They seem to be following the Peaky Blinders rule: Tommy [Will] can't be happy.
-
True that.

I was so happy to see Joe again! Aiden was OK, but he was no Joe. 😘

He said that line so casually 🙄. It was like, "Don't forget to pick up some milk." And her reaction was just as blasé. That's not how real people talk about cheating on each other. It was wasted screen time. If Ormewood is a principal character, show me what it is about him that makes him a good, bad or indifferent cop and why he should or shouldn't be trusted in Will Trent's world. The home life can come later.

I'm already bored with the predictable Ulster-in-prison story line, and I hate the "is he or is he not Will's father?" I consider this really mediocre writing for a fantastic ensemble of actors, but maybe this is supposed to be a middle-of-the-road kind of show. I wish they would have had Will delving into his mother's background and finding family members on his own rather than Ulster just handing it to him. This show is pretending that there's no 23andMe or forensic genetic genealogy that is regularly used by law enforcement to find people. Le sigh. Having said that, I look forward to him finding the "family you don't ask for" and all the drama that will ensue because there's a reason his mother was a working girl on the street. But hopefully, he might find a family member that's worth holding on to. And once again, Amanda showed why . . . The snake ID and then the take-down of that rich pervert was excellent! Felt bad for Amanda waiting 10 years for a man who turned out to be gay. Even though that kind of situation still happens today, it's so much better now that more people are able to be their authentic selves.

Cricket was a great character, and I thought it was a bad move to kill her off. She could have been recurring for future story lines. The strength of this show lies in the characters and the actors. The writing is OK, but not top notch. I will always think of Sonja Sohn as Detective Kima Greggs from The Wire. I love that she gets to shine in this role and always looks fabulous!

S01.E04: Curiouser and Curiouser
dramachick replied to Mr. Sparkle's topic in Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches
Rowan goes off on her own because she subconsciously (or consciously?) wants to be with Lasher, so she seeks him out. She has lusted for him since that airplane orgasm. She has sex with him in her dreams, just like Deirdra, and that supernatural sex must be out of this world! 🚬 That's how he hooks his Mayfair witches. Lasher told Carlotta that Rowan was already his because it was true. The struggle will be in trying to tear her away from him. I also thought Rowan was poisoned with all that swallowing and carrying on. 🙄 It seems like something might be up with Ciprien's boss. The way he brushed off Ciprien's concern was too nonchalant considering that Rowan is number 13.- 30 replies

When Carlotta saw Rowan wearing that necklace, she knew all her efforts against Lasher were for naught and enacted DEFCON End-It-All. I've got to respect her for that, even though I hate that she stabbed sweet Ciprien. But not to worry, Ciprien has a witch-doctor who can fix him up! I've never thought Rowan to be brilliant. She has achieved all that she has because of her inherent magic. Once that is distilled, what is left is a basic woman. So I'm not surprised when she does dumb things. The whole episode was worth it just for Ciprien cooking those eggs. 🥰- 30 replies

The answer might be on the web page for The North Side Skull and Bone Gang: https://www.neworleans.com/events/holidays-seasonal/mardi-gras/history-and-traditions/the-north-side-skull-bone-gang/

Never work for witches. 😧 Damn, Carlotta. I know you want to get rid of Lasher, but you go too far. Rowan has been in a fog all her life because why else would she be a young, beautiful and successful neurosurgeon living on a freaking boat in San Francisco doing one-night stands for companionship? Ciprien is a great character to help her get out of that fog and master her powers, especially since it looks like she's going to be in the middle of a tug of war between Carlotta and Lasher. And no telling what Cortland is up to. Such a nice touch to have Ciprien and the maintenance man speak Creole. Medieval days were hell, but at least you could die high if you had a good midwife. I like this show. I find it eerie and entertaining, which is all I can ask of a TV show about witches in New Orleans. Tongayi Chirisa is a beautiful man. 🥰

I liked the simultaneous orgasms! Anne Rice was all about the erotica, so I expected nothing less. When the doctor removed that necklace from Deirdre's neck, he not only freed her but freed Lasher too. Lasher acted as Deirdre's familiar in connecting with Rowan so it wasn't surprising to me that Rowan would also experience that sexual intensity. 😮 Loved when Cortland asked, "Where is he?" The flashback was done well to show that the Mayfair witches were more than medieval wise-women; the supernatural was attached to them. 😬 I'm looking forward to next week!

I really enjoyed the first episode. I love the Mayfair Witches Trilogy, and I thought the show perfectly captured the atmosphere and the mood surrounding the tragic Mayfair family and the dangerous creature, Lasher. I used to follow Anne Rice (🙏🏽RIP) on Twitter, and she was a lovely, smart, and funny person. I'm glad AMC has taken on the adaptation of her works, even though I don't like vampires. Looking forward to the rest of the series! 🙂

Paddy Considine has been fabulous! He is a great actor. The first time I saw him on screen was in Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1980, which is the second film in the Red Riding Trilogy. If you like dark, gritty crime dramas you should watch the trilogy. It also stars Andrew Garfield, Sean Bean, Mark Addy, David Morrissey, etc. You can probably check out the DVDs from the public library if you don't want to pay for streaming.

I haven't seen Daemon show any concern for the common folk. He viciously attacked a messenger for bringing him bad news and killed an innocent servant so that he and Rhaenyra could marry. He encourages Rhaenyra's worst impulses -- to what end? Didn't he want to be heir to the Iron Throne? Will he be content to be Prince Consort or does he have a long game? Will Rhaenyra grow old with him -- or not? Does he view his daughters as pawns to be used in furtherance of his goals as Otto has used Alicent? Does he love his daughters? Or is he completely indifferent to them? In my opinion, Otto is a multifaceted character. Daemon is not.
