Rewatching last night's post debate coverage on MSNBC, it's amazing how low Rudy Giuliani has sunk.

Did you see the exchange between Rachel Maddow and Chris Matthews, after CM interviewed Giuliani?  Rachel said to Matthews (paraphrasing) "with all due respect, I would like to ask you something, and, if you choose not to answer, I will completely understand and respect your decision. I know you've known Rudy Giuliani for a long time. When he interviews about Trump, do you sense something wrong?  Like he's nuts?"

    Omg.

So CM begins with his admiration for how RG handled the 9/11 aftermath. But in the end CM agreed with Rachel.  Said what Rudy was doing was "pure flackery," but not doing it well.

Btw, Matthews has a real hard-on for Conway.  He has said she's Irish and they go way back. Blech. I cannot bear her.

  2. @Padma

My husband is on duty, my beloved puppy passed away four months ago, and we don't keep booze or junk food in the house. Thanks for the company!  And thanks for the CNN poll data. I've been worried that some might be fooled by the DT strutting and strumming and posturing.   Cannot wait for November 8th, one minute after last polls close!

Also can't wait for Jeffrey Lord, Kayleigh, Scottie and, omg, Lewandowski to be humbled.

  3. I think it was MSNBC (though could have been CNN) showed a big fat fly land on Hillary's eyebrow for a nanosecond as she was mid-sentence of a reply.  She didn't flinch, flick, or miss a beat.  Geez, even tough-as-nails Judge Judy would have reached for her flyswatter.

  4. So, on CNN, Michael Smerconish mentioned an interview he did with a Debate guy (not McCurry) at the first debate.  Rumor had it that Mrs Clinton was putting Trump-nemesis Mark Cuban in the front row.  Debate guy said, absolutely not!  Cuban can be there, but not in front row.  Debate people would not allow that kind of antagonistic move.

    Okay.

So...Why were the BillC accusers allowed their prime seating then? Was it because it wasn't on the floor?  It was still prominent, front-row seating.  Ach! I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight.

    Joy Alert on MSNBC!!!

Joy talked about her father being from the Democratic Republic of Congo and that there the leaders always put their political opponents in prison if they can.  Joy's take was personal and now Rachel is replaying what Joy is talking about.

I have come to HATE Chris Matthews' interactions with Joy Reid.  The other day she confronted an evangelical with his OWN words, and CM scolded her for attacking someone on religious grounds. Tonight CM shut her down (or attempted to) by calling her "young lady."  Just no. She handles the disrespect well.  I could not.

Ach du lieber! Sniffing-level at Defcon 1.

I've been an inner-city social worker for a few years.  I wasn't always aware of signs, but now I am. DT's upper cheeks/nose/sinus areas were red and swollen.  His eyelids were bloated. Reach your own conclusions.

I can't sleep!  The stunt right before the debate knocked me down.  So Hillary was once a defense attorney representing an alleged bad guy?  Oh.  Shudders. Disqualifying! (My compassion for real victims of sexual violence is limitless.)

The spouses were introduced to shake hands. Why were the 3 Trump progeny allowed to march in too?  Chelsea and Marc stayed in their seats?

I felt compassion for President Clinton.

Lewandowski declared Trump the winner tonight on CNN.  Whew!  Now I can sleep.

  7. Twenty One Pilots is one of my favorite bands. I thought their two songs tonight were fab.

The Diego Calls His Mom skit was poignant to me. Very real and heartfelt.

Lin-Manuel's opener promised that he was gonna take advantage of his shot on SNL, and he wasn't kidding.  Other than WU and the music, I think Lin-Manuel was in every skit, right?  I saw Hamilton twice.  That guy is a phenom.

Can I say that I hate the Conway skits?  When she turned up on Family Feud last week, I cringed. But I was hopeful it was a one-time thing.  Now she shows up tonight. Kate is great, of course, but, unfortunately she's humanizing the inhuman Conway.  It annoys me.  Plus, Kate playing both Hillary and Conway seems wrong.  I hate it. (Just my opinion, of course.)

Speaking of hate...during Weekend Update, when a guest appears, the camera focuses on Colin and the guest.  Michael is cut out literally and figuratively. Why?  It's wrong.  Tonight's thing with Jimmy and Tina was particularly egregious to me.  (At least Tina said, "hi Che.")  Michael is an equal partner/cohost with Colin.  Yet he's treated as a second-class citizen. No excuse.  Both men should participate in questioning guests, AND Michael should NEVER be cut from the shot.  SNL needs to fix that b.s..

I apologize for not doing any daily recaps for the past few days. I have been busy at work & went to a baseball game last night that ended very late.

It seems that Mika& Joe are back on Team Trump. I wonder why?

Joe didn't deny the meeting at Trump Tower last week had occurred. Did Trump offer them anything? Mar a Largo. Gift certificates?

I know that common wisdom is guessing that Joe and Mika were offered a future "something" at that secret Trump Tower meeting, but I'm leaning more toward blackmail.  The couple's dramatic overall turnaround and tortured machinations to praise DT's faux-momentum are SO over-the-top that they've brought attention to themselves.  Something smells wrong to me.  In fact, I thought the same theory after Trump's daughter summoned Paul Ryan to a private meeting in NYC at around the same time as the Joe/Mika/DT meeting.  While Ryan continues to tapdance around any kind of full-throttle endorsement, I have noticed Ryan being kinder, gentler in his remarks, and, in fact, I thought he  was low-key congratulatory toward DT after the 9/26 debate.  When Ryan said that DT met expectations (a real double-entendre kind of compliment, to be sure) I could smell Ivanka's perfume wafting over Ryan's coif.   Just my opinion, of course.

The MJ show is now UNBEARABLE to watch. Mika and Joe just seem to browbeat anybody who offers different opinions or critiques.  Joe talks over everybody and is outright dismissive.  (Not to mention, Joe is so in love with himself!  It's always the people who could benefit from deep self-examination who have super-inflated egos.)  Mika rolls her eyes and sighs and gesticulates her supposed angst over HRC's failings.  While it's true, I guess, that Mika hasn't publicly rescinded her avowal to vote for H, I believe Mika is signaling loud and clear that she no longer supports the Democrat.

The show now makes me anxious. I've tried to keep it on while I dress and makeup for work but I can't do it anymore.  CNN is not an option either, mainly because of my tendency toward anaphylactic shock when Lewandowski slithers into view. Back to music for me.

The DNA is actually very telling.  It's male DNA, and ruled out as a member of the family.  Those who want the Ramseys to be guilty say it's trace DNA from the production line of the new pair of panties.  But it's also on a couple of her other clothing items which were manufactured and packaged elsewhere.

I don't think they would have ever sacrificed Jon Benet for Burke.  Jon Benet was clearly the favorite.  And even if it happened this way, she died from the garrote.  So her loving parents strangled her to cover up the non-favorite psycho child's crime?

There's also the marks on two separate parts of her body that look to be from a taser.  Why would her parents use one?  How would Burke know how to get one?   I feel most of the true evidence supports the intruder theory.  I saw the special in which the investigator easily climbed in and out of the room with the broken window.  There was also a suitcase found in that room with trace evidence inside of what Jon Benet was wearing that night.  A theory is that it was an intended kidnapping to kill her somewhere else.  The intruder used the taser to disable her, and he bound her and put her in the suitcase.  But because of the way the window well was made, the intruder couldn't get both the suitcase and himself out of the well.  His compulsions over came him and he assaulted her in that house.

And never in a million years would it make sense to me that the Ramseys would kill their daughter, then point the finger at themselves by writing the sum of Jon's bonus.  Makes no sense.  Sure, the ransom note was bizarre and unlike any ransom note ever written.  That's because it was never intended to be a kidnapping for ransom.  The ransom note was the red herring.  It was a sexually sadistic crime from the beginning.

People insist on saying Burke's voice was heard on the 911 call.  The FBI said they can't hear it.  People say Patsy's hand writing analysis proved she may have written the note.  At least four "experts" examined the writing.  Half of them said there was no match with Patsy, one said it wasn't likely, and one said it couldn't be ruled out, but there wasn't enough proof to call it comparable.  Then people say Patsy was ambidextrous, but that doesn't change handwriting analysis.

And I really don't like how Dr. Phil handled the interview.  It's pointless trying to get a grown man to justify the reactions of his nine year old self.  His mother comes bursting into his room in the middle of the night - obviously making sure that he was safe, and making sure Jon Benet wasn't in his room.  That's pretty startling, and in the middle of deep sleep.  And how he described her back then sounds just like she was on the 911 call - frantic and breathless.   Yet Phil thinks this little boy should get up and conduct an investigation?  And then someone else comes in his room with a flashlight.  That would have scared me to death as a child.  I was very much like Burke seemed as a child.  I was quiet and timid.  And I would have frozen in my bed until I felt it was safe to leave, or someone came to get me.  And it's unfair to analyze his body language and affect.  Children can be permanently traumatized and changed by this type of thing.  My seven year old cousin lost his older sister in a sudden death trauma, and he remains quite changed thirty years later.  He doesn't talk much about his older sister, avoids the topic, and is uncomfortable when she's being discussed.   I guess he's a killer, too.

Bolded my me. ^^^^ (Hi, RHZ xox :) ).......I agree.  I thought Phil was focused on and intent on getting a Gotcha!.  Burke was 9.  For godssake.  If nothing else, Phil is father of two sons. Does he have no memory of the the realities of little boys?

I hereby declare my conclusion that Burke is as innocent as his sissy, JonBenet.  Evil walked in to their lives.  Watching and listening to Burke, I feel for him.  Sister murdered, mom dead, dad remarried and moved on.  Burke is on his own, with little to no emotional support. (Dad doesn't have it in him.)   And now, 20 years later, the Phil McGraw vultures are circling.  Man.

  11. Good morning, everyone!  I've been reading and enjoying your comments here all summer.  This is my first MJ post (I think!) and I hope you don't mind my sharing.   :)

I've taken my accrued personal leave this summer, and, so, I find myself following the news much more than ever.  Although I knew of the Morning Joe show,   I never watched it regularly until this late spring and summer.

I'm both fascinated and repelled by the show and its principals.   There's a kind of chumminess and familiarity among the regulars and guests that can often be funny and evocative, but more often than not, just annoying and cringeworthy.

With apologies to Mika supporters, I don't understand her or like her, and I'd like to know how she keeps her job. My observations over the last months have told me that Mika's chief roles are news reader, emotional cluck-clucker and Joe's cozy, personal-space-invading, ogler-in-chief.  Yet, to me, she cannot even read the teleprompter with professionalism.  She stutters, mispronounces words, leaves words out or inserts her own words.  To me, it's often evident when she reads aloud  articles from newspapers or press releases, or transcripts of interviews, that she's seeing the words for the first time. Does she ever prepare?  I often think she doesn't even understand what she's reading.  I feel embarrassed for her.  Watching her trying to formulate a question is mind-numbing.   She likes to pretend that she can't get her words out due to emotionalism or a faux-shock or a WTF mindset, but, really, to me...?  She just doesn't know how to express a well-thought question.  I think she's dim and limited.

Mike cannot even do basic hosting duties.  This morning, Wed 8/31/16, the show opened, camera on her.  It was obvious that Joe S was not there at the studio table, but Mika didn't mention that.  Instead, she looked across the table to intro Mike Barnicle (as a veteran, rather than as legendary.  Thank you God!)  Willie G was seated elbow to elbow with Mike B, but Mika ignored him.  She turned her attention to Donny D, and made a sneering comment about his appearance or dress.  (I understand many of these people are personal, off-screen friends, but both Mika and Joe often cross the line to a kind of bullying, observational barb-exchange, addressing clothing, hair, vocab, mannerisms. Doesn't come off as good-natured at all.  Really uncomfortable to watch.)

Anyway, suddenly, Mika throws a question to Joe in a remote location-studio, no explanation whatsoever of where he is, or why.

And, also, with apologies to Joe supporters, Joe S is,  in my estimation,  immature, insecure, petulant and as big a narcissist and self-promoter as the prez candidate he once adored, but now reviles.  I only recently noticed how Joe and Mika promote his upcoming music performances! He thinks he's a rock star?  Their egos are unchained.   And Joe's latest tweeting war with the Big Orange, read on air, over and over and over, while cackling and cockadoodledooing, are over- the- top lunacy.  In the past couple of years, my work as a social worker with families at risk has thrown me into the nightmares of kids and adolescents greatly affected by social media bullying, stalking and pathology.   There's an online cesspool out there.   Observing Joe often reminds me of the kids I meet and try to help.  Joe himself needs help and lessons in appropriate adult behaviors.  I hate when he uses his private convos with his kids as evidence of his insightfulness. None of it ever rings true to me.

Obviously, MJ is a personality-driven, news-oriented talk show, so I don't expect a straight, button-down show.  But M and J cross the line into burlesque and unintended self-parody much too much for me.

And I HATE how they don't allow their guests to finish a thought, but, instead, bulldoze over almost everybody's points and observations.

Many MJ guests are great, and my mind has been opened by their reporting and experiences, for sure.  However, the show could be so much better.  "Baby" Step 1:   STOP introducing Barnicle as "legendary."  Please!  :)

  12. The show has jumped the shark!  Matching a 24-year-old with a douche who lives in a bus?  I see you, show!

And by the way, why did the show accept a 24-year-applicant in the first place?  She's tried "everything" to find a mate?  Please.

None of the couples will work.  They are horribly mismatched. I don't think ANY of the three men were looking for marriage.

The one guy who smokes and mentions his aunt and uncle who were in a tragic car accident has a weird vibe coming off him, imo.  His eyes are empty, or, at least, too far away and distracted.

It's obvious to me that all these people were found on dating sites.  Other than Sonia (maybe), no one is endearing or worth rooting for. All of a sudden, the show seems pervy to me.

  13. Thank you, thank you, thank you.  I can't tell you how much I appreciate your kindness and support, as well as your sharing stories of your own beloved pets.  Your pups and kitties live on in your memories and loving hearts. Your stories bolster me at the same time they break my heart.

I knew there were many animal lovers on the JJ forums, and that's why I felt safe to share here.

I'm having a terrible time.  I keep replaying Thursday morning in my head.  Her passing was so quick. Lots of people have told me that the quickness was a blessing for her, and, in my mind, I know they're right.  But I am  bereft.

When she received her diagnosis of dilated cardiomyopathy eight months ago, the vets were honest.  No cure; six to 12 months to live.    But the meds would keep her comfortable and give her a good quality of life.  She responded so well; her appetite was great.  She was alert and strong and happy, aware of everything.  I guess I went into denial.

She really saved my life when we moved to the suburbs. I didn't like it here, but  she loved her backyard, the squirrels and bunnies, the mourning doves. She was large and in charge, you know?  She kept an eye on everyone.

Last spring, a bunny family made a nest, and I was scared they were too exposed.  But puppy kept watch!  Also, last spring, a flock of deer started to boldly take over the neighborhood.  Puppy was alarmed, but one young male won her heart. She was something with him, almost flirty.

She and I took leisurely walks, we made friends with neighbors.  She helped me adapt.

When we were home alone, my life revolved around her.  Exercise, feeding, nuzzling.  I think I need to move back home with my parents for a while cause I can't stand her loss.

I miss her presence, I grieve her absence.  I've lost pets before but this puppy is different.

She was so smart.  I once brought her to a dog park (Judge judy alert!) where the pups liked to run and to circle a tree, barking and playing.  My doggie joined in at first, then kind of retreated and just observed.  When she rejoined, she ran in the OPPOSITE direction to get to the other dogs quickly for socializing.  The other owners and I could not stop laughing.

Thank you all so much. <3

  14. Hope you don't mind...wanted to share.  My sweet beautiful pup passed away on Thursday morning.  She was 13 years old, a German Shepherd/Husky mix. Very beautiful.

I found her in a shelter 12 years ago. Still living with my parents and grams, all of us animal lovers and rescuers.  Puppy was nutso!  Chewed and ate everything in sight.

Eleven years later, mama sleekandchic got married.  Nyc girl and Midwestern boy.  Compromised  and bought little house in Bergen county, NJ.  Short train ride to city.

Bucolic, pretty and calm.  Puppy loved it.  Eight months ago, puppy darling diagnosed with terminal heart disease.  Brought her to great vets, got her meds, which we fine-tuned and tweaked.  She was doing great.

Our routine was to let her in fenced-in backyard at around 630 am.  Prepared her meds and breakfast.   Took leisurely walk before leaving for work.  Had three water bowls in house, fresh wawa and ice cubes. Healthy treats.

Thursday morning, let her outside.  Ten minutes  later went outside and found her flopped over.  Tongue purple, eyes vacant.  Called vet, who guided me through mouth to mouth, but our sweet girl was gone.  So fast.

My husband is an er/trauma doc, works ridiculous hours. Puppy was my best friend and faithful companion during very lonely nights.

How I loved her. Can't explain our connection. How I loved her.

  15. So I am watching the newest episode with the case called, Baseball Bat Rage. One cousin suing another.  For the first time in an eternity, Judy was judicious, calm, fair, kind and open to both sides.  I loved it!  Lately, she makes me so angry when she's dismissive of litigants based on her own prejudices...or hunger for lunch.

  16. Right, Porterest.  Like Jake is Brad/Idris/George/Denzel rolled into one, right?! Ha.

Seriously, I believe every person has his/her type, and if that type is what makes them happy, so be it. Pursue and subdue, with love and affection.

But if a person recognizes ( for example, Jake) that a connection isn't his type (Ami) then be honest, split, tell her he doesn't feel a spark.

I think all the guys on this show are gay. Yeah I said it.  They all love their kids and are trying hard to make a good, happy life for the kids. I commend the men for that.

BUT ...STOP pretending to want a woman as lover and partner. Move on. Love the person you should love, or else be happily single.

  17. The Evil Stepmother phenomenon lives on in the 21st century!

Kids KNOW when their adults don't like them or barely tolerate them.  That kind of rejection lives on for an eternity, which causes horrible tragic wounds and consequences.  Any adult woman who consciously decides to barely tolerate her bf's kids just cause she's hot for bf deserves, imo, to be miserable.  However,  innocent kids don't deserve that misery, too.

If this show is legit, the men better get smart about what they're exposing their children to.  Being "best friends," playing mini golf and rough and tumble are not enough.

  18. "Catching the Catfisher."  Really, tlc?  Reminded me of the special on sexual abuse they threw on the air after Josh Duggar's history was exposed.  Calculated moves to attempt to whitewash tlc stars' transgressions.

Meri Brown has made an embarrassing situation much, much worse.  Instead of admitting her anger, loss and grief over the breakdown of her marriage, which then led to an online love connection she hoped would end in a RL relationship, she's spun the episode as a Catfish story, with Meri as innocent, unwilling victim.

Tonight she did a TH about how the laws don't protect catfish victims and how unfortunate that is.  She has no shame, imo, in continuing her fairy tale.  It's a continuation of the Browns' spin on their persecution under anti-polygamy laws.

Perpetual victimhood will kill your soul eventually.  Merit should step commenting on the big bad catfish now, and figure out her own life.  Concentrate on finding legit fulfillment.

  19. Episode 3...Disappearing Dad

Last episode we were given the impression that Jake left Ami alone with his three kids overnight, no explanation, no replies to her calls and texts.  On her first night there.  Tonight, the story is different.  It was her third night there, Jake had dropped the kids at their mom's for the night, and Ami was all alone.  Jake explained he felt overwhelmed, so when he supposedly left the gym, he decided to take a left instead of a right, met up with a friend for a drink, suddenly one hour's respite turned into an overnight.

Two questions from me: first,  who else thought Jake was praying that Ami would take the hint and split? Such a shock for him to see her there waiting!  Second, WTH is the matter with Ami?  Once Jake didn't reply to your texts the night he disappeared, you should have left. You weren't babysitting the kids, you were alone and waiting.

Leads me to wonder about contractual obligations though.  Also makes me wonder why some of these people hooked up so quickly?  Just to participate in this show?  All these "secrets" revealed?  4 kids! Infertility! Crohn's disease!  Bisexuality! Guys with meddling exes, sisters and mothers?

Meeting through bodybuilding sites -- one of THE most narcissistic sports ever invented?  Yeah, great place to meet a loving mate who will love your kids. Not.

I'm not entirely sure about ANY of the men on the show.  Things are not what they seem in the sexual preference reality, in my estimation.

In general, I can't stand the giggling-factor present in BOTH the men and the women.  You've put yourselves on a reality show.  Stuff is awkward. Kids and young teens are involved.  Can you at least try to stop giggling over every new or unexpected thing?

Also, in general, the kid's THs don't bother me because they're highly producer-manipulated for "entertainment value."  To me, it was obvious that Mikey was being fed his line about not flushing the toilet.

All the men have invested too much time in their gyms, tattoos, sculpted haircuts and facial hair, muscle tees,  etc., for my taste.  Just my personal outlook.

Based on the first two episodes, I would counsel Valene and Amie to leave immediately.  Val is not mommy material, and the Mormon dad going to the "gym," and leaving Aimee along in the house as babysitter for the entire night/2:30am are the biggest red flags ever. Time to go.

Poor kids. Spotlights on them are unfair, and they have their dads to thank.
