  1. Team Beth.  Period.

And kudos once again to the casting director for finding a perfect actress to play college Beth.  How does this show do better with casting younger counterparts than any other show?  Do they just have a better face index? 😃

  2. I also had to come give Leslie Jones some love.  I think she was on the Match Game two years ago, and she was angry at the other celebrities for not taking the game seriously enough.  That girl COMPETES.  So I know how much it means to HER to try to help the contestants out, so that's why I was so happy to see her win - to see how happy it made her.

  3. Not sure what I expected, but it wasn't that.  I'm going to have to chew on that for a bit.

After the confrontation in the parking garage, I started to think that Stan might be the one to die.  Might kill himself because of regret.  Then ... nothing.

  4. I would think that Pop decided not to play seasons 1-15 consecutively because some people weren't aware that the show was on.  Maybe they went S1-6 because they were able to show the whole tenure of Clooney/Margulies and allow discussion about the show being back on the air to build; after that, they could go S1-15 all at once.

  5. I was frustrated by the editing, throughout the season as it turns out.  I feel like we never got to know London/Logan as well as we got to know Brooke/Scott and Tara/Joey.  By the time we were down to the Final Five, I was going to be annoyed if L/L won, not because of them as a team, but because they didn't get any screen time and the editors didn't give us a chance to know who they were.  So when they made the Final Three, I knew they already weren't going to win.  That took suspense out of the episode, even if they did finish third.  People have talked about teams getting a "winner's edit".  L/L definitely got a "non-winner's edit".

  6. I must be in the serious minority here.  I found the episode boring and watched the last third on double speed with closed captioning.  As far as I'm concerned, you could have told me Gabriel said he was leaving, and I wouldn't be out of the loop for anything else.  The second half of this season better be AWESOME because I think we've only had 1 good episode out of 6 (last week's episode).

  7. People said that Mrs. Kirkman was too bold in asking Moss about one of his candidates.  Did nobody see the next shot where Kirkman winks at her?  He clearly planned ahead of time to have HER ask the question instead of HIM doing it.  That's not her over-stepping, that's prior planning.

  8. I feel like we've had people before who feel like they'll do well because of their looks, but it seemed to me like Jenn went a little past that and that she felt "entitled" to do well because of her looks.  She is a very pretty lady, but with that attitude, I won't miss her being on the show.

  9. I was shocked to realize that Scarlett Johansson joined the Five-Timers Club.  I knew she had hosted multiple times, but didn't realize it had been that often.  In addition, I couldn't believe that a fellow member of the club (Alec Baldwin) was in attendance and wasn't out there to acknowledge her addition.  I found that disappointing.  I realize he played Trump in the cold open, but I would think that he could have changed during the opening credits and beginning of the monologue.

As much as I liked the finale... well, for as much as I'd expect out of this show anyway... I was pretty annoyed that they didn't have Topanga take the job. What do she and Cory even have going on in their lives in NYC? We never see them with friends or advancing in any way. London would have been the right step. If the show gets picked back up, I'm sure they could have come up with some plot to move them back. They could have even paid to keep their NYC apartment with Topanga's supposedly ridiculous salary increase. It's not like the BMW/GMW universe has ever strived for believability anyway.

Remember, they only thought this was a SEASON finale when they filmed it, not a SERIES finale.  It was filmed over the summer.  Putting the show in England for season 4 would have been a total reboot since you'd only keep the 4 Matthews from the current cast.  You'd be replacing everybody else.

Had this been planned as a SERIES finale, I think London would have been the right move.  Even that would be paying homage to the BMW ending with Cory and Topanga moving to a new city.

I still get the feeling the final episode will end on some kind of cliffhanger

On a children's show?  I don't know.  It's one thing to do it on an adult show.  But that just seems so ... grim ... as a possibility of a children's show.  To leave them on the ambiguity?  That's just mean.

Auggie ripped my heart out.  That kid must have thought about something gut wrenching because that was rough.  The girls were also pretty on point.

Agreed.  I had to rewind as soon as I saw Auggie because I thought I had blinked and missed the end of the world from occurring.

  12. It's been debated on this board who the target audience is of GMW compared to BMW.  After watching this episode, I certainly understand who Disney considered to be the target audience.  As a 35 year old, I felt ANCIENT watching this.  I couldn't make it through more than 5-10 minutes.  I'm glad that they did this for the younger people in the audience, but this episode definitely wasn't for me.  I'm not angry or bitter about that, just saying it answered a question I had.

Maya could have been Shawn's long lost daughter he never knew he had

To call this "character assassination" is way too strong of a term for how I feel, but I really would have disliked this plot line.  Sure, Shawn dated lots of girls on BMW, but I feel like having him find out he was a dad could have shown him as having been irresponsible.  Seems a bit deep for the way this show has gone.

I think it would have been better to leave the voting window open for all teams until the end of the show.

I disagree.  That means that different teams would have very different windows for voting times.  The way they did it, every team had about the same amount of time to collect votes.  I understand that you're suggesting a bigger window overall, but I think the way they did it is the most balanced and fair for all of the contestants.

  15. You know how people say "Show, don't tell?" with television?  In this case, since showing took an hour, just tell me in 5 minutes next time.  This really felt like filler.

I do feel that the results might've been rigged, to make sure America won over Trump.

Thank you for making this observation.  I was absolutely shocked that Amber didn't win.  She just killed it on both performances.  But now that you point this out, I can totally believe this was the reason she didn't win.

  17. First season I've watched the show, so I'm glad to see I'm not the only person disgusted by the number of montages.  What I find so unfair is that they typically show 3 battles per HOUR, then montage 3 battles in a MINUTE.  "You are worth 1/60th the time of the other people."  Yikes.  And they actually end up doing that to 25% of the contestants making it through?  If you need to montage that many people, maybe you just shouldn't have teams that big in the first place!  If you only want to show 6 hours in that round x 3 battles per round, have each mentor pick 9-10 people and adjust the pacing accordingly

I guess it all comes down to if you, as a viewer, can bear anti-heroes (or their close cousins, villain protagonists). If they're rarely to your taste?  A show with one at it's core is not for you.

That's an excellent point.  And as you say, this may not be the show for me.

  19. I love Kristen Bell.  LOVE her.  Veronica Mars was a fantastic character and a fantastic show.  I liked her in Heroes.  I really enjoyed her character on House of Lies, but stopped watching it because her and Don Cheadle's characters were the only ones I liked, the rest of the characters seemed like a waste of time.

So as soon as I heard that she was going to star in this show, I knew I would watch it.  But gosh - her character is so unlikable.  She's super cute playing the character, but the writing of her character just makes her intolerable.  I also think that this is a very unique series as opposed to doing something that's been done dozens of times before.  I also worry as other people have that this might be better suited to a movie/miniseries as opposed to something that will play out over dozens of episodes.

I'm not going to make any final decision after two episodes.  I'll give it a minimum of two more episodes.  As opposed to an original order of 13 episodes that might become 22, it sounds like Kristen Bell and Ted Danson only want to do the show if it's 13 episodes per season, so there won't be any extension.  Knowing that, I might actually give the show a little bit longer knowing that the creators will be farther in their arc more quickly.
