I saw ads advertising it as back on May 25, but it wasn’t. If they pushed it back to November, why are they running ads saying May 25?

I know they ran a full series marathon for Memorial Day weekend and had been promoting that quite a bit, maybe that's what you saw?

Oh, Newsday is a real thing? I thought it was just a name made up for the show.

    That's neat :D.

Yes, it is! The paper was founded in 1940. It has usually been in the top 10 in daily/Sunday circulation in the US, and is one of the largest suburban newspapers.

My wife and I go to Disney World roughly once a year (going this year in November)  It's a wonderful place to be, and if you want to think I'm weird for thinking so, that's cool with me.

We went to Disneyland when I was a kid - we flew from New York, Dad worked for TWA, so it didn't cost anything to fly - and 40 years ago I went to Disney World on my honeymoon, which tells you something about how things went from there...

The past 4 or 5 years, GF and I have gone down to Disney World. We go to Sebring in March for the IMSA sports car races (after doing Daytona in January) then spend a couple of days with the Mouse. Since it's usually only two days at the parks, we stay at a Disney hotel, and do two parks. This year we did Epcot and Hollywood Studios (my first time there) but we've done Magic Kingdom a couple of times as well as Animal Kingdom. Last year we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, it was really neat looking out the window of our room and seeing animals grazing.  We don't usually do too many rides, but we'll pick a few we want to try, do some photography, find a good meal, and just relax.

This job had Easy Apply to so everyone who spams jobs with their same resume is probably applying too.

When I was looking for work (18 months ago) I had decent success using LinkedIn for finding appropriate listings. I would usually skip the Easy Apply thing, though, and go directly to the company's website and apply on their employment page. It probably cuts down on some of the noise.

Was it a situation where people were living their lives normally one day in March, where they'd go to bed one day, waking up the next day without a thought of the Colts being elsewhere?  Only to wake up, turn on the TV, and watch the news with people saying, "We're not here anymore; where in Indianapolis now."

No, it was going on for a while. Ownership was looking for a new stadium or renovations on Memorial Stadium for a number of years, but couldn't get government funding for either. They began exploring moves to other cities, and Maryland Senate passed legislation giving the city of Baltimore the right to seize ownership of the Colts by eminent domain. With that threat, Irsay moved the team before the Legislature passed the bill and sent it to the governor for final approval. The actual move that night was a surprise, but it had been known for a number of years that ownership was looking to make a change, whether in Baltimore or elsewhere.

Some stuff about NBC, Peacock, and such...

Almost sounds like you know a little bit about the cable business... 😉

  8. GF said the flags category should have had 'Sheldon Cooper' doing video clues from his 'Fun With Flags' show.

As a native Long Islander, and Billy Joel fan since, well, forever, I would have been embarrassed if I missed FJ.

And then when they suddenly decide they don't like Cheerios anymore,

I'm not sure I understand what this means. Not like Cheerios anymore? I've been eating Cheerios since I was just a little Moose. I had a bowl for breakfast the other day. We're out of milk and going away tomorrow or I probably would have had some today. Kids these days... 😉

  11. I'm not a fan of those assessment either, but when I was looking for a new position in 2021 (my contract role was ending) I would take some of them if they didn't seem too egregious. I had applied to one position, and almost dropped out when I got the email about taking an assessment, but I figured 'what the hell, I don't have anything better to do.'

I've been with that company almost 18 months - I enjoy what I do, it's a good company, great people, decent comp, great benefits. You never know...

They used to do the whole thing -- with a lot more rounds -- in one afternoon in a hotel room in Philly.   (Bert Bell was Commish, he lived in Philly, he got to pick where the draft was).

That was 70 years ago, I think a few things have changed since then.

Jacob deGrom injury update: Rangers ace lands on injured list with elbow inflammation after leaving mid-start

    Quote

Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom has been placed on the 15-day injured list with inflammation in this throwing elbow, the team announced Saturday. To take deGrom's spot on the active roster, right-hander Yerry Rodríguez has been recalled from Triple-A.

deGrom was removed from his Friday night start in Arlington after working three perfect innings against the Yankees. He needed just 28 pitches to record those nine consecutive outs. With two outs and two runners on in the fourth inning, however, there was a conference on the mound with an athletic trainer, pitching coach Mike Maddux and then manager Bruce Bochy before deGrom was removed from the game.

  14. Josh Harris group nears deal to buy Commanders from Daniel Snyder

    Quote

An investment group led by Josh Harris is on the verge of an agreement to purchase the Washington Commanders from owner Daniel Snyder, according to a person with direct knowledge of the sale process.

Harris’s group is “nearing a deal” but it is “not yet final,” according to that person, adding that an agreement still must be finalized and submitted to the NFL. The group’s bid is for about $6 billion, another person with direct knowledge of the process previously said.

The deal would have to be ratified by the NFL’s team owners, who are scheduled to meet in Minneapolis in May. If it is approved, the sale would end Snyder’s tempestuous ownership of the franchise he bought in 1999 from the Jack Kent Cooke estate for $800 million.

Harris is the owner of the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s New Jersey Devils, co-founder of Apollo Global Management and a general partner of the English Premier League’s Crystal Palace Football Club. Forbes estimates his net worth of $5.9 billion. He is also a limited partner in the Steelers and will have to sell that to buy the Commanders.
