Sacca has this weird, overly forceful way of talking, whether he's in or out that gives me this kind of "I think it and therefore the end" vibe. It really annoys me. He seems like a very instinctive, knee-jerk reaction guy, rather than someone who can be swayed by additional data or logic. It may be a character he's playing but it's quite off putting and I just want him to shut up.

    Emphasis mine.

I've always gotten the sense that the night before taping, Sacca comes up with as many "witty" comments/pseudoburns as he can ("Kids these days text a lot...texting and driving! No wait - I'll say my great-grandma said it so it'll be quirky!" [self high five]) and then spends the next day regurgitating them at every silence that goes longer than a beat. Can't you just picture him in his cowboy shirt at craft services, screaming "OLD PEOPLE ARE THE ONLY ONES NOT USING UBER!!!" as Daymond is looking through the sodas to see if any Diet Cokes are left?

If I were the belly dance client, I don't think I would be thrilled that an utter novice was cast for a paying performance.  It irks me that the discipline of all types of dance is treated with such disrespect on this show.  (Dance geek rant ended.)  :)

To say nothing of the revenue they lost when diners lost their appetites after seeing Whitney lose her skirt. Real bad financial decision, Restaurant.

Also, why did she give that dude her phone number immediately? I would have messaged on the dating site a few times. She didn't even ask his name or ANYTHING. Moron.

Excuse me while I adjust my tinfoil hat, but I still don't buy that Nathan was procured via dating site, unless you count the job board where the "bumpkin love interest" bit part was advertised. The Word document draft of her personal ad was just too weird, unless the site she is on was just that vehement about keeping her from forming an association with them (certainly possible).

  4. I liked Sophia's talking head that was literally "I hope someone forgot an ingredient so I can win." It just seemed like the producers got mixed up and fed her a line that was supposed to be delivered by a wide-eyed 9-year-old with some type of jaunty accessory on Chopped Junior.

I loved the part about the dishwasher being a dish rack.  I knew we had a dishwasher, but my mom had me convinced that it was broken.  She just used it for storage, and we had a dish rack on top of the counter.

I'm in my 30s and only after reading this post did it occur to me that our dishwasher might not really have been broken for my entire childhood.

In the intro they showed him behind the line at the restaurant. But the minute I saw his knife skills, I knew he was going down!

When I saw him hacking away at the pork belly, I honestly thought that I must be wrong about my own knife skills if that's how a co-owner at Le Cirque does it. Guess not :/

I'll have to watch again but it looked like only about 25  spectators were there.  For being a radio sponsored event, you would have thought they could have found more people to show up to watch - maybe entice them with free handouts like food, gift cards, etc. I guess TLC didn't want to put the extra $$ out since they already had to pay to rent the gym.

I liked how the radio station sponsoring the event didn't even bother to direct paid employees to attend. I wasn't paying close attention to Roy's explanation of why he wouldn't be there, but I'd assume that whatever it was actually translates to "my employer doesn't think this is worth paying me for".

  8. Oh man this show is great. All the Emmys for whoever edits it! High fives especially deserved for Whitney's talking head about Jenzi's impressive resume and what a big deal she is being immediately followed by Todd's "I have no idea who this Jenzi person is."

Still think Maney is on this forum to anonymously vent his frustrations, and if he isn't, he should be. I caught his quietly simmering rage starting to bubble over in the studio right before Roy cut him off/saved him from Whitney's wrath. #freemaney

I am doubtful that this is going to end in anything but offensive stereotypes.

Don't be so gloomy. It's not like this is the show that brought us such gems as "platinum gay" or anything.

Also, am I the only one who had never heard of the cliché of lesbians and horseback riding? Or was Todd shrieking about Whitney and Amanda's "lesbionic" afternoon not the most astute cultural commentary?

Saw this posted somewhere else. I guess other people were curious about the scale too, screenshot of the scale and it does say 365.0

That answers the question of where Will got that fragile-looking scale! I spy a CVS logo. Maybe he got it with his ExtraBucks rewards; business can't be booming when TLC basically aired a public service announcement warning people that going to Will's gym comes with a risk of being sexually harassed by Whitney. One could even posit that Buddy somehow sensed this danger and that's why he showed up to that one training session 5 minutes before it was scheduled to end.

  11. I get that Mattie's feeling some type of way but if anyone is going to call someone out on bringing in negativity, I really don't think it should be the one who no showed for a workout video shoot, and then once she did arrive, turned out to have left her knowledge of the choreography at home.

Also, did Roy edit this episode himself? How much fun did he have with his girlfriend tonight waiting through all the "Roy led me on" moping just for the mic drop moment of him suggesting a dance-off?

Almost OT but I'll say it anyway. LauRen and her pretentious pronunciation can kiss my ass. Both she and that other dude are complete assholes. Roy, run. Just run. You are better than this.

I kind of feel like I wouldn't be totally shocked to learn Maney posts in this forum.

his other friend's comment this week in the pool hall about maybe hooking up with Heather's cousin/sister

Even Derek looked embarrassed by his friend being so gross in front of the camera. You could see him clench a little, like, "Not in front of company, bro!"

Nick is really sporting those "Section 8" t-shirts. Sonia is even wearing one during the "pillow talk". So what gives that they are allowed to wear these shirts?

Isn't Sonia a social worker? I assumed he dressed like that for the casting calls and the experts recognized his interest in the Housing Act of 1937 as a sign they were meant to be.

  15. Todd was the MVP of this episode for me. He called the glove compartment the "glove department," which I found adorable, and I'm choosing to assume his response to Whitney's explanation for her insane purple makeup ("I believe what you feel") is some kind of New Age equivalent to "bless your heart".
