She is a very tall woman and that can make her appear bigger than she actually is. She will never be wispy thin, its just not her body structure.

I thought skin removal surgery in the thigh area where she seemed to have large masses of fat would assist her in walking and exercising.

Also, as an "aside", if she would could run a comb/brush through her mangled hair it might really enhance her appearance.  It looked like she had been a bleached blonde at one point and was growing it out (doubt it was that new "ombre" look) so maybe a haircut would be in order??  Perhaps, in the follow-up, she gets some desire to create a neater appearance than she had in the show.  That would probably help if she ever wished to find employment.

Watching a repeat - I didn't remember her shower scene. When you see her stomach you really get an idea of how big she is. Maybe it's just me, but the long shirts and skirts hide a lot. You don't see the physical-ness of her obesity. She must have been miserable. I'm so glad she took things seriously and has had a happy ending.

I wonder if Nikki ever had skin removal surgery??  I noticed when Dr. Now saw her last time he mentioned his expectation that she would be at her target weight in 1 year; HOWEVER, he (as he usually does) never mentioned when she'd be ready for skin removal surgery.  I looked online for updates about her but didn't see anything.

Nobody would speculate or discuss whether the children are delayed if their parents didn't broadcast them on nationwide TV. Bill and Jen obviously have decided that they don't mind the public commenting on their children's shortcomings. TLC money seems to be more important to them than what people discuss regarding their children.

I don't think any of the Klein/Arnold families have any interest in reading these boards nor do I think they directly read the Facebook posts that are prolific.  I think the publicity/production people from TLC read them but don't pass along negative comments.

I noticed that there were many negative comments regarding the children's behavior on Facebook a while back; however, recently I noticed a change.  With very few exceptions, only favorable comments are posted.

I watched the episode yesterday. Did I actually see Zoe swat Jen's hand a couple of times in the chef's kitchen? Can't believe that. She's going to be a force to reckon with when she's 14. Not cute at all; I don't really care for their parenting style at all. I have 2 of my own and I would NEVER tolerate any behavior of that type. They will be 'doormat' parents, afraid of losing their children's "love"; they already don't have their respect. I put love in quotation marks because I think those children are likely bribed in to their lives with Bill and Jen. I don't think they have a true sense of real life. Who lives so lavishly as they do; go to Disney World on a whim, travel internationally like they do. A child Will's age wanting to go to China has no real basis of desire IMO. He asks; he gets. No idea of the magnitude of a trip like that. Mostly wasted on a child of his age; perhaps when he's older and would/could appreciate it. I also noticed that Will was placed in a pre school class with 4 and 5 year olds who seemed more mature than he did. Why not put him in an appropriate grade level class?

I have many of the same thoughts.

I wonder if Will and Zoey have any understanding and/or appreciation of the fact that MOST children in the USA do NOT live the lavish lifestyle they do???  Even parents, who may be financially comfortable, do NOT access their children to all these material things ad infinitum seemingly to excess.

I know the kids are on the young side; however, these are the years when values are instilled.  Constantly indulging them with excessive creature comforts on demand may not result in success in the character-building department of life.

I don't understand everyone saying how cute Zoey is when she talks.

She's not cute, she's talking back and being disrespectful.  Would you think a 16 year old talking back to their mother like that is cute?!?

    SMH

Zoey's speech is impossible for me to understand.  Sometimes I see the closed captioning and can't match what the caption says she's saying and what I hear.  Will's speech is a bit more understandable; however, I recall them saying he had a problem with hearing and goes to a speech therapist.

  6. I am taken by all the INTERIOR stairs within the house.  It seems there are many rooms where the family has to go up or down several stairs (even when answering the front door.).  I shudder to think of any of them taking a fall onto those hardwood floors.

I recall looking for homes and immediately rejecting any with "sunken living rooms"  because my parents were older and I always believed in a distracted moment any of us would likely trip and fall with those  stairs that many people call "attractive nuisances."

I really hated the way Zoey screamed right into Jen's face "Don't tell me what I don't like!" That child needed about a two hour time out for that little trick, and yet got nothing at all..not even a dirty look.

Can anyone please enlighten me regarding the speech issues each child has where TLC must put up "subtitles" of everything each of them says?  I think I recall there were hearing problems that Will had that were diagnosed and treated some years ago; however, I don't recall anything similar with Zoey.  There is definite improvement in Will's speech but I still can't make "heads or tails" of what Zoey is saying without the subtitles.

Of course, this has nothing whatsoever to do with the essence of both children who are absolutely precious.

Now I decided I needed to lose some weight (actually my scale decided for me) and I have changed my eating habits. I’ve been eating healthy foods, no carbs and no sugar, alcohol or caffeine. Sticking to 1200 calories a day. I’ve been doing this religiously for almost 3 weeks and have lost a total of only 6 lbs. Plus I try to move around more.

The people on the show lose a lot of weight fast because they change their diets so drastically and have so much weight to lose.

If you have only a moderate amount of weight to lose, the normal expectation that I was taught was 2-3 pounds/week so you seem to be on track.

I eat basically what you do as I lost 100 lbs 15 years ago and have kept the weight off.  I watch the show religiously as it reminds me of what could have happened to me had I let my compulsive eating continue without end!!

The only thing I add to what you eat are healthy fats (avocado, EVOO and nuts/seeds) as without that I would keep losing weight and my greatest accomplishment has been maintaining a healthy weight for a long period of time.

They did suck for allowing that poor kid to have a camera in her face while she was so terrified.  And anyone who is on a reality TV show are fame whores. Especially people like this couple who don't need the money.

I have no clue who the people you mentioned are but a fame whore is a fame whore.

I disagree.  I think Jen and Bill DO NEEED the TLC $$$$ to live the opulent lifestyle they have become accustomed to on the show.  I understand Jen makes excellent $$$ and Bill's business is successful; however, with their mult-million $$$ home, luxury cars (many) and every other expensive creature comfort they provide for themselves and their children, the TLC cash comes in very handy.

Some on here are saying that kids adopted from other countries need to be returned to visit those countries, so they can see where they came from. Also that they need to keep up on their original language, culture and customs. I am thinking if that is the case, maybe these kids shouldn't be brought to this country at all, if it harms them so much to lose their original culture etc? Maybe they need to be adopted in their home countries and they will have a healthier out come? Myself, I think they should be treated like other immigrants to this country, to assimilate as much as possible to what will be their new culture and life.

I completely agree with the idea that a sense of confusion might occur with too much emphasis on pushing the notion of the kids' countries of origin.  Instead of assimilating into the American culture and traditions (with whatever ethnic contributions most of us practice), some adopted kids seem to marginalize their adoptive parents to focus on finding their "real" birth parents when they are adults.  In the case of these kids this might be intensified by wishing to return to their birth countries to conduct this search and perhaps staying there if they are encouraged to consider their birth countries as "home".

I agree, but I think the kids pull away and are not compliant.  And Will seems to weigh more than Jen.  My thoughts were if you lose control of your kids when they are little there is no hope when they are bigger.  That's how I thought of things raising mine.

I think Jen and Bill should ALWAYS have some average-sized nanny (or whatever job title he/she might have) to accompany the family on any trips/excursions.  I'm always concerned that Jen (especially as she's only 3'2") is going to be physically bowled over by Will, in particular.  As he grows, I'm not sure Jen is going to be physically safe around him.  Just normal kid "behavior" is likely to put her in physical jeopardy.  I guess having any assistance for the family might not fit with the producers image of portraying them as "normal" in every way; however, I think they are unnecessarily creating a hazard where none is necessary.

  12. I re-watched this episode last night and was struck by the amazing transformation David's new teeth made in his appearance (and his life)!!  Having a somewhat similar transformation (I had advanced periodontal disease for many years and saw dentist OFTEN) I can say the cosmetic (and structural) dental procedures are EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE!!!  Thousands and thousands of $$$.  I wonder who paid for David's dental procedures???  My thought was if he didn't have the $$$, a dental clinic would have pulled all his teeth and given him cheap, ineffective dentures.

You would think on a carefully documented show that immigration would see or find the aired footage at least while vetting these people.  But, Moho is still here and that was a case of 2 idiots "frauding" each other.  Maybe the show worked in regard to Luis, but I think Molly is smarter than Danielle and would produce video evidence of their failed relationship.  In the case of Nicole and Azan, maybe Robalee will sent in footage on the sly to the powers in charge of Azan's visa.  Maybe Nicole will become even sadder by having a long distance husband that she never sees because she is in the states and he is stuck overseas.

I read on another website that there WERE actual irregularities on Nicole's Sheriff's Dept. record (I believe driver's license suspensions and other related matters) that she "whited out" when she made the "copies" that she brought with her to Morocco.  Maybe the actual infractions wouldn't kick her marriage application out of compliance with Moroccan law; however, the "whiting out" part probably would be sufficient to deny her a marriage license.

That said, the thing that stands out to me is that Azan apparently lives quite a comfortable life in Morocco with a family who seems to live a respectable "middle-class" life there and apparently has the means to possess thousands of $$$ in disposable income(or savings)to pre-pay wedding arrangements for this mis-matched pair of miscreants.

WHY in the world would he want to come to live in the US???

Especially with a "woman" whom he obviously is not attracted to on any level, least of all, physically.

According to the media "buzz" Azan is a professional "gigolo" type who's bright enough to keep multiple women interested enough in him (for reasons I cannot fathom...but that's just me) to financially support him in various ways.

Is he making any $$ from this series?  I doubt it.

Maybe his whole con is to gain world-wide attention and publicity from this gig (the show) and build on his reputation as a "ladies man" to possibly land a woman to wed who is much more attractive and at least somewhat better able to support him  (maybe wealthy family) for now and in the years to come...there may be a method to his "madmess!!"

  14. I saw 2 shows but for some reason that was it here on my Cox Cable in Phx, AZ.   I FF'd several weeks and there were no more airings of the show.

I thought it was a refreshing take on interesting recipes in a farm setting.

The one thing that I kind of cringed at was her husband working on machinery with grease-laden hands being handed her version of a melted cheese sandwich.  I thought she could have included a wet wipe first!

This is it exactly. He doesn’t want the resources available to him. He has therapy at the ready. He refused. He has a diet told to him. He has personal care givers. He doesn’t want any of it. He wants to be in a care facility and everthing else isn’t good enough. He even said after that appointment with Dr Now that ‘he didn’t get the help he needs’ meaning the care facility. He has LOTS of help. It’s just not what he wants.

I think Sean should be placed in a long-term care facility where he can wile away his time on a controlled diet, doing his crocheting and watching TV.  It is very costly; however, with his acute needs I think that is the most efficient way to go.  Chances are, if he doesn't thrive there, he will likely reach the end of his life in a dignified way.  I think any other more aggressive approaches (like therapy and skills training) is a total waste of time for Sean.  I think the assessment piece alone is very costly and has little to no chance of success. I don't see him deviating much from the lifestyle he had with his mother (with the exception of the calorie level) so just assisting him to live with a very basic lifestyle is the best he probably can do.  Also, unlike assanti (and some other agitators) Sean has a more placid personality so he would not likely be a challenge to the management staff at the care facility.

Do we think Annie is actually becoming a pretty good actress?   Or is David just hip to this whole plan solo and he springs it on her so at least we get her "real" reactions for the camera?   I was watching her face intently and I saw nuances of different levels of disappointment, hate, rage etc.   If David is just supposed to do all this and go back to Thailand or wherever to rinse and repeat a different version of this grifting lifestyle with or without Annie then it's clearly just a show manipulated by Chris and David for publicity.  They have the longer con in place.  The only question remains is how much does Annie know?

She's getting good at shouty, bitchy, ragey, disappointed, cussy eye daggering delivery of her lines.  FACK

What about all the $$$ he makes doing the show.  At first I heard it was $1K per episode ($4K/month); however, then I read that for the known "talent" their take this year is more.  Same would go for Nicole.  This would be sufficient $$ for them to survive.  I also saw that Annie had an Instagram account and there was a pic of her sipping an "umbrella drink" in Hawaii after it said they visited Las Vegas.  Maybe the entire plot line of "poverty" is producer driven to add to the drama.  Also with Nicole.

Shame on all the kids for not helping Amy clean up after their Christmas celebration. Babies aren’t an excuse for laziness- it looked like none of the kids even brought anything to the gathering. Amy seems so close with Baby Jackson and awkward with Ember- pretty sure we all know why : Ember’s mommy is a shrew.

Aren’t Jeremy and Audrey campers?? Get out the camp stove and make do ! Even a weeny roast over a campfire can be a festive Christmas dinner if you make it fun!

I am team Chris- he seems pretty cool ( plus I want to run my hands thru his silky white hair ?). Karen seems extra, and shady. Matt is an ass.

I think the entire family has gotten so wealthy from proceeds of filming this show (I bet their participation fees for appearing in each episode is increased every year) it is sufficient for them to take for granted that someone will be hired to clean up the party for Amy (and Matt).

Maybe Tory has no immediate plans to return to teaching and the other three show no signs of engaging in meaningful "work" because they believe filming the show is their "work."

Does anyone know how much $$$ each receives per episode?

I'm assuming they have been on the air so long that they have very competent agents, financial planners and household staff and have amassed quite a nice "next egg" (in addition to the amount the farm would probably bring on the open market with the prices of real estate in the US today).

Not defending them, but maybe Family Chantel is paying for her tuition, but she's expected to pay for her own books, uniforms and other incidentals like her stethoscope. I don't think that's unreasonable especially since she's in her late 20s and presumably has been working since high school.

Why wouldn't Chantel be on the receiving end of Federal Student loans and grants (especially for studies in the medical field that are in high demand) that include amounts for books, housing, transportation and a number of other things.  My understanding is that a HIGH percentage of students qualify for these loans/grants.

We also all thought that she expressed herself in proper English, which was another first for this show.

It was nice to see someone who was not cheating on the diet. Did we even see one fast food stop?

Jimmy sure popped up fast. While I am glad that she had someone supportive, I hope he is there for the long haul. I was surprised Erica mentioned she was thinking about marriage and having kids with him at the end of the episode. Isn't she 45. I guess maybe she was thinking adoption? but that might be a hard path too, if she is not finanically stable and has health issues. Did the show ever say what Jimmy did?  What made me worry a bit was it said he was in a 15 year marriage that ended. Then he is suddenly living with Erica and we never saw any kind of job, Just him and all his stuff in one duffle bag. I just hope he didn't find a comfortable old friend and find a way out of post divorce life turmoil.

I was confused when she told Jimmy that she gained the weight from 250 to 660 when her mom died a few years ago and then Doctor Now said the mass he removed had been there for 15 years?

What were all the blurred out photos all over her CA house? There was the Shaq #34 Jersey that was not blurred but the living, hallways and bedroom had many framed pictures/photos hat were blurred? At first I thought were they pin up girls? or Pictures of Erika ? There were too many to be some favorite family member.

I read upthread somewhere that Jimmy was engaged for 7 years to a woman with 4 children who passed away a short time prior to him reconnecting with Erica.  There was even a link to a Gofundme page for the deceased fiance's family.

  22. I felt happy watching Erica's story unfold in the follow-up and discerned true caring and commitment from Jimmy.  For whatever reason, their paths seemed to cross at the most appropriate time in both their lives and they seem to have the foundation for a healthy relationship.  I, too, remarked to myself that Jimmy seems very "normal", employable, even tempered and affectionate toward Erica despite her unique challenges.

Of all the shows this season (including the "where are they now" segments) Erica's story was the most satisfying to me.  I truly wish them the best of luck and I hope we can see her "final reveal" when the huge stomach overhang is removed!!

I think that Nicole will be in for a huge surprise when she finds out that Section 8 housing won't allow Azan to live there (I don't know but am just assuming she has Section 8 housing).  She will really go after the state government at that point.  I wonder if that's what her father was implying when he said Azan couldn't live with her.  If she lost her housing she would totally demand that her family pay her rent.

I too have a high cable bill (includes cable, internet, and phone), but I enjoy my shows... and I needed the fastest internet available for my doctoral program.

I believe I read that nicole's grandfather's church owns the room where she and Mae live (in squalor) and charges her no rent.

I believe this started with the Asanti boys and the HUGE ratings they produced.  With the exception of James (the one with the prosthetic leg), I can't recall even ONE participant in the latest season that showed any reasonable chance of success.  Maybe they think that's what the audience wants???
