  1. I watched both nights but I did enjoy her take on the debates and what each candidate accomplished (in her opinion).    And I got a kick out of her pulling cards out of the hat, then wearing the hat---all we needed was a little trivia, and her mixing a cocktail in the end and it would have felt like old Fridays before the deluge.

  2.  I noticed she had some bags under her eyes but to me some of it was that whoever did her makeup didn't slather on the under-eye makeup they do now for HD tv--sometimes it looks like they put it on with a trowel and then I see her on Seth Meyers or somewhere that she wears her own clothes and looks natural and I realize how much NBC does that I suspect she would not do on her own.

Rachel has moderated debates before and I thought she was extremely well prepared--I think the challenge for this one is the 2-nights and 20 people to try to get to.   I feel like Lester, Savannah, Jose, and Rachel will do a great job--I am boycotting Chuck Todd so I'm not sure what I'm going to do when he's on camera.

I looked it up.  Olympia Dukakis is 5'3, Jen Richards is 5'8.

Yes,  that sounds about right---and she wore high heels almost the whole episode--which probably were 3-4 inches.     She was the same height in heels as the cop and I kept thinking a young Olympia would probably be  shorter.    She had some distinctive features that made it believable to me that she could be Anna but when she was with him, I kept noticing they were the same height.

On the other side, being smaller probably made it easier for Olympia's Anna to pass in days before people knew much about transitioning.

  4. I binge watched this yesterday and enjoyed it.    I liked the Jake and Marlo storyline and if they ever do more I'd enjoy seeing what happens to them.

I especially got a kick out of how good Laura Linney looks---she was the thread that kept the story together since there were a lot of casting changes.

Like others have posted I liked the flash back to how Anna Madrigal came to SF and bought Barbary Lane---the actress who played here was really good but she is tall and for some reason I always think of Olympia as kind of small--so that distracted me a little.

I ended up not really caring much for Shawna's story--except the part where they showed that she had saved/watched the video tapes of Mary Ann on TV.

I've read most of the books, and this made me think I might go back and re-watch the earlier seasons/versions of them.

Also if they ever do write/film any more, my bet is that Ben and Michael don't last.     It was nice to see them together for the ending but I just think they are too different to last.

  5. Here is an article about how Mina and Steve met with some wedding pictures---and now I want to know what he did to make Karen mad--Karen likes EVERYONE.

Also this article about Mina and Steve taking her sister's little girl for a while (their family is soooo complicated!)

  6. The mother made me crazy.   How she could stand in court and say that in front of her dead daughter's father is beyond me.

The three fathers who lost daughters broke my heart.

I wanted to know what happened to the child that "Hannibal" tried to kill for the insurance money.   I hope he was raised away from that poor excuse for a father.

  7. Y'all----on the HGTV site there is an option called HGTV Sneak Peak where they seem to post pilots--and there is one that's got a pretty unique concept----it's called House Full of Spouses and the designer is from a polygamous family (they show a picture of her big family with black tape over their eyes....:) ) and her husband is the contractor and seems to be the one who shows potential houses.

The clients are polygamous families--the one in this show is a husband and his 3 sister wives--two of whom are actually SISTERS--twins to boot and a lot of kids.    The premise seems to be like Love it or List it where they show other homes they could buy or they show ways they could re-do their existing house.

I think they said they have 10 kids still at home and 15 who have left home--and when they all come home to visit they have over 100 people at one time.

This was a really um...interesting show.

Heh, as Rachel was describing the Trump Beverly Hills home that was sold well above its assessed value to a aspiring president of Indonesia, she actually, consciously, quoted the theme song from "The Beverly Hillbillies", namely "swimmin' pools, movie stars" -- she put an emphasis on the quote that made me pay attention.  I had to go check to be sure, but yup!  Nice subtext!

I call them the Clampetts all the time so that made me laugh out loud.

  9. I am not sure I can take it if Brandy and Kim Richards are on.    I could not stand either of them when they were on before and I don't see how they contribute anything new to the show.    I haven't seen enough of Kathy Hilton to know if I'd like her--she might bring some of the grande dame personality to the show.

He only has Wendy (and Wags to a lesser degree) now.

I was thinking about this after the show---that really Wendy and Wags and maybe his mother are the only people he won't screw over if he thinks he needs to.     He's done it to his wife and children, long time friends....I feel like he's done minor things to Wags to punk on him and I'm not sure Wags has ever put him in the position to need to demonstrate he would step up for him--so I'm just guessing on how far their relationship would go.

I've been trying to remember if they've ever done any kind of back-story on Wendy--what makes her so astute in reading people and what brought her to her relationship with Chuck.  She seems to have a lot going on and to be going through some self-discovery --I'd be interested in some kind of info about her.    To me, I've always found her personal life and her professional life and her third, somewhat secret life interesting and I wonder how she got this way.
