  1. "Right?! And remember how Deacon was the best advice giver? He didn't bullshit Rayna and was pretty much the only one who didn't, except maybe Bucky. Where the hell did that guy go? Now he cries all the time and acts like Rayna is akin to breathing. I know he loves her; he's always loved her. But there was a time when he loved her with such confidence, and that was when she had another husband/fiance! Remember when he kissed her wrist and told her they were in love with each other? Or when he told her he just loved her, too bad, she'd have to deal? Now he's so scared of every little thing. Pull it together, man!" Madam Magpie - Couldn't agree more with that. I'm fed up with the way they are writing Deacon as being an immature idiot, made to look pathetic with his petty jealousy. This episode was crazy. Everyone breaking up, too many storylines, too many characters, too many short scenes unable to deliver meaningful dialogue. There must have been about 40 scenes all consisting of about 2 minutes long - head-spinning. Didn't particularly like the bridge scene - although loved that Rayna has Deacon's ring on her finger - but didn't think Deacon needed to propose (and not on one knee - hate that). Would have been better if he just pulled the ring out of his pocket and said, 'I've got you this.' Thought it was contrived to repeat the 'what would you change' dialogue from episode 1. I can only imagine the wedding will be the same format, rushed scenes, probably a few minutes of Rayna and Deacon's marriage, in order to make room for everyone else's story to be crammed in. But as a Rayna and Deacon fan, I'm glad the writers finally gave us their engagement, with a ring. (What happened to the first ring - I suppose it will never be mentioned again). Liked that Maddie was smiling widely at Deacon when he was on stage - think the writers forgot for a minute that she was supposed to be angry/scared of him.
  2. I didn't like the lead up to that kiss. Didn't like the fact that Rayna was laughing, running onto the roof with him and a bottle of champagne. What was she thinking - probably caught up in the moment I suppose, but a dumb move regardless. Only hoping she puts him in his place.
  3. I love Deacon. Yes, he acts like a jerk sometimes, but I forgive him. My interpretation of that scene, is him saying to Rayna that he believes that Marcus thinks he has a pretty good shot of sleeping with her because Rayna hasn't put him in his place and set boundaries. That's why she goes to his hotel to put him straight. And, Deacon did apologise to Rayna. He said, "I'm sorry I got all heated up, I just got all jealous." As for Marcus, I think it is him that is acting unprofessional. He knows Rayna is in a relationship, yet is ignoring that fact and coming on to her. She should have said something to him sooner in my opinion.
  4. Talking of favourite scenes, I think two of the most moving scenes was firstly, the one where Deacon is at the AA meeting and he describes his awful childhood of how his father attacked his mother with a casserole dish and then he breaks down and says he would never hurt anyone. When he goes to sit down I felt like wrapping my arms around him I was so moved. The other scene I felt was outstanding was the scene with Juliette and her mother, when her mother is telling her how she loves her, and Juliet is saying "0h it matters" or something like that. I was so moved at that scene that I actually cried, and I'm not usually a crier. The acting of Hayden and the actress who played her mother was outstanding.
  5. Telepath. As I posted last week, Riley was on the AfterBuzz podcast and the girls were visualising various scenarios between Marcus and Rayna - one suggested she kisses him and then realises it was a mistake and Riley did nothing to disabuse them of their ideas, just said that they were a little bit right. I just got the impression that something was going to happen and it seems that it does. Like I said, for me it all hangs on how Rayna reacts after the kiss. We shall just have to be patient and wait til next week. I'm just hoping it's not as bad as it looks in the promo and she smacks his smarmy smug face!
  6. For me, everything rests on her reaction to this kiss, but as it stands, it's hard to see how she can come out of it unscathed when we can see her leaning into it and closing her eyes, because that is not the response of someone who is rejecting an advance. After all, she can hardly act shocked and annoyed when she is clearly participating in the kiss. I just don't get it. I can see her laughing and making light of it, but I don't know. I suppose we will just have to wait and see how it plays out. But this sort of confirms what Riley Smith was saying to the AfterBuzz girls. Yeh, my only hope is that Marcus is dreaming it!
  7. Thought this episode was pretty good. Loved the Scarlett song at the beginning, Tennessee. I started watching Nashville because of the music and the Scarlett Gunnar song 'Fade into You' got me hooked right from Season 1. That and the chemistry between Deacon and Rayna. Could understand Deacon getting annoyed with Rayna for not setting the boundaries with Marcus especially when Marcus texted Rayna, "let me know if you want to talk, I'm here for you" knowing that Deacon and Rayna were rowing about him. Then he opens the door to Rayna half dressed with two drinks in his hand, expecting what? Not Rayna saying back off, Deacon is my guy. Ha ha. Marcus is such a creepy character and he is loving coming between Deacon and Rayna. Loved the final scenes with them. So good to see Deacon with a guitar in his hand - wish he had some more songs this season. The look on Deacon's face when she is telling him she loves him and that nobody is going to come between them, is gorgeous. And then, he's sorry he got all heated up, "I just got all jealous" - he's so lovable because he just can't believe that she is his. But next week's promo is terrifying - she actually kisses that creep. What the hell!
  8. Being a fan of Rayna and Deacon this promo is hard to watch. She seems to lean into the kiss and she definitely closes her eyes, which are not the actions of someone rejecting an advance. For me, everything rests on her reaction with this kiss. However, it's hard to see how she can react accordingly when we can clearly see her leaning in and closing her eyes - after all she can hardly act shocked and outraged if she is participating in the kiss. I don't want to imagine the worse, and I know I should wait until next week to see how it plays out before getting worked up, but if she just mildly rebukes him, then that's very bad on her part. How are we to believe that she truly loves Deacon (she told him how much this episode when she said, "I love you, I've loved you my whole life ... and there's nobody that's gonna come between us") if she is doing this? I just hope I am wrong, but I have a bad feeling about this, despite knowing they get married.
  9. Sutton, I agree with everything you've said. I know this is old ground, but keeping Maddie a secret from Deacon, after he was sober for so many years, was so wrong on Rayna's part, and she never gave a good enough reason for doing it. It would have been more believable if she had said she was afraid he would stop loving her if he discovered the truth. As to Tandy, do we know she is going to be negative? She may like the way things are going. Hope so.
  10. Thanks Airwair. I know about the wedding - really looking forward to that. Hope they can let them be happy for the rest of the season, but I doubt there's much chance of that.
  11. Thanks for explaining that. Sounds bloody awful, oh god why can't they make them happy?
  12. A jealous blow-up fight? But what have they got to argue about that could possibly break them up? They've only just got back together. I really don't like the sound of this and hope it's just your prediction and not in the sides. But I agree that the writers of this show seem to like this kind of drama even to the detriment of their characters. Not looking forward to the next two episodes if this is how it's going to play out - but just hoping it's not as bad as that.
  13. With regard to the AfterBuzz girls I think some of them still root for Rayna and Deacon but it was when one of them said she predicts it will be Deacon's insecurity that draws Rayna towards Marcus because of Deacon being a crazy person. Another one said they will fall into it by accident and realise there is a spark there and although she said Rayna would diffuse it, it was the fact that she said there would be "spark" there and no one said, "No way, that's inappropriate! But hell, with these writers the girls may be right. For me though, it will be bad if Rayna responds in any way towards Marcus, other than being professional. When he held her hand in the last episode I would have preferred if she withdrew it quicker than she did. And I hope, if Deacon is feeling insecure she reassures him immediately - and the writers don't drag this out.
  14. I wasn't too worried about this Rayna/Marcus thing until I watched those AfterBuzz girls when they seemed to think it would be kinda fun for Rayna and Marcus to have a fling. Not one of them said, whoa, no way! And then when Riley Smith said they had got some small things right, it got me worried. I agree with Madam Magpie when she said people in stable relationships don't go kissing douchbags at work! But who knows with these writers. In the promo, when Deacon says to Rayna that Marcus wants to sleep with her, I hope her response is to laugh, and then say something like, "well I haven't encouraged him and I certainly don't want to sleep with him and why would I want him when I've got you." After all, Deacon is a man, not a boy!
