Love & Hip Hop: New York - General Discussion

I find Papoose and Remy to be a breath of fresh air, in contrast to the overdone annoying love triangles and baby mama drama. I would much rather see more men like Papoose in the L&HH franchise (who seem to truly love and respect their ladies/families in their lives), rather than the likes of Rich, Cisco, Self, Dreski, and Peter. My heart hurts for Remy and Papoose. I'm rooting for them as well. Disappointing that Dirty Feet Pete is still at it. Peter is in his 50s and several of his children are adults. If he hasn't changed by now, then he will never. It's also pathetic that Tara has wasted so much of her youth on Peter. The best thing Amina did was move to L.A. far away from the madness. For her (and her daughters' sake as well), I hope she stays in L.A. How convenient that now that Amina is done (for the time being), that Peter returns to Tara. JuJu is so gorgeous to me. She looks like a thicker Gabrielle Union. Kimbella is so broken and looks depressed this season. I remember when she was on the second season of the show and appeared much more lively and bubbly, a stark contrast to this season. Juelz has really put that woman through the wringer. Even when she tries to put on a happy face, she still seems miserable inside. I remember in an earlier season, she spoke of her dysfunctional childhood and her parents' abusive relationship. It's not surprising that she will continue to stay with Juelz, no matter how miserable she is. Manfeecees must really think he's the Sh*t, having all his baby moms bicker and fuss over him. Samantha, Erika, and Yandy are all fairly attractive women. It has always been disappointing to see a educated woman from a well to do family like Yandy settle for this drug dealing thug, have children with him and now has to be embroiled in some baby mama drama. She really could have done better. She was smart to not legally marry this thug but she should've made better choices in picking a better father for her children. -

This season for the most part has been a letdown. I'm pretty much over ATL at this point. If the rumors of Mona firing the cast are true, I can't say I really blame her. Most of these casts' storylines have ran their course. Joseline is no longer entertaining. She has really become mean-spirited and malicious. For someone that thinks she's supposedly better than the rest of the cast, she seems the most bitter and salty. I'm not even sure why Rasheeda and Kirk have lasted this long on the show. They're not entertaining and honestly should have been gone seasons ago. I still don't understand why Tammy was brought back either. She wasn't even interesting when she was on the first time, a couple seasons ago. Waka is barely on the show and always "away on tour". While they might be "broken up" now, Tammy ain't going anywhere and will continue to put up with Waka. I wish they would've kept Kalenna over Rasheeda and Tammy. D. Smith and Betty Idol were too condescending for my tastes. I'm over K. Michelle. I was so disgusted with her "Nappy headed b*tches" comment. The nerve of her to say an ignorant comment like that all the while wearing that a full head of that hideous blonde yaki weave. I hope she stays gone for good. Stevie and Joseline should go their separate ways for good at this point. Their relationship is toxic and their storyline has gotten too dark (especially in light of those recent molestation allegations). Tiarra pregnant again with baby # 5...SMH. Scrappy and Mama Dee have ran their course as well. I would think Scrappy's proposal was cute, but it just comes off as another way to extend his time on the show and have a potential storyline for next season. I would be surprised if they ever actually go through with the marriage. Scrapp is Mendeecees 2.0. I hate that these folks treat going to prison as some sort of rite of passage. It was heartbreaking to see Scrapp’s son tear up on the phone with him and now we have another child growing up without his father. I’m tired of seeing families tore apart due to their parents sh*tty poor choices. -

I know this may be an unpopular opinion, but I felt uncomfortable watching Rich discuss in detail his teenage daughter's sex life on national TV. His teen daughter's sex life should not be used for TV fodder and should not be exploited as a storyline. He is obviously using this storyline as a way to fend off the deadbeat dad claims he's been receiving lately. The Peter/Tara/Amina triangle is played out at this point. They might as well become sister wives at this point. I feel sorry for neither woman because they knew he ain't shit yet they continue to allow him to play/manipulate them. Peter is pushing 50 years old and has a village of kids by multiple women. If he hasn't matured by now than it's unlikely he ever will. I'm liking Remy and Papoose as well. Like others I hope Papoose doesn't let Mona ruin him and turn him into Kirk Frost 2.0. He is a breath of fresh air at this point. As far as DJ Self/Yorma/Cardi B. Their storyline has been played out many times over various L&HH installments and I'm not really interested in theirs. I'm over the music producer/rapper paddling between his long suffering doormat girlfriend and sidepiece storyline. -

My final thoughts None of the men on the show (with the exception of Omarion) seem to value or respect the women in their lives. I can't get past how blatantly disrespectful Soulja Boy is to Nia. It is pathetic how Nia is so quick to throw blows and jabs at Nas but won't go hard at the one person who has disrespected her the most on the show. But I guess the same can be said for 90% of the women on this show. What makes it much worse in Nia's case is that she has a small daughter who will soon be old enough to see how Mom allows the "men" in her life to treat her and disregard her. I hear Omarion and Apryl won't be back for the next season. Not surprising considering Omarion was barely on this season and Apryl didn't really have a storyline. Hell, even their storyline during the first season (the overbearing mother who butts heads with the girlfriend/baby mama) was a rehash of storylines already done in other LHH installments (ie. Chrissy/Mama Jones in NY and Erica/Mama Dee in ATL). Needless to say, while they were relatively low-key, if they opt out of the show, they won't be missed. Moniece is a snapped episode waiting to happen. I also noticed how Teairra didn't have Mo's back when Brandy, Princess, and Shanda, were ganging up on Mo and trying to attack her, yet Mo was throwing drinks on Princess in Teairra's defense a few episodes back. I really want Teairra to get herself together. I remember when she was recurring on L&HH:NY a few years ago and she was more motivated and focused on her career. She needs to get back in shape, ditch the tacky weaves/wigs and focus more on her career or some other passion. Why is Ray J giving motivational speeches now? Brandy is doing the most to secure her spot for the next season. She and her snaggletooth husband won't be missed. I knew Rich was only using Moniece to remain relevant. All that talk about "ring-shopping and turning over a new leaf" was BS! He'll be back on L&HH: NY in usual true form. I liked Miles less and less as the series progressed on and tonight he seemed especially bitchmade kicking Milan's ring. I just don't see Willie's career blowing up the way he would like. I feel that ship has long sailed. I still have a soft spot for him due to my memories of Making the Band and Day 26. Hopefully he and Shanda have a back-up plan. -

Regarding Manfeces, I don't feel the least bit sorry for Yandy. She knew what type of man she was dealing with. She reminds me of the saying "book smart without a lick of common sense". Why would she, an educated well-to-do successful woman with a career, tie herself to some drug dealing thug who's also a possible child molester. Then knowing full well that he was facing serious hard time in prison, have not one but two babies with him. Did she not think that there would be a very strong possibility of her raising those kids alone? I am disgusted that Yandy, as well as Mona tried to sell their relationship as this fairytale romance. The only ones that I truly feel sorry for is the children who now have to grow up with their father in prison. -

This season wasn't as good as the first season. Way too many new faces who were either annoying or added little to the show (i.e. Amber, Brandi, Max, Shanda, etc) I gotta give credit to Omarion. He is the only one on this Hollywood installment who took full advantage of his platform on the show and it paid off. "Post To Be" is one of the biggest hits of his career and was a decent comeback for him. He and Apryl were barely in this season and didn't really have much of a storyline but I'm sure they'll probably be back next year considering Apryl's pregnancy. I'm not sure what Apryl's plan is in the long haul. She claims to want to want to focus on her music career but she has a baby who just turned 1 and another one on the way, does nothing more than follow Omarion around on the road, and has yet to sing or play a single note throughout the show. These last couple of episodes, she wonders when her time in the spotlight will come and sadly I don't see that time ever coming. If she was truly serious about her career, she would have been took advantage of the platform she has on the show. I don't buy Rich's outrage at Moniece. If anything his outrage was more about wounded pride and ego than hurt feelings. I believe he was looking for a way out. I never believed he was seriously thinking about marriage with Moniece and was only looking to extend his 15 mins since L&HH:NY is sinking. That being said, while Moniece is justified in being angry with Nikki for blabbing to Rich, did she really think Rich wasn't going find out after she confessed her feelings to Fizz on national TV? Rich would've got word of it one way or the another and if didn't confront her on the show he likely would've done so on the reunion. Nikki just expedited the process. I expect to hear more drama and chaos regarding Princess and Ray J in the near future. I don't buy that Ray J has turned over a new leaf. It was smart of Princess to get the house in her name, though. Instead of spending her new money to get lipo, Teairra should have invested her money into a fitness trainer and diet but that would require hard work and dedication which Teairra seems to lack. I wouldn't be surprised if Teairra is an emotional eater as well. She's clearly unhappy with how Ray J and Princess did her, as well with career not popping off (The single that she put out last season flopped). She needs to put more time into the studio or focus on some other passion while she's still on the show. I forgot all about Hazel this episode. I'm surprised Hazel's supposed relationship with comedian Katt Williams wasn;'t mentioned this season. I can do without another season of Brandi/Max. I'm a little tired of Miles/Milan; their storyline just seemed too fake. I hope Nia gathers up some courage and self-esteem and kicks irrelevant Soulja Boy to the curb, seeing as he has no respect for her period. I could do without another season of Amber as well. I don't see Willie's career taking off and he and Shanda need to look into other options besides stripping and music. Nikki needs a new storyline as well besides her fake "relationship" with Fizz and playing runtelldat to the other castmates. -

I respect how Fizz handled things with Moniece. He was honest with her and didn't lead her on or take advantage of her emotions like some of the other "men" on the show would've done (i.e. Soulja Boy and Ray J). Too much has transpired for them to go back to the way things likely were before. However I'm disappointed he chose to blab about it to Nikki. What was the purpose of that? Him and Nikki aren't in a relationship, aren't serious, and it's clear as day that she's not into him. His handlings with Mo really isn't Nikki's business. Honestly Mo needs to focus more on building the relationship with her son and heal from whatever she went through during her childhood and with her mom. I'm not surprised that Mo and Broke Pesos aren't together anymore, seeing as it was pretty obvious that he was using her to remain relevant. He loves to target crazy, unstable and broken women (i.e. Erica Mena, Jionni Blaze, etc). This show has not been a good look for Teairra. She just seems lazy, uninspired, and difficult. I remember when she first hit the scene a decade ago (with her "Make Her Feel Good" single) and looking back it's hard to believe she was once labelmates with Rihanna. I can see why her career never really took off. I wish she would focus more energy into her music or another passion instead of pining for corny Ray J and trying to one up Princess/Hazel. I can see Teairra won't be a K Michelle/Tamar Braxton/ Omarion success story. Princess is another one who needs to heal from her issues before entering into another relationship. Whatever happiness and peace she's looking for, she's not going to find it in Ray J. Her and Ray J are toxic and dysfunctional. This f*ckboy had no problems shoving her into a pool, coaxing her to physically assault his former assistant, and letting her go to jail to take a charge for him. I wish Princess would've continued paying Ray J dust. I am disappointed that she is now supposedly engaged to him. Ray J is no prize and he will not change. Teairra dodged a bullet with that f*ckboy. I have a soft spot for Willie from his Making the Band/Day 26 days. I just don't see his career taking off the way he would like. It's ridiculous that he and Shanda feel that they're above working regular 9 to 5 jobs. He's approaching his mid 30s and has been trying to make this career happen for over a decade now. Plus it not like his former band Day 26 was this huge superstar group; their success was relatively minor and several of the members were vocal about not having much money (Diddy is/was notorious for ripping off his artists). -

Scrappy apparently has a very violent temper and isn't afraid to "put dem paws" on his women. Currently Erica Dixon has a restraining order against him, following the reunion. Considering the violent and intense way Scrappy was berating her at the reunion, I don't blame her. We already saw Scrappy push Erica in an earlier season infront of her own mother. The woman that Scrappy got violent with last season was Erica Pinkett. I knew Scrappy had assaulted her when the screen went black and we only saw the aftermath of the fight. I also knew that it was pretty serious considering how emotional and remorseful Momma Dee was .I'm surprised Mona covered his ass on that one considering she basically fired Yung Berg on L&HH: Hollywood after he assaulted Masika. Scrappy's ex-girlfriend Diamond also spoke on how mentally and physically abusive he was in an interview not too long ago. Scrappy doesn't respect women and I also believe a part of him is salty that Erica has moved particularly with a baller (Erica's boyfriend William Gay currently plays for the Steelers). Considering Scrappy's background with Momma Dee (a proud former pimp) being his mother and jailbird stepfather (who ran a prostitution ring), it's not surprising he wasn't taught to respect and value women. Scrappy is really showing his true colors this season. Bambi really needs to take heed and head for the hills. Scrappy is no prize and it's only a matter of time before she becomes his next target. Erica needs to distance herself from Scrappy and Momma Dee all together. That family is clearly toxic with a pimp/ho mentality. -

This actually felt more like a series finale to me. I'm glad that Mimi and Joseline made up and are over their "beef". I really wish Stevie well and hope he makes a comeback into the music business, because next to Kalenna and K Michelle, he is the most talented member of the cast. The Erica/Scrappy situation is just sad all around. It is sad that things have gotten this bad with them. Neither party is innocent. While Scrappy is trash for calling Erica a bitch and allowing the women in his life (Momma Dee, Bambi, Shay, etc) to disrespect her, Erica has taken her fair share of digs too calling him fat in a earlier episode. What does Erica being on the show and having a football player as a boyfriend have to do with Scrappy providing for Emoney financially? It was disturbing watching Scrap and his family gang up on Erica. It doesn't help that Scrap has a ton of enablers, with Momma Dee, being his biggest one. If I were Erica, I would distance myself all together from that family and keep all communications strictly about Emoney. I don't even see why Erica even agreed to be a bridemaid after all the disrespect she endured from Momma Dee over the years. Erica needs to stop being there for Scrappy and Momma Dee when they honestly don't deserve her support. If I were Bam, I would take note of the way Scrap dogs Erica and refuses to support their daughter financially. If she was a smart woman, she would head for the hills. It's all a warning of how he'll do her if she continues this relationship and/or were to ever have a child with him. Scrap will regret being so geeked about Bam because honestly, I see Bam bidding her time until she can land bigger fish than Scrappy. It will be another "Diamond" situation all over again. I'm so glad Kalenna, Karlie, and Joseline called Rashitty out. I really hope this is her and Milkdud's last season, both of them are insuffable. Margeaux needs to not return either. She is out of place with this cast. She can take Nikko with her too. -

Yandy aka Phaedra Parks 2.0 is such a disappointment. Why did she chose to saddle herself with this jailbird and have not one but two kids with him all while knowing he is facing hard time in prison.I won't even get into those child molestation charges he faced a couple years back. Manfeecees is no prize. In addition, Manfeecees also has another son that's only a few months older than his son with Yandy. I really hate how Mona is spinning their storyline into some type of fairytale.
