Once upon a time, everything came to a halt in the month of August - cities shut down, the Queen went to Balmoral, the late night show hosts took most of the month off, and there was no 'news'. That's clearly changing, but the breaks for the late night hosts (and others) are still in their contracts. News is 24/7 now, even when it isn't.

Looks like the next new episode will be the season 8 kickoff on 9/6, the Tuesday after Labor Day. How the hell is it almost September? /grumpily harrumphs

I noticed on rewatch that it looked like all the scenes with homeowners in the beginning showed Toby (not Bran) - which I thought was a nice way to get the killed-in-the-first-minutes Sklar brother some screen time, but now I'm wondering if that's how they worked around Bran being Simon and not being able to be in the sun? I am probably thinking way to hard about this though...

Well I suspected it was coming, and Stephen just announced it. Jon's leaving the show. But Louis and the band are sticking around! Not a surprise, as Jon's star is rising like a rocket, and it's well deserved. And I think Stephen and the band are genuinely happy for him. I just hope he's a frequent guest! ETA: I have to say, I'm amazed that this didn't get out after taping -- they kept this under wraps!

Three episodes in and I think this has finally gotten me. I find the lead to be really good for this character, he definitely has an otherworldly presence to him, and then to have Jenna Coleman's natural, hmm, I'll go with natural perkiness? It's a really interesting contrast, and one I'm enjoying. I will say, as much as I like Patton Oswalt, not sure he's working for me as the 'not-a-raven'. I watched Happy!, and I'm getting flashbacks to that show. Also interested to see where we go with John Burgess.
