Did you see the movie Copote?  It’s a very intense and detailed portrayal of the man that featured many of his relationships.  Hoffman won an Oscar for his portrayal.

The movie "Infamous" is amazing. We see Harper and Truman in Kansas.

  2. If typical TV does its thing, they will ruin a series. Case in point: The Wheel of Time. I don't get why some of the show runners hate the source material and the people who loved the books first get screwed over. Some are only here because of hoping things would resemble the source material. Rafe Judkins (sp?) basically gave the finger to the book fans.

    I missed this show!

Shocked they killed Cricket. Sad too. I thought she would have been fun with Trent. Please do not turn Trent into Benson. Misery porn is the worst.

I see Angie is still riding the Hot Mess Express. That said, I do like the character and I like her and Trent, though I don’t need them together romantically. I would be good with platonic vibes.

Putting a tracker on the wife’s car is in very poor taste. Especially given the history there. I do hope he and his wife work it out cause I hate him and Angie and do not want to watch him be single.

So Faith and Hot Doc did not work out? Pity. Wished we hadn’t missed the meet cute on this one.

I hope Mark Paul is returning. He was an unexpected highlight for me in the first season.

I'd like a Mark Paul appearance this season.

Bummed about Faith and Hot Doc not dating.

I wonder if we will get Sara in the future. Angie needs to be single and work on herself.

  4. Will and Angie are a toxic pairing and Will deserves better. I can't see them as endgame.

Payback, thy name is Gina Ormewood. Reap what you sow, dude.

I thought Ulster died at the end of last season when he drank a poisoned drink, or am I due for a rewatch of that ep? I'm liking the recurring side characters like Clark Gregg, Greg Germann, and Mark-Paul Gosselaar.

    RIP Cricket!

Toby Jones has had some bad luck portraying famous people.  In 2005/6 his excellent turn as Capote in Infamous was overwhelmed by Phillip Seymor Hoffman's Oscar winning performance as Capote in Capote.  (Both of these movies focus on Capote's research and writing of In Cold Blood.)  Then, in 2012, he was Alfred Hitchcock in The Girl (about the making of The Birds)  In the same year Anthony Hopkins was Hitchcock in Hitchcock (about the making of Psycho).  Jones had to be thinking "What are the odds of it happening twice?"

"The GIrl" was also great. He really did torture poor Tippi.

I agree. If you're interested there's a book called The Swans of Fifth Avenue by Melanie Benjamin. It's pretty interesting.

I got it via Audible. Great book.

  6. I've never gotten the idea that Amanda is a lesbian

    Spoiler

    (she's not in the books)

. She's too hardened from her career.

    Spoiler

In the books evil Angie kills Will's father and leaves him the red nail polish.

  7. Will is very smart and can read. They just have different ways of working with it. I love Youtuber Emily D Baker who is dyslexic and has ADHD.

As a book reader, please don't make Angie nice. She is satanic in the books, but the show is not really following them. It's more of an 'inspired by.'

Slaughter is not a nice person. I went to an event where she spoke. She wore sweatpants (this was a nice event and everyone wore suits or dresses) and insulted the crowd. This was a library fundraiser. I stopped reading her stuff after this.

  8. I gave in and am watching. The actor who plays Will is driving me nuts. No one in Atlanta talks like that. You will rarely find a Georgia or Atlanta native here. Even they don't sound like an extra from "Gone With the Wind." Despite my username I did not grow up here and my husband is from the midwest. He's on Foghorn Leghorn levels.

People actually wrote about this in the nineteenth century (in England, anyway) as a social problem--that all kinds of dirt and trash would get caught in women's skirts and brought into the house.

I think there was an attachable under ruffle that could be easily removed and cleaned. They also wore a few layers of slips/chamise to avoid sweating on their clothes.

The fact that nobody seems to remember these characters' names (including myself) speaks to how little investment Fellowes has put into the servants.

Bertha gave tickets to Mrs. Bruce, the housekeeper (not the lady's maid). But I couldn't have told you the chef's name to save my life without seeing it here first.

But I don't suppose Fellowes has much use for the servants since they cannot make a grand entrance down the staircase in a fabulous new gown while the music swells all around them. And that seems to be the primary purpose of the show.

I got confused with him... should we call him Baudin or Borden? LOL

I hope Bertha drops McAllister as a friend.  I thought he was trying to support them both, but he just told her to come quietly to the Academy! What a weasel.

I loved the full house the Met had at the end, and I loved that Oscar referred to the people at the Academy as ghouls and skeletons.  Mrs. Fish has no shame, and I love it!

I really hated what they did to Mr. Fortune.  He didn't try to stop any inappropriateness with Peggy, and she was the one to end it for good.  I hope she finds another journalism job.

Not surprised at the predictable ending.  It was interesting to see Agnes' take on Anderson, why would she want to keep such a negative woman around?

I'm glad Dashiell is gone.  He and his daughter were so overbearing.  They had to whip out "he's still in love with his wife", and not "he's too controlling".

He would totally be Mrs Danvers to Harriet's Rebecca. LOL

I hope that George keeps his promise to Gladys to stand up for her if she finds someone she loves.  Because I think we all know how Bertha got the Duke to show up at the Met.

I really hope there's a season 3.  I want to see purse string holding Ada.  She is a deeply sweet, kind, woman; but she is no pushover.

I see her as a steel magnolia.

  12. We need season three. Still processing this episode.

Larrian!!! When the appropriate amount of time has passed, please let them court and marry. I also want comedic family dinners with the Russells and Agnes.

If Gladys must be a dollar princess, let her and the duke fall in love. She deserves better than Consuelo Vanderbilt. George is Team Gladys and so will be Larry. If he marries Marian that will get them connected to 'old' NYC.

Turnerton just can't let things go even though Bertha was never mean to her. Enjoy your money and your indulgent husband.

Glad Peggy peaced-out on the newspaper. Perhaps she'll teach writing at the school.

So what is Oscar to do now? If there's a season three, he can go on a mission to find Maud.
