All Episodes Talk: Celebrating Diversity

I don't think we know for a fact - someone noticed that the document they signed wasn't a state marriage certificate. Maybe they filled out the legal paperwork off camera, who knows? Or maybe they decided to keep their marriage "nonlegal" in order to protect their benefits. It's just hard to swallow after hearing Cristina's dad go on and on about how this wedding would be no different than for a daughter without DS, how everything would be typical, etc. I got caught up in his emotional soliloquies. If the marriage wasn't legal, I kinda feel lied to... Ah, reality TV...you're a harsh mistress. -

That's kind of upsetting if that's the case...they're not able to support themselves any better married than they were single. I can't remember if Angel works at all...but if he does, maybe his wages will count as income for Cristina too, if they are legally married?? This CAN'T be the last episode ever! :( I have to know how Angel and Cristina do as a married couple. Beautiful as it was, the wedding is small potatoes compared to the adjustments they'll have to make to live and work together. I am a little concerned about Cristina being a hard-nose and taking advantage of Angel's easygoing nature. I want reassurance that parents and grandparents and counselors are helping them get along to keep that from happening. -

Megan’s “social intelligence” is pretty good and she has charisma. She just needs to work on her daily living skills. I don’t think the moms needed to worry about the takeout call, though - those guys probably get calls from all kinds of people - drunk folks, old people who are half-deaf, people with stutters etc. Anyone who deals with the general public knows you gotta be patient. -

Yeah, I've heard that, too - just 8 episodes this season, I think. Last season was 10 episodes. I wonder why they showed 2 episodes at a time instead of drawing it out more. -

I think Steven might get his license, if he really wants it - after lots and lots and lots of training and practice. Not sure about John...his vision seems really poor. But Steven is more aware of his limitations, while John has bought into the "I'm gonna do it and nobody will stop me" thing that's common among the lower-functioning folks like Sean and Megan. As Kris said, there's a version of success for a lot of things - but I don't know what John's version of success would be here other than learning to call Uber. -

I loved him! He'd be a great match for Rachel, and his functioning seems to be more or less on her level. I wonder if he came up with that "Rachel" drink himself. If so - way to get in with the parents, Frank. lol -

Cristina's stone-walling reminds me of Sean saying "end of discussion" when he wants something and will brook no opposition. It's a red flag but I'm hoping she can learn to be more flexible. I think ongoing marriage counseling would be good for them, help her stop being so uptight. I really do wish the best for all of them, even Sean, whom I like the least. Everything they try to do - whether it's help run a business or move out or get married - is like 20x more complicated than it would be for a neurotypical person. Everything is a struggle. I hope they all find some success and independence in life.- 1.2k replies

I don't know how the parents would feel about an opposite-sex roommate. Rachel and Steven don't seem romantically interested in each other, but I could see Rachel falling for Steve over time and being hurt if he doesn't return her interest. That could make a roomie situation awkward. It might be even more concerning if they did get romantically involved - suddenly they're co-habitating. There are landmines there that the parents would probably prefer to sidestep. I do think they are the two most high-functioning and independent of the group - along with Elena - and I'm not sure why they don't seem to be closer friends. Maybe different personalities/interests. -

I would give Megan + Rachel slightly better odds than Sean + Steven, which had a -10% chance of working from the beginning. Sean is too immature and inconsiderate to live with anyone but mom and dad. I know they just threw S&S together for the show, but it was obviously unworkable. Megan is a bit more agreeable, but I think the burden of running the household will fall on Rachel, and that will spell the end of the roomie thing. -
Dr. Younan Nowzaradan: Saviour or Surgeon?
curlytoes79 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My 600-lb Life
I don't know why Dr. Now doesn't require a psychological evaluation for all his patients. He emphasizes that the surgery won't solve the emotional/psychological issues that are leading his patients to overeat, and so it would seem counseling would be a necessary part of the process. I've never even seen him recommend it upfront...it sometimes becomes part of the conversation later, but only after the patient has been struggling. I've even wondered if he withholds this kind of advice until later so that TLC can get some good footage of the patient trying (and failing) to deal with stuff on their own. I certainly hope that's not the case, but... -
I have to disagree about Mo trying to be honest. Jason asked him point-blank if he loved Danielle (a question the host should have asked, btw) and he said yes. I'm 99.67% sure that's a bald-faced lie. The rest of his 60/40 and "it's my culture" nonsense was I think because he knew people weren't going to buy that he and Dani are madly in love. He was trying to explain the lack of passion (and his own obvious unhappiness) in a way that was believable but didn't make the union look like a total sham.

Social Media & Spoilery Speculation

https://twitter.com/helleborine just pointed out that the pic above was taken at some kind of garden supplies store (Miller Landscape and Gardens). Interesting way to save money, but...wasn't there a nice park in the area or something? -

Those wedding pics at https://twitter.com/helleborine are pretty awful. Honestly, Dani would look a lot better if she would just stand up straight and smile normally. Hunched over with that weird pinched smile makes her look like an 80 year old in a red wig. -
Did anyone catch the bonus clips? http://www.tlc.com/tv-shows/90-day-fiance/videos/i-give-it-three-months.htm Angie (Danielle's friend who helped her make instant potatoes) apparently divorced her Egyptian husband, left Islam, and isn't too optimistic about the Dani/Mo union either.
