  1. I thought this was a really interesting article about why speculating about the Duggar kids (even the adult kids) sexuality is just going to make it worse for them: http://www.patheos.com/blogs/lovejoyfeminism/2016/01/why-public-speculation-about-the-duggar-childrens-sexuality-should-be-off-limits.html

Thought this was the best place to put it, and while it focuses specifically on sexuality, it probably applies to even general discussions of the kiddos escaping...I wouldn't be surprised if Jim Bob trolls the web and uses commentary like "Jinger wants to live in a city" as a reason to crack down on her.

Very good article - thanks for posting.

Agree that the minors in this family have no choice about having been made public for their parents' income. Jill and Jessa, however, DO have a choice and their CHOICE is to follow in parental footsteps, actively seeking publicity for profit. JUST LIKE THE KARDASHIANS.

These two have personally experienced the downside of their parents' exploitation of their children for attention and financial gain and, despite their whining about the emotional dues they have paid for being sold for public consumption, they like to blame the 'liberal media's agenda' RATHER than hold their parents accountable. Additionally, they have continued to proactively seek opportunities to foist the same minefield upon their own children.

You really think those girls know they have a choice? And Jessa is pretty much fucked, her teen groom works for her father scrubbing toilets. Neither of these girls have had any time to discover what they want. They went from the control of one man to another in a tightly controlled environment.

You may think because Jill ran off to SA and Jessa isn't dorming with Anna and her sisters that they have freedom. And, technically, they do. But it's useless because they don't know. They weren't raised to see the choices, just what daddy chose for them. It's going to take a while for them to open their eyes, right now everything is moving so fast they don't have time to reflect. And that's just how Gothard wants it.

The chains on them are invisible, but still there.

  2. Agree. Too bad Duggar creativity is not on par with Duggar fertility. I'd have NO trouble with coming up with 19 entirely-different baby names. No repeats or similarities in the group.

W-well coming up with J names is hard, y'all. It would mean you have to care about the spawn for something ither than a head count.

  3. I was struck by how much Jessa clearly disliked being pregnant. Her obsession with her weight was troubling, though. We seem to be seeing more and more evidence of unhealthy obsessions with thinness among the older girls. I know our society is no help in that regard, but we can't forget that thinness is also an obsession of Gothard's . I'll never forget how one of his victims described how, while she was suffering from anorexia, Bill took her aside and whispered in her ear that he was proud of her "discipline of figure." Horrifying.

Yeah, Jill and Joy Anna seem to be the only two older girls who don't seem to care too much about weight. I hope no one pushes poor Joy into weightloss, and I also wonder why Jill never seemed to care?

I get why Jessa was so uncomfortable though. All she has going for her is her beauty, and weight from pregnancy is not beautiful in gothard land. And since women are blamed whenever their husbands leave, and the Josh scandal happened when she was pregnant, I can't imagine what she was thinking.

She's easily one of the most miserable Duggars imo.

I hope this link works! On Seewaldfamilyblog, JimBob is shown holding Spurgeon, sporting the beginnings of a beard!

Is that JimBob? He almost looks normal without helmet head and and aquaspray!

I'm uncomfortable with the way he's holding the baby.

I'm also uncomfortable with looking at his face for prolonged periods of time. (Or any period of time)

  5. Given that my son just introduced me to "Supernatural" around Thanksgiving, and I'm now closing in on the end of the 6th season, these comments really reflect where my head has been over the past few weeks! I wonder what they will do if they discover ghosts or demons?

They'll purpose to pray to God about it, and then send them to Jesus jail like the demons who took over Josh.

  6. So, if Josh is addicted to porn, maybe if Anna watched it with him it could be redirected into "together time". She could also maybe wear little school girl outfits and help redirect some of his other predilections (should I say "past predilections"?) into more constructive and relationship building activities for their marriage.

Heck, who knows? Maybe he doesn't need a church-based counseling solution and just a wife willing to get freaky with him?

But if Anna watches porn with Josh, wouldn't she become defrauded by the man bits? Or is it okay because Josh can righteously fulfill her?

  7. Why the one-up-manship? Because it's all they have. It's the only sphere of accomplishment open to females. The only one the men will ever be impressed with - or at least impressed with out loud. And PS - if fundie men could have babies, the females wouldn't even be able to complete in childbirth.

Disagree here. Fundie men will never go out of their way to be in pain. Childbirth is messy and painful, therefore it is woman's work.

  8. Ben is probably wishing he could just be a carefree 20 year old living a single life with friends and independence instead of being saddled with Duggarland and being under JB's thumb all of the time. Loves his son but regrets everything else that comes with it.

I think both of them wish for this. I think if they weren't on the teevee, they'd be finding a way to get a divorce on the down-low.

I feel for poor spergy, he's going to grow up in a house where both of his parents are, at the very least, *very* uncomfortable with each other.

  9. Re: the snarkiness over Derrick's apperance - Yeah, Derrick can't help his appearance. And I have sympathy for whatever medical procedures he's going through to fix his bite. (Not sure what's going on there since I haven't been following the story too closely, but from what y'all are saying, he got his jaw broken to realign it? Ouch!) But my general rule is that when you willingly pimp yourself out on television, your looks become fair game for criticism. That's part and parcel of the entertainment industry. And that goes double for when you're on a reality show that doesn't involve any sort of talent whatsoever. TBH I think the snarky comments about the Duggar children's appearances are in a sense ~worse because who can say how much of a choice those kids actually had/have in appearing on the show? Especially if they're still underage. That's not to say that I'm completely innocent when it comes to the latter, although it's something that I try to keep in mind.

Yeah, Derrick is a grown man who chose to be on the shitshow, I simply see what others are saying about him calling a horse a horse. I do feel bad for him though, he was a decent enough guy back in nepal, it's like marrying a Duggar made him physically less attractive.

    Jill, feed your man!

  10. Given their ideas on "headship" and patriarchy, I wonder if the will/trust leaves anything to Michelle or any of the girls outright. Wouldn't one of the sons (maybe not Josh these days) automatically become the new headship over all of the widowed/unmarried women, and therefore should control all of the money? Because if the womenfolk had any money of their own, just imagine all of the horrifying things they could do - buy defrauding clothes, be independent, get a clue, etc. Or, you know, spend it all on ChikFil-A and Starbucks.

If you think Michelle isn't getting cold hard cash in her hands when boob gives his last "hey hey hey" i have a bridge to sell you.

The rest of the girls will probably have to fight for nickels unless they have a headship, though.

  11. What I didn't understand while watching is what does Jessa do all day that she and Jinger no longer have time to spend together? Is selfie taking THAT time consuming?

You guys have it wrong, Jing is the busy one. She has to cook and clean after like what, 15 other people? Michelle can't be letting her work mules off the hook like that.

  12. I just wonder why we haven't seen this before. There has been virtually NO art of any sort (other than Jesus pictures) in the Duggar abode. It's interesting that she's encouraged to do this now, rather than when she was 12.

Well you see, she was too busy raising her mothers kids when she was 12. Now that they're older, she can finally have some me time.

She's gonna be one happy empty-nester I'll tell you that.

  13. I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but I was really surprised at how aggressive Jana was when trying to keep Jessa from wrestling that ultrasound photo away from her. To the point where another Duggar daughter called her name as if to say knock it off. Jana kind of giggled it off, but I don't think anybody else laughed. It was more personality than I think I've seen her express in years. Which is kind of troubling.

    Troubling?

  14. Well if the "there was somebody" thing was true, she likes guys. I don't think Jana would share her lesbian forbidden love with her sisters.

She could swing both ways, but that's not the issue.

I like Jana, don't get me wrong. She and Blessa are my favorites (i know, i know) but i don't think a guy could help her right now. She has no goals, no ambitions.. even the nicest guy in the planet would get sick of her, if the personality we see on TV is the same as her real one.

What would they talk about? Would she be okay watching a moive? She'd probably be filled with guilt over "abandoning" her childr- er, siblings.

I just want to see her happy. And i don't know if having a guy free her from duggarland will make her happy. Obviously staying there wouldn't help, but i really don't know here. It seems wrong to project what we want on the girl, its what her parents do.

If i had my way, I'd give Jana some car keys and a starter apartment thats close enough to the compound, but still lets her be independent. I'd say, "Jana, this is all yours, do whatever you want, so long as its legal. You can even give me this back and go to the compound, it will still all be here for you."

But, that won't ever happen, because I'm not a millionaire.

  15. Michelle: "The thief was a woman? Were her knees exposed? Was the devil building a fortress around her heart? She must not have found Jesus after defrauding men while mowing the lawn."

"Did her headship forgive her? Can she maybe raise my kids?"

  16. I think the fat-shaming had less to do with Jana's actual weight than with the fact that Michelle seems to really dislike her. I suspect that Michelle was looking for something to torture Jana with and decided that picking on her for being "fat" would be as much fun as anything.

I think its that, and the fact that the older four, minus Jill, seem to have self esteem and image issues. I mean, we won't be seeing Jessa until she's "thin enough" and Jing looks like she's battling and ED herself. Jana has also seemed to watch what she'd eat, and often opted for salads and such.

  17. Maybe that's the connection. He can't make a simple recitative statement like "I'll have the bacon and eggs", without putting on a show of bad verbal tapdancing designed to, wait, impress the audience, which is where the defrauding comes in.

    *looks at put-put hump-hump video*

... well, if this is what Jim Bob thinks is funny, he does have a defrauding sense of humor. My desire to sue him for emotional distress will never be righteously fulfilled.

  18. I don't know if this is true of Jana, but when I was around my nieces & nephews I most likely had them in my arms, because I just loved to be with them.

And then when I had my children, I very much appreciated the times when their aunts, uncles and cousins wanted to hold them.

She might be one of those people who like kids more than adults, girl always has a baby on her.
