I'm really happy that Kate was able to be on the show with Alex hosting, just like her mom back in 1987 — and win too! It's a nice thing to have in spite of Alex's death.

Her mom is novelist Meg Gardiner. (I have not read her stuff, but I have heard of her.)

It must have been filmed some time ago b/c William Christopher had a talking  point during the interview.

These cast & crew interviews have been airing on MeTV for several years now, whenever they show this episode. You'll notice they've also shown Wayne Rogers, who died in 2015.

I haven't seen "Schitt's Creek", but given all the talk about how good it is and whatnot, I feel I should probably be adding it to my "to check out" list. The cast seems like a lovely bunch judging from seeing them here.

Speaking as someone who just binged it over the last couple months, my feeling was that it was just "OK" at the beginning... until the last episode of season 2, at which point it transformed into something special. Worth sticking with, for sure.

  4. Unpopular opinion, I guess, but I like the spaced-out podiums a lot and thought, gee, they should've done that long ago.

Also thought Ken did a good job with his clues. Try reading a clue or two out loud in the privacy of your own home, and give it some inflection, try to infuse some personality, don't stumble over any words... it's not easy. I think he will improve, but I gave him a thumbs-up. (Full disclosure: I love Ken in general.)

Do we still have a Clue Crew? Maybe I'm wrong, but I assume their travels have been paused for at least a while.

They're showing the poker game con with Coach scratching his nose. I barely remember it and I'm dying.

Holy shit I didn't even know it was Coach's con in the end!

One of my favorite episodes. Harry the Hat was a great character.

I think Sam was a good reliever but the drinking problem turned him shitty.

That's my memory as well, but it's been some time since I watched any episodes that specifically mentioned his baseball days.

There’s another ‘we’re here for you’ ad I like, from Comcast.  Mostly because there is this whistled tune in it from the 80s that’s so cheerful and catchy, but I can’t place it!  I think it’s a Bruce Springsteen song.  Anyone know it?

It's "Walk of Life" by Dire Straits, isn't it?

    Speaking of a nostalgic memory:

Thank you for the video, BooksRule. It made me cry, that's how powerful a memory it is for me. The '70s were fun and TV-filled.

For my contribution to this thread: "Ed." And because that's such a generic title, I always feel the need to elaborate: the show with Tom Cavanagh as the most likable bowling alley-lawyer ever. It's so weird that nobody airs this anymore. It lasted 4 seasons, and Julie Bowen went on to become a household name (more or less). C'mon, Cozi TV!

  9. I've read two reasons over the years for why Spearchucker was written off. Twilight Man's right that one reason was budget (they needed to cut back on so many 'main characters,' remember that the show was far from successful in its first year). The other reason was the producers discovered that there had been no black surgeons in Korea.

I had never heard of him but he sounds like a prime example of the underdog finding success in America so I wanted to highlight him in this thread.

Thanks for posting. I knew of him (very well), because I live in the Philly area, and he was kicking for the Eagles at the time I was starting to get into football. I vividly remember his special kicking shoe. Sad to hear of his passing.

  11. They did have sex. Back in the '70s, that was pretty common in TV series - they did the fade-out rather than show anything explicit (and especially in a comedy that was considered mostly family-friendly).

Margaret was the one who later said "Nothing happened," but it was just a defense mechanism. Hawkeye called her on it.

Why are the MASH reruns dwindling from TV ? surly it's not because  of the  "68 whiskey" show ?

MASH used to come on 6 days a week. M-Sat. EST

    • Saturday WGN would air it nearly 1/2 day around 11 am ish to 5-6 pm
    • Monday Sundance would marathon from about 6 am to 2-3 pm
    • M-F TVland would air from 4 pm - 6 pm
    • A local station air 2 episodes from 7-8 pm M-F  ---> this is the only one left

It looks like WGN America has dropped it entirely. Not sure what's going on with TV Land. Their website still lists it as one of their shows, but yeah, it's been missing from the afternoon slot lately.

    Hulu has the entire series.

Hand washing tip: Jeopardy "Think" music is two "verses" in 30 seconds.  One verse is 15.  For 20 seconds, go the point at which, if you were a contestant, you might realize "Even if I think of the answer now, I won't have time to write it."

Thank you! Truly. I am so sick of "Happy Birthday" I could barf. The Jeopardy! think music will be my new go-to (for the full 30 seconds, why the hell not).
