DO u think Val really is inlove with Jenna? I mean I guess noone really can answer that question but I just do not feel the chemistry between these two. It seems like she is way more into him than he is to her. I think he cares for her and loves her as a person but I don't think he is inlove. I feel like he is settling because he is getting older and wants what his brother has which a wife and family and JJ is there and ready to give him all of it.

She's obsessed with him, but I think he gave up and settled because he realized no other woman will have him. The man is 32 and doesn't want to end up alone. Jenna will never accept a nice Mormon boy because they'll never be Val in her eyes, so basically no one else will have either of them.

Ooh, Schmoe dancing to a song called Zero.  I hope that’s what he gets across the board.  Can votes save him if he gets all zeros??

I don't think so because they take this week's votes with next weeks scores. It's the perfect way to get rid of him because the judges will know what score range to give him so when they combine it with his votes he's gone.

This is also just my own opinion, but I also think it’s been a pill that Jenna had to swallow early on, to a lesser extent than Karina and in a different way. Jenna has straight up said how miserable she was and all the confidence issues she had in her early years at dwts. Some of that was body confidence issues (per her admission) but I think it was also she wasn’t getting the attention in LA that she was used to getting in the competitive dance world.  Growing up with Lindsay, Wit and others, she was the one with the technical accolades and was used to winning.  Then they go to LA and Lindsay and Wit made it to both SYTYCD and DWTS before her and both became successful pros when she was still languishing in the troupe, yet in her world she was the stronger dancer.  I don’t know that she knew what to do with that.

To be fair to Lindsay (and Brandon, since they were dance partners), she would usually place close to Jenna whenever they were in the same competition. It was Witney who basically bombed on the Dancesport circuit. Her competition record looks to be a lot shorter than the other two.

There was an article I read a couple of years back about how Karina was an icon to the rest of the pros because she was such a star in the dance world that they all idolized her, rather than seeing her as an equal as they did with each other.

To be fair to Karina, she's very close with her best friend/manager Lindsay and is godmother to her child. I don't know if she has a lot of female friends, but she definitely has one.

Interesting. What Wendy said surprised me because I never heard a pro be spoken of in that way by a past contestant. I thought it was kind of tacky for Wendy to say that on national TV.

I think there's also something to be said about being a good dancer versus being a good teacher. I believe there was a debate several years ago about Karina and Cheryl, in that Karina was the best female pro dancer, whereas Cheryl was the best female pro teacher. I see Lindsay as one of the better teachers as well. Jenna's a good dancer, but I think she's a crappy teacher.

During S20, Wendy Williams was talking about the Kym-Robert romance, and she mentioned how nice and friendly Kym was when Wendy did the show. Wendy said Kym was beloved at DWTS, but Karina was not. She said Karina was the type that has no female friends, and seemed vain and self-involved.

I'm still in wait and see on Brandon, but it's early going.  I was more impressed with his work over on DWTS Jrs. week one so far than here, but that has nothing to do with Tinashe.  His choreography has been fine, but I also haven't been wowed yet.  But again, that has nothing to do with Tinashe.  I don't really have much of an opinion on her yet, which is probably worse than me having a strong opinion.  Then again I don't have a strong opinion on a lot of the competitors this season.

I don't know if this is totally true, but I did see someone say elsewhere that when they were perusing the Facebook fan comments this week that random fans seemed more anti-Brandon than Tinashe.  Meaning they weren't complaining about her, but were complaining about him coming off cocky and etc.  Mind you I have no idea what that is based on exactly.  I haven't seen anything particularly cocky from him, but who knows.

I think the problem w/ Brandon is that I don't think he and Tinashe have a particularly close friendship yet. Milo/Witney, Alexis/Alan and Demarcus/Lindsay all seem to be really fast friends already. Their body language when they're getting judges critiques seems a little distant, as if they've only known each other a few days.

Social media yes, but not Facebook, which is the only social media platform the show still uses for voting. These kids are into Instagram, Snapchat, Tumblr, etc. Get them to trend something - that they can do. Pick a phone and vote or go on Facebook to do it, not so much. That's why with the exception of Jordan, many of the Disney kids or contestants with strong tween/teen fanbases, haven't won.

Don't forget that Jordan was 23 - six years older than Milo. He sounded mature for his age and also did Hamilton on Broadway - hence the LMM connection.

Maks and Peta are both still following him.

I also noticed Val congratulated him while Maks didn't even acknowledge the post. And I realized that Tony was not at that dopey show Maks did a few weeks ago where he expected people to spend $1,000 to see the studio instructors dance. In the past, Tony has been at all the DWM related shows and events. In fact, he was probably the most engaged with the studios out of the three of them.

That's good to hear then. I would like to think Maks is happy for him, especially since Tony seems like a nice person.

No, Tony joined as a partner before Val, but he's not a founder. I remember quite well that Tony joined while Maks was off in Ukraine doing The Bachelor. I remember thinking at the time they did it in case Maks's fans didn't react well to him doing that, so they'd still have a DWTS pro to fall back on.

I thought it was weird a few weeks ago when Maks and Peta were in NYC and Maks didn't go up to CT for Tony's charity golf tournament. I'm guessing Maks isn't too happy with him.

Wow. Maks and Tony seemed like friends for life, like Derek and Mark.

On Tony's Insta post announcing his new gig, someone posted that they noticed Maks and Peta aren't following him anymore.

OTOH, Val did enthusiastically congratulate him.

  10. Announcing the bottom six was very helpful in determining where the couples stand at this point.

    I'm guessing the ranking is:

    Demarcus

    Juan Pablo

    Bobby

    Tinashe

    Milo

    Joe

    Evanna

John (we know he was eighth because he was originally in the bottom six)

    Nancy

    Mary Lou

    Danelle

    Alexis

I believe Jensen is going get the opportunity to be on dwts over Cole and Magda which to me are much better ballroom dancers. Jensen danced better in other styles than she does her main genre. Jensen has more pull unfortunately. Speaking of pull, I wonder why kiki hasnt jumped on the dwts badwagon since he has good with the chosen couple Val and Jenna.

Kiki was actually part of the original troupe, years ago. He did three seasons.

  12. The odd thing about Brittany though is that was phased out in favor of three non-ballroom dancers: Hayley, Britt, and Morgan. Isn't the whole point of troupe supposed to be people who study and assist the pros so that they become pros someday? If they replaced Brittany with someone like Magda from this past season of SYTYCD that would make much more sense. Like, how is Hayley going to be a better pro than Brittany when Hayley has only been doing ballroom for a couple of years?

Brittany also has very close friendships with many of the pros, so I'm sure she knows how to hustle and play the game just like her friends did. Maybe producers thought she was too similar to the other three Utah girls, and since she was the last one hired she was the first one fired.

I am honestly afraid you might be right.  No.  Just no.  Jensen does not have the personality that Lindsey does nor does she have the dance chops either.  It would be as bad as watching Allison Holker on there as a pro.  :(

No one could possibly be as bad at teaching Latin Ballroom than Allison was.

And watching her and Lindsey together, it was so clear that Jensen is not in Lindsey's league as a dancer.  Hate to break it to her, but she may always be Lindsey's sister to us.  Hoping she doesn't end up on DWTS.  We still love that show and have zero interest in seeing Jensen on it.  Magda maybe.  Cole maybe.  But not Jensen.

I have a feeling you'll be disappointed then. No way is DWTS passing up the opportunity for Maks and Val 2.0  They probably already have the contract ready for her once the Top 10 tour ends.

The fact that the show had the girl from one of the most recognizable music videos of the last five years (who on that same job had the task, by the way, of helping to teach a celebrity how to do a long-form partner dance with ballroom elements!) and never used that fact to their advantage, whatever her "maturity" issues or not, always struck me as odd. If Jenna had booked a similar gig that same year it would probably have gotten her a pro spot even sooner. I also think there was something else hinky there with TPTB, and not due to issues on Brittany's part.

I also still wonder if the show's ever cared to try to get Paul Karmiryan, or if he's rejected any interest. Because 1) he's fantastic (on the shorter side, but not so much it would be an issue) and 2) he's worked quite often with Brittany C, including for the Sheeran stuff, so if it's the show that's declined interest I would have to wonder again about what larger connections are faulty.

Yes, I totally forgot about Thinking Out Loud. That makes their treatment of Brittany even more bizarre. If Jenna had done that, not only would she have been promoted sooner with a huge ringer, but we'd never hear the end of it from Val, Maks, and the Fam.

Paul K. said on Kristyn Burtt's podcast that he fell out of favor with the producers after he got injured while rehearsing for a Noah/Sharna dance. He said he "didn't fit the puzzle of the show".  Was he referring to his looks? Height?

I think they brought Maks back because he wanted to come back and had always been one of their most popular pros. But I think they've come to realize since then that he's not so popular anymore.

Totally. His choreo was lazy with Amber, Alan ended up doing most of the dancing with Heather, and skipping out on Vanessa that one week may have been a career-ender.

  17. Brittany Cherry has had horrible luck on both DWTS and SYTYCD. Going into season 10 of SYTYCD many thought she and Jenna would both go far like Lindsay and Witney did the previous year, but Brittany was eliminated after one week while Jenna became the judges' fave. She was originally fired from troupe after season 20, but was rehired at the very last minute when Lindsay was partnered with Alek. Then she was fired again after S21, rehired for S23 to replace a promoted Jenna, and again dropped after S24 to make room for Jenna after she finished being an All-Star for Kiki on SYTYCD. Pure said after her initial firing that she had some "maturity issues", but what 20 year old doesn't?

I think Tony was retired because of his age. He was 43 and not getting any younger. I think they brought back Maks to fill that "void", so to speak.

In my opinion, yes, I think Maks and Derek genuinely don't like each other. I already suspected it and reading that stuff in US Weekly only further convinced me of it because if you were Derek, would you like someone who accused producers of favoring you and essentially downplaying your success? And simultaneously, Maks wouldn't make those claims against someone he likes. Now I do think Derek and Val are friendly - best friends, absolutely not but I don't think they dislike each other. There is definitely a healthy competition though and I'm sure both want to beat the other and I would expect nothing less.

Do you think the Derek dislike applies to Peta, her friend Sharna, and Val's girlfriend Jenna? Does Maks try to, in effect, brainwash them against him? I'm talking personal terms, not professional/competitive terms - as in "don't socialize with Derek if you don't have to"?

For some reason I'm fascinated by the personal, outside-of-work interactions between these people LOL.

However, in my opinion, there would be no narrative if there wasn't something there in the first place. In other words, they're not fabricating an entire rivalry that doesn't exist at all. They're simply taking advantage of a tension that is already there.

You think they genuinely don't like each other? Sometimes I don't know what to believe when it comes to the C-Bro/Hough friendship. There are several conflicting signals.

  20. quoting myself for the first time ever, I knew it! Congratulations to Allison and Twitch!!

You must be psychic! I must admit I was skeptical when I read the prediction last month, thinking she had just gained a little weight.

I'm a little surprised by her timing though - I would have thought she would have timed a pregnancy so that she wouldn't show at all until after this season ended. If she's at four months now then the moment of conception was around the end of last season - it's like she went straight from the freestyle to baby-making LOL.
