3. Great series !!  There were no lulls  -   liked that !!!    Also, liked that all story lines linked directly to the main one.  Didn't see that ending coming, and I yelled in surprise and in some emotion I still can't identify !!  Hoping for a 2nd----

You were not.  I was watching the ending and I thought, why is the camera just focusing on that, and then the final scene, and the music was perfect.  I LOVE that song.

My favorite song, NEUROCHICK !!!!! So appropriate for that last scene.  I cheered at that, and for Turturro's performance.

  5. Angie is phoning it in.  She barely gets the lines out and acts like she couldn't care less about being in the show.  Is she that angry about the cancellation, or what?

  6. I am not so steeped in emotionally with these characters or their stories.  This show is very different than others that I watch.  The appeal is more about the atmosphere that surrounds these people.  Most of us can relate to the concert experience - no matter what decade !!! The excitement of waiting for the band, the carefree feeling that comes with "letting go"  for a few hours.  Even the sadness conjured - the Who story, Lynyrd Skynyrd - ...I guess it takes me back to a time I miss, but can visit now and then through music and stories.

  7. After 2 seasons of anticipating every episode, I am just not engaged here.  The "relationship angst" (thank you, slothgirl) is overwhelming the story.

Sorry, I miss Jamal.  He was a champion at mixing it up !!!

  8. Watched the ep back to back.  Didn't want season to be over !!

Deran and Craig - hilarious in the truck.

Pope's scene with Smurf was raw and telling from his perspective.

Agree w/Artsda above,  Craig and Nicky - illegal?   Definitely not cool - not only for the legality, but because of J.

J was fantastic in his scene w/detective!!  I give him the "Gold" !!!

    I'll be back ~~~

The actor is doing his best, but yeah... they've gone over the top with Rashid. Poor guy has to try for a nuanced performance with only one eye showing and scar makeup all over his face that probably limits the movement of his skin. Maybe he should trade notes with Levar Burton.

If they decide to make Barry the Tyrant because his family gets killed or whatever, I'm going to be disappointed. I would prefer a scenario where he becomes the Tyrant because of the reality of the clashing of political and cultural extremes. With people trying to crush you at every turn, crushing them first becomes instinctual, and nothing else works. I imagine they want to portray Barry as a good man full of empathy and kindness, who gets driven to extremes by grief.

Unfortunately, I've never believed in that Barry as a character. The Barry that killed without hesitation when he was a child was an interesting nuanced character that the actor couldn't deliver. They've gone to such trouble to convince us that Barry DOESN'T have a cruel Tyrant just under the surface, that now they have to play the standard marital arts/action movie plot to get him there (they shot my partner, kidnapped my daughter, raped my wife or girlfriend, and then KILLED MY DOG! ... I must have revenge!)

I could even get behind a Barry that was naive and ends up as a puppet Tyrant propped up by the US. At this point though, my only hope is that Tyrant Barry gets overthrown quickly by Leila so that Ahmed becomes the Tyrant he is destined to be. His slow transformation from a young man to a hard and vengeful Tyrant has been believable so far.

As much as I love Jamal as a character because of his portrayal, I wonder how this transformation of Barry could have been if Barhom had played Barry.

Agree, SLOTHGIRL !!!  Great observation !!  I also believed Jamal to be the most interesting, watchable character.  Barhom played all his "onion layers" so convincingly, I couldn't predict his actions or emotions.  Your suggestion makes so much sense:  "...if Barhom had played Barry."

  10. Wow  - posts above - The Hound Lives and clb1016 - right on my wave length!  I was thinking of Box while reading through this episode's comments.  I want to see him investigate the case, even if he has to do it on the sly (like a lot of tv/movie murder shows when they have the "right guy").   I felt Stone was right on when he accused Box of his "gut" feeling.  I am hoping he will follow up. Another reason is, I am curious about who Box really is.  Is his "caring" act just that, or does he invest in the cases that give him the "uneasy" feeling?  Where Stone would fit in this scenario, other than joining forces...?

  11. Just suggestions :  More Lena, less kids, no Theresa, give Mickey half a smart pill, so his mistakes and grovelling aren't quite so annoying.

I LOVE this show !!!  This season has some levity, which makes for a fantasic balance with the heavy issues being addressed.  The actors are delivering perfectly !!!!

Anyone in a holding cell would feel better if JG walked in and said "I am your lawyer" instead of the disheveled JT  in the Columbo inspired stained rain coat.

Missing a actor is a testament to the legacy of their body of work.

I had chills after reading this, HUMBLEOPINION.  I agree.  Just watched "The Drop".

Wow, the girl that plays Briana is a TERRIBLE actress. Am I the only one who sees this??

I'm officially worried for next season. This is the first time this show has screwed up on casting someone. She couldn't deliver a single line reading convincingly in this episode. I was shocked at how horrendous she was.

Everyone else they have ever introduced has been awesome in their roles. How could they fuck this up so badly?

    I agree.   Hard to watch.

  14. I want to know more about why J's mom left, or was ostracized.  It has been hinted  that there is more to the story.

Loving this series  !!!   Acting is just right - realistic.  Pope scares the poo out of me.
