If Sam wants to publish the book as non-fiction, wouldn't most publishers reject it because she does not have credentials as a historian?

Bigger issue: where is the documentary evidence to back up the narrative?

The credentials are important, but not the biggest obstacle at play.  This is Sass’s tree story revisited, on a grander scale.

I’m not sure she can prove that though, even by inference, since it appears Isaac was deeply closeted during his life

But will it be a novel or history?  If non-fiction, how will Sam refer to her “evidence” ?

  3. Nancy can keep a secret, and I don’t think Nigel is above blackmail.  Next week will be interesting.

I would add more, but I don’t want to annoy Jay and spend more time on my phone…..

We all need someone to provide Jay-like support in our lives.

I thought this ep was sweet, but my UO: thought the Johnny/Tara bit was overdone.  They’ve become their own SNL caricatures.

I agree: more Neil.  Trap him in the elevator with Abby!!

When I see T/J, they remind me of Will and Grace, on steroids.  They are such an absorbed duo, I can’t imagine their significant others not feeling like 3rd wheels.

But this episode felt like it was phoned in.  I did like the VHS tapes and Gurg’s dinner for Dan.

  5. What a stupid man. They weren’t married.  There were no kids.  He could have walked away.  But he took all the frustrations out on two women who had been kind to him.  At least he was dumb enough to provide the evidence that led to his conviction.

  6. Is there an I want to marry Jay! thread?  It seems there are quite a few of us on this thread.

What does Nigel have in store for Hetty?  That is a rivalry I didn’t foresee.  But Trevor could be a good double agent for  Hetty, unless the secret gets out soon.

But would the scene have to be reshot, or could the line be fixed by audio?

I blame The Bachelor for this.  When I watched it years ago, people talking about “X and I’s relationship” or “between X and I” were onscreen frequently.

I’ve aged out of The Bachelor’s demographic, but I hope that good grammar will be appreciated one day.  Rather like vinyl records are coming back after CDs were so popular.

  8. By any chance, is the actress playing Miss Scarlet going to have a baby?  Her coats and apron last night put the question in my head.

But as for the plot, I’m still not sure who sent the bombs: the executive or the boxer?  But I liked the booby-trap action and 3/1 wire tension.

Lovely episode. Only problem was that everyone was saying liaisoned instead of liaised. So many people involved, surely someone could have corrected the usage.

It was a nails-on-chalkboard moment for me when Pete told Isaac about Jenkins “telling Thor and I” about Christmas Eve.  Grammar counts!

You could argue that it's "psychological", that if the ghosts believe that property lines limit their mobility that they are unconsciously creating their own limitations, but that wouldn't explain Hetty being shoved out of the departing car because she didn't know that would happen.

I’m overthinking this show.  Otherwise, there were no property lines when Thor and Sass (possibly Isaac) died, and Hetty’s family probably had more land in the 19th century than the 20th.  I’ll buy your explanation.
But I have to say, my crush on Jay grows each week.  I think he has the hardest job in the house, and yet he takes everything in stride.

No there is a property in between.  They have mentioned this several times.

Maybe in Season 1 they mentioned them being next door neighbors but the writers either changed the canon and/or imagined a vacant property lot in between those two houses.  Since Bjorn's discovery they have constantly said there is a lot in between and we don't see a house on it as Thorfinn and Bjorn shout back and forth so probably a vacant lot so the Farnsby's could be next door "neighbors" but the properties don't have to be.

What would happen if the 2 properties had the same owners?  If the property lines move, will the range increase?

    Thoughts inspired by insomnia…..

  12. Nice time of year to learn Moses’s full name.  Think we’ll find out why he was in Madrid next week?

Is Inspector Wellington smart enough to see through the overplanning?  I was on the fence; I’ve now picked a side.  Just getting older doesn’t mean you’ve grown up.

  13. I’m overthinking this, but I was half-expecting Sam to carry the device outside to the car, where sitcommy hijinks would ensue and the car ghost would be the third.  By some random technological reason, her experience with the machine would free her from the car limits.  But Jay’s solution was much better.  Atari!  I remember when they were new…..

I don't think considering the time period, the Duke would have stayed overnight with Arabella. There were other women in that time period for that sort of thing.  I guess we will find out for sure.

Arabella lives with her mother, not at the restaurant; I doubt he spent the night.

But just when Phelps displayed the ghost of being a good guy, he buries.

That was twisty and fun, but I missed William.

I wonder if Nash and Arabella are supposed to be representative of more compatible matches for Eliza and William, respectively, at least on paper.

I like Nash for Eliza: he’s never told her to find something else to do, but encourages her work.  His ethics leave a bit to be desired, but he isn’t beyond redemption.

I also think he did it. I also think those who don't bring up valid points.

I don’t know if he did or not, but there is - in my opinion - reasonable doubt.  It seems as if it took years, and the lack of an arrest of anyone else, for the arrest to come.  But one detective’s opinion on shoe prints?  Were the original investigators so clueless that they never tried to match the prints to the actual shoes in 1982?  I don’t know he didn’t do it, but there are still questions.

The daughters only sketchy memory was that she may or may not have seen the "bad man." That sounds like something she have been told by her dad and adopted it into her memory.

The letter to the police from the "affair" guy. Well, no burglar sent that, so either the sexual predator guy or the husband was trying to throw the police a red herring.

I thought the daughter mentioned the bad man at the same time she drew the pictures.  Is that wrong?

As for the staging, it was done by someone who left an ax in a human head.  A lack of logic is not surprising.

But the letter was sent by someone who sounded like drawing attention to the husband was the whole point.
