  1. Yes, Helen and Harrison are the reasons we decided to tune it. And I kind of adore Timothy Dalton. Between Penny Dreadful and Doom Patrol and Toy Story (he's a great voice actor), he always adds a special something.

  2. The mid-season preview did show

    Spoiler

Spencer about to shoot a shark, shirtless on top of an overturned boat. So... they'll live.

This is such a strangely paced show. I found the whole speech that Elizabeth gave Jack so strange. So much telling and not showing. So presentational. Also, I guess her injury is all better? Everything always feels so first draft to me, especially with the younger actors. You see how Helen, Harrison, Timothy Dalton and Peter Stomare are worth every penny because they can make anything feel believable and interesting.

  3. Amrit's mom is so sweet and while I know Nicholas has his reasons and his issues, I really really disliked how he lost his patience with her. Complain to Amrit when you're alone but keep your mouth shut around the parents! (Amrit's dad also seems so kind and sweet!) The culture clash is not going to go away. And they're right that he's taking his (yes, legit and understandable) issues out on them.

  4. She was in a 10 year relationship before the show started. Now she's in a new relationship. While I totally get that her partner doesn't want to be on a reality tv show, she's still being a overly dramatic about how it's all very private and secret. But hey, being dramatic is why she's on tv and I'm not!

But it's not fine with Nick.  I feel bad for him, in this instance only, because he was being bullied into a decision by his future spouse and in-laws.  The way Amrit was rationalizing getting his way, using his parent's involvement and Nick's parents' lack of involvement, was gross and unfair.

Yeaah, I get it. I guess his general attitude was just making me unsympathetic. I do feel like this is something they should figure without Amrit's parents around. It's tricky.

Did these two nincompoops do any research before that fertility visit? They seemed shocked at costs and timeline. If they want to adopt, that will probably be another thing to endless quibble about.

Yeah for a LAWYER and a TEACHER, they seemed to have not read a single article about it. When Nicholas was babbling about how it's not fair that it costs so much for other gay couples out there, it was very strange to me. The high costs of surrogacy and fertility expenses is something frequently covered in all levels of media - and it's an issues for straight, lesbian, AND gay couples! I don't doubt at all that they have many struggles, but Nicholas is too quick to say 'woe is me'. Even his whining about the last name is getting on my nerves. I kept my last name and I suggested giving our child my last name because it's very unique and important to me. In the end, we gave our kid my husband's last name and I chose the first and middle name. And it's all FINE. It's not something to get all worked up about when there's no baby on the way yet!

I thought it was very telling how Richa treated therapy like she was going to prove that she doesn't need it and all is fine. When the therapist said, "We should use punishment" or the like, you could see her body go on the defensive. She thinks she's so "strong" with this refusing to sign the marriage document, but it's absurd. It's such a bizarre stance to have after going through the WHOLE BIG WEDDING.

Any one notice that Auntie Lopa said both Risha and Vishal were alcoholics? Then she kind of took it back.

YES! She likes to act superior to him but she is EQUALLY A MESS. I find them very uncomfortable to watch together.

  7. I feel for them because I bet they are being pressured to have what should be private conversation in public... so it can be on camera. Her father and mother are allowed to be worried, especially about custody issues, but obviously it's inappropriate and just foolish to air this out in front of everyone. They are creating a situation where Alexi will never want anything to do with them which is very dumb. If they want a relationship with their grandchildren, maybe don't openly antagonize the kids' dad.

In the trailer when Schwartz blamed his work with the new bar as the reason why he and Katie broke up? I SCREAMED.

It seems it is only possible for Spencer to be the father of John Jr. if Spencer dies during this season.

Spencer can die when his kid is 14 or 15 and still not have "lived to see his child grown." It seems clear (to me) that he's doomed, but he will be John II's dad (who he'll name after his dead brother). John lived long enough to see his kid grown and now he's dead. Jack's wife Elizabeth probably won't be able to have kids due to her injury. So Spencer's kid (or kids) will inherit the ranch, but have "Uncle Jack" to help out. Just like Uncle Jacob helped his brother's kids (Although I guess Spencer is Jack's uncle but whatever).

  10. The tragedy of Rachel is that she was incapable of asking for help and everyone around was incapable of seeing that she needed help. I watched the episode late last night and couldn't sleep it was so upsetting. I think the key thing is that, like Libby says in her VO, life doesn't have heroes or villains. Both Toby and Rachel are flawed and both of them are going through a hard time. The thing that came across the most to me was Rachel's profound loneliness. I'm glad that Libby found her and they're showing women helping each other finally. And whew, Claire Danes is really amazing. I felt her pain so much.

  11. Monica needs to RUN. I felt so sad for her when she was describing Rish's mom as "like a second mom" especially since I know she has issues with her own mom. She is Not your second mom. In the end, she's Rish's mom, she will always take his side, that's her kid, not you. And, cheating or not (he's definitely cheating) Rish is never going to marry her. It's hard watching her be so dumb. She's never really comfortable with him too. Always trying to be sweet because she's afraid he'll dump her. Aaah!

  12. I think one reason I like this show so much is that they really do have long histories together. Those photos of Brian and Monica as 11 year olds (!!) That's genuine drama there. Their families are genuinely intertwined. It reminds me in a weird way of original recipe Vanderpump Rules because the stakes do feel more real and immediate when real feelings are involved, compared to some shows where it feels like the so-called "friends' barely know each other.

Also, man, do I dislike Rish. Liar liar.

I get how Vishal can rub people the wrong way. He's fun, but he doesn't know when to rein it in. But I had to laugh when Richa told him to knock it off with the drinking and she said, "do you want me to tell your mom?" As if he's 16 and not 35.

Yes! They're 35! THIRTY-FIVE! Cut the apron strings, Mamas! These are full ADULTS

  14. I thought it was fun! I love Amrit’s commentary on everything. Also his mom is so sweet. That moment when she said she wanted the boys to have kids at the same time... aw.

And why wouldn’t Anisha explain that she just moved until she got there! So dramatic!

I get a kick out of the parents, but especially Monica’s dad. He seems like such a sweet character. Unfortunately, I don't think Rish is going to marry Monica.

Also I think Richa kind of enjoys her mom being mad Vishal... I know they've been on-and-off for ten years and they seem to have an almost manic-depressive relationship (they're either insanely happy or full-on fighting/crying). Still, Richa's mom has to just accept that this immature bum is who her daughter has chosen!

She also said she likes men who have a jawline.

I like how she thinks this is a big read when she's only telling on yourself. if you like a jawline so much, then why were you with Randall for years and years, Lala? HUH? 🙄

Maybe put some blame on their adoption counselor...maybe she should have explained things better or insisted they bring an adult with them to the final sign off.

Oh they Never would blame Dawn! Even though it was obvious even then that she was selling them on a fantasy. Very sad. And it's not helped by their so-called "fans" who tell them things like "Carly will come to you when she's 18." Such a psychologically unhealthy situation.

I'm glad they use subtitles for Nova, I can't understand her, although her parents do not seem concerned.

Yes! I interact with children younger than her all the time (I have a kid in preschool) and I can understand them all better than Nova. They should make dealing with speech therapy their storyline! Focus on the kids you live with and have custody of!

  18. I know I know that Cate and Tyler didn't have the best examples growing up but... Why is Nova wearing headphones while they're having dinner? Why aren't they talking to her during dinner instead? I really hope it's just cause they're filming. Why is the baby's chair sitting on the table and the counter like that? I KNOW that is not recommended and those seats are supposed to stay on the ground. Why are they surprised Nova is asking about Carly? Of course she is! They talk about Carly allllll the time! I really feel bad for her adoptive parents. UG
