  1. Free bleeding Britt turned me off as well.  And while I know that the menstrual cycle can affect women differently - I used to get horrifying cramps on day 2 - it seemed like she was bed ridden her entire period.  If I was Sara, I would have done more than make a funny face as Britt talked about how she was empowering herself by bleeding all over the place.

Speaking of Sara, why bring bow & arrow if you don't have the patience to sit in the blind and wait for the prey?  Multiple times she said or alluded to not realizing how much she'd have to wait.

The guys weren't bad; I get the lack of sleep thing and Viking guy wasn't bad.

Looks like next week will be a good one.

  2. Fan challenge was pretty easy for those guys.  Miley was super peppy and the guy was good (can't remember his name.  Began with a J maybe?)

I did find it amusing that of the three times they showed him emptying the fish trap, the camera only focused on what came out when there was actually something in the trap, almost like they knew... 🙃

Have given quite bit of thought to how the plane, jeep and boat were placed on the set.  Guessing a helicopter was used.  We have yet to see a path big enough for a jeep, and the plane crash could easily have been placed by a helicopter.

Yeah, I love how there's a Jeep on the island with no reasonable paths for one.  And I still maintain Bully's group were screwed - they never "found" a legitimate sharp item, like the ax or bayonet.

I'll think I'll skip future iterations of this franchise.  Getting REALLY phony.

It was all fun and games when game miraculously appeared on day 20.  But this is WAY out of hand.  A gas can with apparently at least a liter of gas in it?  A dead boar caught by his abdomen?  Finding everyone else without any kind of map?  I think I may just stick with the regular Naked & Afraid, maybe XL as long as it isn't that ridiculous last man standing.  But this?  Not for me anymore.

The reason we all started watching this type of show was interest in true survival with minimal aid from a few tools in hand. Not because we wanted to see naked people.
The now obvious and continued growth of production interference has taken away the very reason we want to watch this “reality” show, to begin with. Fans are falling by the wayside.

I loved this in the beginning, because it wasn't so faked and producer-driven.  Not quite Les Stroud's Survivorman, but as close as we could get when he quit doing his show.  But now, it's just any other reality type show.  And it's sad.

Wow! Rachel and her leg! ... For her to be sitting and maneuvering around on rocky terrain in the woods with a fractured leg in the first days of her injury, is insane. She is a true and real trooper. Give that girl a Percocet!

That really sucked that she broke that leg, but it really was her own fault.  She swam to the boat, so she knew how deep it was.  Why she jumped in like that, knowing the depth, is beyond me.

As to the most recent episode, Bulent's shtick is getting old.  And he's just being a dick at this point.

With the lack of posts, I guess it's not that popular anymore.  Maybe all the producer input...

Yea I just found it odd how each team *found* something different to salvage to get the tools and weapons they needed.  One found a plane, one found a boat, and the other found a lighter, gas, and yes a fish lol

Team Andrew/Patrick/Heather got the Jeep, TWO lighters and a mirror for fire making, a bayonet and a conveniently beached fish.

Team Candace/Rachel/Justin got the boat, the battery with a charge, an ax and a conveniently wounded Pelican.

Team Bully/Na'im/Kerra got a plane and a mirror for fire making.  Where is their found sharp implement?  Where is their conveniently wounded/beached protein?  Boy, are they getting the short end of the challenge.  🤨

How did Rachel not know how deep the water was when she jumped in?  She was literally just swimming in the water.  Is she that clueless?

Poor Candace, but I would have immediately tapped.  That shit looked painful.

Bully is very much my way or the highway.  As @SassyCat said, he is very much not a team player, no matter who his teammates are.  He's proven that he is much better at working alone.  He should go on Alone.

I have never seen gasoline come in a jug like that.  The jug she found looked more like a motor oil jug to me.  But whatever helped them finally get fire.

  6. While I really wanted Wyatt to win, Alan was my second choice.  So go Alan!

It would have been a kindness to tell Mikey they were going to pull him so he didn't have to say the words.  Really sucks that they didn't do that.  And maybe someone in Georgia can teach him the difference between a mouse and a rat.

I really thought Wyatt had it, because Alan really looked like he was ready to tap, but they psyched us out again.

  7. I think it was a good idea for a fish trap; too bad it hasn't seemed to work.  I do agree that the pelican carcass was pretty gross, but survival.  Use everything you can to survive.

Bulent's crew seems to be doing well.  Na'im might not be exactly what Bulent wants in a team mate, but he's stepped up and he brought in food.

Heather's whiny ass can tap.  I didn't like her in her first challenge, I don't like her in this one.  She's so good at fire, why don't they have it?  And for someone complaining about bug bites, why move to the beach where you have sand fleas in addition to the rest of the biters?  I'm glad Andrew didn't take her shit.

It could be that he's mentioned them, but the show edited that out to focus on the autism angle.  But even if that's the case, I don't think it's too unusual for him to focus on the one child who is most vulnerable, and needs the most care.  He probably doesn't think he has to worry about the other kids so much, while the boy is a constant concern.

Could be, but focusing on one child, even if that child is special needs, can have a negative effect on his remaining children.  I have seen it happen and is it not pretty.

  9. I feel bad for Mikey's other children.  He has barely mentioned them.  But damn if he ain't talented!  Cool toys for the boy.

It is interesting that some of the characters do not mind doing things that will portray them as 'villains'.  Although I do not have the knowledge, skill, tenacity (and other characterstics) to participate on N&A, I would want to be recorded for television as a kind, generous and caring person.

    Villains bring bigger ratings.

Muslim Summer, you look serious about it being an issue she has the same name. Like, taking it as a personal insult.

I swear, Muslim Summer just decided that she she was going to be voted off because they shared the same name.  Hell, my first job, I was one of 4 people in the same small department that had the same name.  Didn't concern me.

Still, while Muslim Summer exaggerated, she wasn't that far off of what LaShonna did say in the boat.  But once you've been caught not telling the whole truth, no one is going to believe you.  She screwed herself.  Was kinda funny, tho, how everyone was "Let's get rid of LaShonna" for the first half of the episode then it's was all hands on deck to get rid of Muslim Summer.

I get that it's "reality," but this really isn't my kind of reality.  I'm not into all this back stabbing bullshit.  I don't know that I'm going to continue with this show.

  12. Candace bragging about her "kill" and giving herself war paint - uh, you didn't kill the poor pelican.  She REALLY got on my nerves.

Not as much as Heather.  Every time she said she knew how to make fire, Mr. Max and I yelled at the TV for her to make it then.  She didn't even take a turn until they were doing it her way.

Since everything looks producer influenced/placed, and lately,  much more obviously so (re: Last one standing and now this castaways show), how the hell did that poor pelican with a broken wing end up sitting right there next to the happened upon boat which had a 9volt battery that still had charge in it, (obviously producer placed).

My son, who doesn't even watch the show and just happened in the room when we were watching, remarked how there happened to be a battery with a charge and a wounded animal right there.

We used to joke about them providing the 21 day survivalists a protein score on day 19-20, but this is beyond that.  You know the producers are throwing up their hands on Andrew/Heather and Patrick.  "We gave you a lighter!  We gave you a mirror!  We give up!  You get no fire unless Heather can make one!"

Fish killing guy? We can't say spear fishing guy or his name (CJ I think)? Fish killing guy strikes me as a bit disrespectful. I eat meat but I'd prefer not to be referred to as cow killer. (Not arguing, just pointing out something I noticed.)

You are correct, Fish Killing Guy is bad.  I apologize for using it.  Let's call him by name, since you know what it is. 😄  I haven't had enough time to learn them, and if they keep adding people, I may not learn them at all.  Except CJ.

  14. Maybe it's just me, but I think Fish Killing Guy (FKG) is trying, but is being very clumsy about it.  And Black Lady (BL) is hot to take immediate offense at the smallest mistake, not just from FKG, but he is her favorite target.

This is going to be a challenge if they keep adding people, but I can already see a couple I wouldn't mind getting booted off.

I had never heard of the original not-reality-TV based experiment.  I've looked it up, but still haven't read the articles.

ETA: Weren't they supposed to replace the Black Rabbi?  They didn't say anything about kicking someone off when they replaced him.

What a yawn fest this season has been.

I muted this episode,  between  Mikey and Melanie the whining is enough.   If Mikey has other children,  I hope he tells them how important they are too.

I agree, I'm not as enthused about this season.  Maybe because so many tapped out so quickly?  Or I'm getting jaded as well.  And I get that Mikey's son has special needs, but he has other children.  I don't think I've heard him mention any of the except Nicolai (sp?).  Which does totally suck for the other kids.  I know from experience.

Bulent...is one of the top survivalists featured on N&A.  We'll see how he does on "Stranded".

Why are they calling these people "elite" survivalists when some of them haven't even made 21 days one time?  Bulent is the only one who's completed more than one challenge out of this group.

  17. Why didn't Andrew keep the lighter intact?  Would have had to be easier to make a spark that way.  If it sparked that one time in his hand, it would have sparked as an intact lighter.

I guess group 3 hasn't found the planted wreckage yet?

Heather is just horrid.  I want her and Bulent to meet up real soon.

    Show wasn't too bad, tho.

I am thinking it might be Mikey who ends up winning this. He is not doing it for himself, as much as he is doing it for his son that he loves and is dedicated to, so very much. He wants this so bad so that he can give his special needs son a more enriched life and future. This goal and strong love, doing this for his sons sake, gives him a will and strength boost no one else there has as a top priority for sticking it out so relentlessly.

I still think he's talking a bit too much about family and won't be able to make it.  I've been wrong every season, tho. 😄

For that, I’m voting Melanie. As much as I want to see a woman win, she seems to be singing those homesick blues.

She's next to go.  She's passed up Mikey in talking about family.

Out of the five that were left, Taz was the last one I would have guessed would tap out now. He was doing so well, he caught a trout and a pike, that's more food than anyone else.

I asked Mr. Max, what happened to all the food he caught?  He had a ton of fish smoking, did he just say screw it and eat it all at once?

He said they were about to turn 18. I guess they're twins. And they live in Brazil. His stated reason for doing this show was to move his kids to the States so he could have a closer relationship with them. So it's not like he isn't used to being away from them. Seems like he quit apropos of nothing.

I'm guessing he just didn't even want to chance any long-term damage.  First sign of fatigue, he tapped.

I'm hoping that the only way to keep Willa safe is to take her to Harlan County and arrange a furlough for Boyd so he can help Raylan take down the baddies (one can hope).

And, I really hope he doesn't hook up with the lawyer (as I wondered the same thing).  Just too cliche.  And, I don't think every show needs a 'love' interest.

I LOVED Walton Goggins as Boyd, but I truly hope they don't try to shoehorn him into the plot.  Even if they head back to Harlan, there is no logical reason for Boyd to be involved in this show.  And if they do it, it will really suck.

As much as I appreciate TO, his daughter can't act for shit and brings almost every scene she's in down (she was good in the courtroom).  It also doesn't help that she has the voice of a six-year-old.

Nepotism really does suck.  She can't act, I can barely hear her when she talks and when she is audible, she sounds like a child.  Glad I'm not the only one.

I am looking forward to some of the old guard being retired and seeing some new up and coming survivalists on these shows. I am growing tired of seeing some of the same faces over and over. Do they do anything besides being naked and afraid?

I'm looking forward to some new faces, as well, but some of the older ones just had so much charisma - Steven, Laura, Matt - it's going to be hard to do without them.

    3 hours ago, jackjill said:

My family emotes "this is what I live for" all the time now for the most ridiculous things, thanks to Jeff.

Yeah, my husband and I have been known to do that as well.  On Alone, a contestant said that a few episodes ago and Mr. Max went "Uh-oh..."

While I was so very, very glad that Jeff didn't make it, I was sad to see Steven go, and most likely, his last, if his words could be believed.  I actually would have rather seen Dan win, because although I like Waz, I thought he was just a little meaner than Dan.  And Dan reminds me of my son.

Not really happy with this iteration of XL, but I'll watch the next season.

  22. I'm still expecting Mikey to be the next tap out.  Talks an awful lot about famiily, plus now there's the no sleep thing.  Really cute letter tho.  "I'll read this one to you, but not the rest."  Dug his dice.

Melanie's "secret" SD card seems kind of manipulative to me as well.  Especially how she said she played to the camera to be "up" all the time.

Nice chess set by Taz.  Someone else did a whole bunch of games and stuff, but ended up tapping due to loneliness, I think.

Poor Alan.  I still think if his smoker works, he has a chance to go far.

I hope Wyatt takes it all.  He seems so down to earth.
