I was rolling my eyes (as usual) at O'Keefe. Although he is technically correct about McClendon's official cause of death not being true, ANYONE can die of a heart attack. My friend's boyfriend was under 40, in great physical shape (ate healthy, ran marathons), and died suddenly of a heart attack. We were all shocked because there was NOTHING to indicate this would happen. Not everyone who has a heart attack is an old obese smoker with a history of heart problems and stuffing their faces with cheeseburgers.

I am one of the people who hates the music for the opening credits so I usually watch it once at the beginning of the season and then skip it for the rest of the season. I love all the pictures of young Claire though!

I'm glad that Maggie made Carrie go to therapy. I just wish she would have talked more about Quinn because I think that she needs to process her grief.

I was half expecting the 4chan guy to be some pimply faced teenager in his mom's basement, but when he sent her to that creepy neighborhood I was afraid it was a crazy serial killer who was going to lock her in his sex dungeon, which made me hope that she had Max implant a tracking chip in her arm so that he could find her. I don't know if it was her lack of money or her meds not working that made her think that going to meet this guy was a good idea. She hasn't always made the best choices, so I was really afraid she was going to end up having to make a sex tape with this asshole. I've never been so happy to see someone get head butted.

Heh, I laughed when Carrie yelled, "I'm CIA, motherfucker!"

She pulled it out of her boot. You can see it at the 52:55 mark.

One of the things about Carrie through the entire series is that it seems she keeps adding a chapter to the book of Stupid Things People Do In A Horror Movie. I kept on thinking serial killer as well. But "I'm CIA..." might come back to haunt her. I can't believe a super hacker planting ransom viruses wouldn't have a back up and/or other equipment including cameras. He still could leak the surveillance. This was a missed opportunity to bring back the hacker guy from Germany rather than go the Criminal Minds route.

And yes the heart attack as soon as the General arrives in prison. Pfffttt. That's perfect Okeefe fodder.

So far I get the impression S7 was poached last minute from current events,, social media & other shows intentional or not .

I must confess that I ceased to like Saul in S5. First, he behaved badly towards Carrie and for no other reason that she wanted to leave CIA and have a normal life with her daughter which he should have accepted if he really had liked her as a human being, not a tool for CIA.

Second, Saul murdered Allison and did that simply as a personal revenge. If he had behaved like a professional, he should have captured her or rather let the German police capture her (the car was on the German soil or in any case outside Russia) for her interrogation would have been useful, indeed necessary in order to know what secrets she had revealed and what damage she had therefore caused to US intelligence. True, they had her supervisor but if they could have made better results if they could have compared his testimony with that of Allison.

Actually, I can't understand how Saul could continue to work in CIA. Even Astrid knew that Saul and Allison were lovers. Carrie told PEOTUS about "the leak in Berlin". Are we really supposed to believe that Saul and Dar succeeded to keep Allison's betrayal secret inside CIA? How was that possible when they had the Russian defector, Allison's supervisor? (Oh well, this is fairytale: in S5 Saul interrogated Allison which would irl have a job for counter-intelligence as Saul couldn't have been neutral toward his subordinate and lover.)

Considering that Saul owed also in S4 an obligation to Dar who got the video about his humilation (and even then the personal interests won over the interests of the country!), it's no wonder that Saul was blind towards Dar and told him about the meeting with Javadi.

The participating in the killing of Allison was not Saul like. Probably at the behest of Dar who helped cover alot of that up. Astrid might know but shes from a different country. She's not high profile enough to do anything with that info other than in Germany. She probably has skeletons too and Dar knows them.

And yes Dar covering up or minimizing Sauls humiliating video is soft leverage on Saul. Dar is political. He is strategic and knows how to work people for favors or compliance in this case. Especially with spy training and experience working people for information and favors.

Saul was in the first car and it was the second one with the African American young man who was COS that was blown up.

"I never forced myself on anybody." Said every pedophile priest, ever. Way to lampshade Dar's irredeemability, show!

Exactly. Dar's character had the foundation laid of being shady just by making him the dirty work guy(assassinations etc) in S 2. He was from a part of the company not many wanted to deal with. Just the fact that he was willing to kill a US congressman(Brody) tells one where his scrupples are at. And it rubbed off Quinn ie when he stabbed Brody in an interrogation on domestic soil. They left it ambiguous a couple of seasons but his scheming this along with he doesn't 'force' anyone leaves no doubt. And probably would be the type of guy that could do that kind of work and not think twice about it.

Dar is part of Quinn's troubles. I think Quinn regrets all the killing even though he thinks like and is an excellent soldier. When he accidentally killed the kid in Venezuela that basically stopped him from becoming another Dar. But Quinn knows the reality of what he done over the years which is why is depressed and suicidal. That and not advancing his relationship with Carrie sealed his fate. The gas chamber experience just reinforced his deteriorating attitude.

Why did the Iranian Intel guy kill the man who rescued him? As much as I wanted to pay for killing his ex wife and daughter I did not want to see him tortured like that. He's still cagey on the nuke program.

I just started watching//binge watching the series the last month after getting an intro offer with Showtime and this is  the first epi to comment on. It was the bleakest epi yet but I think there was a lot of set up here. This is where I stopped I will continue binging soon. I hope this doesn't turn into a show where all the characters and/or story just disappoint the heck out of you.

    Final nail in his coffin.

They'll replace him, hopefully YNB gets the gig.

She popped into my head as soon as the question came up what will they do. I'm surprised YNB hasn't been given a greater role by now regardless of recent events.

I think Ms Chloe definitely believes her story. I can't picture her putting herself on a limb to anonymously trash Hardwick. The next step is more 'evidence' or just admit it's about him.

So if crossing is so strictly regulated and a single crossing, how are all these spies and assasins and what not crossing?   Why let anyone through with “visas”?    I guess inter-world politics and relations will be covered more as time goes on?

What is the eventual goal or end game. Merge back into one world? Are they trying to make everything equal hoping things will merge back into one world?

Are they sure it was an accident or there really is a parallel universe?

  7. This seems like a reconfigured Cold War spy novel or movie. In many of those stories the bad guys win or the spy/mole is revealed at the end. In this case they won.

Baldwin is psycho which will be her downfall wanting to watch people die. And as with many of these super duper under cover spies with mad combat skills with little time to workout or practice Quayles wife gets the upper hand on the agent? Just as bad as the red shirt security guards who stood up right in a non combat stance making themselves a high profile target.

Hope 'management' doesn't get to far fetched.

I think part of the point of this epi was that the Howards became more like each other as part of a nature or nurture debate.

If Quayle's wife's dad isn't part of this if he finds out she's an imposter he could be the one to wind up taking her out.

Also in Cold War Berlin with a wall wasn't the area near the wall filled with mines considered 'no mans land'. Also heard the East German would let a killed escapee's body sit for hours as an example.

  8. Cancelled-sniff sniff. No more pretty people.

As mentioned a third season it could've really picked up some steam and compared to some of the shows out there it was not that bad. Also another show moved out of a time slot where it made it's bones not the greatest idea early in. On Sunday it was going up against too many established shows, Saturday night not so much.

Lee Remini still queen of scientology shows.

  9. The final epi alone could've been different. When the Jennings minus Henry left the garage they should've comeout to waiting police and FBI. They could've done a Tarintino shoot out. Just wounding one of them could've lead to some interesting dialogue and debate when it came to surrender, cooperation or defection. They could've simply surrendered realizing times up.

If I want art work I'll go to a museum, not a tv set.

  10. I'm disappointed. Psycho serial killer Liz gets away with it. 3 dollar bills Liz and Phil lie to Stan like two bit thugs. We needed more justice than leaving their children behind who practically raised themselves to begin with.

The musical montages and prolonged scenes as usual did litte to move/add to the story. Series final and we get music videos along with a dream/nightmare???

I was surprised when Paige agreed to go with P & E in the first place. I was wondering why she didn't put up a bigger fight to stay. They eventually got that right.

Although you wondered who or when somebody would get shot in garage it wasn't the most fantastic scene ever. I would've been more satisfied with a tragic bloody ending for those characters. In theory Stan could be in trouble for leaving the surveillance and be accused of warning the P & E. There is so much possible aftermath which they simply did not touch.

Do they have raspberry or tomato symbols here.

  11. Eh not bad not great. I think they're working too hard trying to shock or surprise you.

I will say unlike other shows and movies Eve the analyst doesn't have ninja skills and it shows. I don't know about openly messing with ex KGB in their own country. There was some stupid things people do in a horror movie here.

Konstantin's daughter stole the show. When she found out Anne and Eve had an affair 'Oh God', lol.  I knew the Mandarin would get Eve. They mentioned she focused on French.

Konstantin isn't dead. Carolyn tried to avoid the subject. For once they get a puncture wound correct-never pull out the object in which Vill begged Eve not to do.

They can go alot of places with this including actually killing Eve. She becomes the target because she winds up taking revenge on all those she thinks wronged her and the 12 are hired to get her.

  12. Technological issues on the Americans included the Star Wars missile defense system among others including a submarine silent motor I think it was. In the final season it's a radiation detector of some kind. To me suspicious deaths or an unusual amount of deaths involving these programs or manufacturers should've/would've raised alarms much earlier with the FBI and others.

Although not American scientists when over a dozen Star Wars scientists die under unusual circumstances suspicions were raised.

    http://www.ufoevidence.org/documents/doc826.htm

One things mentioned the Russians weren't the only suspects. There were terrorist organizations that would've loved to stall an arms race with event in the west. Don't forget the anti Vietnam War movement festered a lot of terrorist bombing type activity.

I think many of the murders would've raised a lot more suspicion even from local law enforcement who might have released sketches of suspects to the public.

  13. For some reason I felt this epi wasn't as good as the others in that I think it sort of wound up being a cheap action movie. That being said that had some pretty interesting characters and interactions. I know it's a tv show and they're Russians but it was high body count that would've raised all sorts of suspicions.

Vill(Villanelle) played the same possum game on Konstantin  in epi 1 so she knew what to expect when it came to Inga.

Also Vill commented to Eve when they had their 'dinner' that they both could be working for the same person so Carolyn is probably in on it. The question is she trying to cover it up or clean it up/close it down?

No more Konstatin and Vill business meetings?  Was the Anton actor from Dead Like Me? When the gun was prominently displayed in the scene you knew what was coming.

  14. Don't know where to put this actually but to me I find striking similarities between Blindspot S3 in particular and the BBCs Killing Eve. If not gimmick in style.

City/location in big bold letters, music. international flavor and instead of a female lead , Roman is the Blindspot's eve, an assassin looking for a home and a 'connection' with those pursuing them. The style or look this year reminds too/so much of Killing Eve.

Eh, watch too much tv I guess

Me too - I've watched each from the beginning, but I seem to forget a lot!  I totally need a flow chart or something.

Ok, so they did know of each other because Red hired Tom to be with Liz (I must have blocked that!) including a Faux Bro who was also hired by Red?  Then Berlin fits into this mess?

Wasn't Tom a contractor for Lance Henriksen who was hired by Reddington to watch/protect Lizzie? So Tom eventually would've discovered the client or simply know him through underworld circles/cultures.

  16. If they are going to insert political subtext one topic at a time please.

What was the killed owner of the apartment role in all this other than a client with a dark web camera set up?

Emergency response crews couldn't have taken up sniper or better/more positions to take out the bad guys from different angles?

The guest star actress did a good job setting aside the story. As did the badie.

But the sanctimony followed by more sanctimony with cliche infusions of 'gut instincts'.

The cop taken hostage should be furious with Benson for giving up her weapon, I thought that was rule one, never give up or lose that weapon.  Future internal affairs investigation?

Whew, glad I don't watch every week.

When Stan sees the surveillance photos of the meeting with Father Andrei it's over for P & E.   Not much of a disguise, just glasses.  I assume that the FBI is at least as fast as the One-Hour-Photo store which were all over in the 80's.

Stan and the FBI might figure it out but P & E might actually escape. What puzzles me though just to solve some the murders involved in P & E missions I would've released the sketches and/or even offered rewards for information years ago. You get the murders you get the spies. They issued artist sketches in the 1980s.

Which is a shame.  Even with all of this shows faults, it is still better than most of the other crap that is on television.

It seemed anyway that they kept pushing back the season start times. I think they first year it early in the new year/January which made for a greater chance of someone watching it. By the time the time April or May roll around  outdoor activity and  special occasions pick up. Running January through March other than other tv shows there isn't as much to compete.

I really really wish they had done one stand alone episode in the USSR, with P&E's USA counterparts doing the same kind of thing P&E have done -- killing innocents, stealing stuff, whatever -- to show a balance. It's hard to sympathize with P&E as soldiers without actually seeing that the other side was doing the same kind of thing, which they most certainly were.

As I've thought about it that way, I hope they all get out. They were soldiers fighting for their country, and I if I reverse the nationalities, nothing really seems that bad in a fictional sense. But it would have been good to see that perspective at some point in the show's run. An American audience mostly sees them as bad for doing stuff to US -- it would have been a good balance and provide some empathy for P&E if we had seen US Illegals doing similar stuff to THEM.

It would've been much harder to get away with some of the stuff P & E did because the USSR was a police state, If Soviet defense factory workers, engineers, security guards all of the sudden were murder victims alarm bells and manhunt procedures would've been put into to play much quicker. Also in the US had/has  higher murder rate with more unsolved murders so many of P & Es murders literally could've gotten lost in the shuffle.. The Soviet motivation mostly about never let another World War II happen again along with spreading communism. The Soviets exploited WWII veterans and patriotism to the max.

  20. Finally a body count was mentioned. Hello, people dying at defense contractors with security clearances working on secret projects should've raised alarms and been investigated  years ago. And E's little girl calling her mommy a whore is not enough justice  for me.

Did they pull the motor on that washing machine or grease the floors because it looked E almost threw it out of the way to get at the secret compartment. It almost looked they sped up P's Olympic run at times.

When Claudia was talking to E and hands were out of sight under the table I thought for sure she would pull a gun on E leading to a struggle and someone dying. In coup or secret organization/faction I guess Claudia didn't have resources to put a hit on E at least yet.

They used P & E flashbacks more in S1 and now they have flashbacks? I still think E is still 'just following orders' type.

Was the phone call to Pastor Tim a set up for the final or give all the characters a final scene. I can see Paige winding up doing missionary/peace corp type work if things go sideways which could be her epilogue.

  21. Predictable but the time filler games are over for now. Lizzies personal pursuit of number 17 indicated there might be more afoot than an apprehension followed by a q & a.

Did Lizzie knockout FBI or did the escapee at hq. Lizzie putting hand over camera could raise suspicions. Lizzie shreiks and shrills totally phony. I was hoping they gave the guy a vest and put in witness protection but then she would have to reveal the scam. But yes how the heck can an informant kill in front of  law enforcement.

I think Dembe is getting tired of the body count. He pulled the guys out of the elevator  and commented 'he didn't know about the bag' when Red killed the captured rent a crook.

If Lizzie's foster dad was a carny was fake red a grifter? But where did fake red get international spy and criminal skills?  Still have to go with a KGB double from the farm in BL Redemption.

Revenge driven Lizzie/MB much better and fun to watch.
