eh Other people have had issues with editing and they have gone nowhere. There is plenty of footage of Dan touching women in inappropriate ways to back their edit. We saw some of it last night. I would put solid money on the fact that there is plenty more. There were plenty of aired shots of Kellee telling Dan to stop and to not touch her and Dan ignoring her or trying to defend his touching her. There are probably plenty of confessionals from the women discussing Dan's groppy nature.  Dan would lose in a heartbeat and he knows it.

I don't care what generation you are in, a grown ass man knows better then to stroke another persons leg, regardless of gender, while lying on the grown and that person is sitting there having a conversation. The clips that were shown demonstrated Dan's inappropriate contact with many women and Kellee's telling him to stop.

It has to be said, over and over again:

What 48-year-old married man repeatedly paws at and strokes the hips, waists, chests, butts, faces, legs, toes of 20-something women whom he has only known a few weeks (or even days)?   And blatantly restricts that behavior to the most conventionally attractive ones?

I'm starting to think he believes he IS Harvey Weinstein, pre-metoo.

I wonder if Elizabeth and Missy had any idea of the backlash they would receive!

Elizabeth's twitter post announcing last night's episode was a picture of the merge flag and something like "a beautiful name for our new merged tribe."  So yeah, I think she was pretty clueless.

They sign some pretty long and detailed contracts including giving CBS the right to portray them any way the producers want, with no recourse.

Right.  I wonder, though, if he could bring a suit if his entire career/ability to earn money tanked due to this.  I mean, he might not win, but he could sue.

  4. I wonder if CBS is worried that Dan might sue them.  It seems likely that he will be facing real-world and professional consequences.

Fucking good. Get rid of all these pieces of shit at once imo!

We need a different Ponderosa location, though, to isolate the despicable people.  I don't care to watch them at Ponderosa (often my favorite part of the show), and I don't want to know that our heroes have to deal with them there.

OTOH, it would be awfully satisfying to watch Jamal patronizingly mansplain to them how to be appropriate, respectful, not-malevolent adults while they are captive there.  Let it be so!

Dan is Gen X.  How is Gen X a touchy feely generation.  LOL.

Yes.  Hugging everyone everywhere was not how we were raised as Gen-xers.  Like today, HS kids hug their friends EVERY DAY, repeatedly.  Not saying that's bad, but we did not do that in the 70s/80s.  We hugged our friends at graduation, after a winning game, etc.

When I entered the workforce, it was strictly handshake only in meetings, etc.  Then over the next 20 years, somehow it morphed into business colleagues kissing each other on the cheek and hugging when greeting.  And now with Sexual Harassment training, most of that thankfully has stopped.

It is not a Gen-X thing, it's a Dan thing.  Also, I don't think his defense the he comes from the industry that birthed #metoo landed the way he wanted it to.

I'd also rather look at his beautiful open face than Aaron's toothpick sneer any day.

On behalf of Wendell, I'm pissed about his appropriation of the toothpick.

  8. I am starting to believe that the Producers spent so much time on the interaction between Jack and Jamal over the do-rag comment as a kind of counterpoint to the disaster we saw last night.

In the J/J interaction, there was offense given/taken, but also mutual respect and affection exhibited, and a kind of "pause" button on the gameplay while the two dealt with this real world issue.  Not only did Jack offer a sincere apology but he also allowed that he had things to learn, and was open to doing so.

Compare that to Dan's response -- he was in complete denial, acted like a cornered animal, played the victim and projected blame on everyone else last night.

You have absolutely textbooks examples of how to and how not to deal with issues like these.

It seems like production is trying to delay the discussion of Feely Dan and his enablers debacle.  They have postponed the exit interviews with Kellee and Jamal until next week

Hmmm.  Maybe Dan gets booted or quits next week?!?  A girl can hope.

Considering that the show had finished filming and the producers knew who had won before they edited the season, I have to believe that Janet (or possibly Karishma or Dean) won since everyone else would get booed.  If, say, Elizabeth had won, no way would a lot of this had aired.

Also, Janet came across very well in her encounter with BRob and Sandra on IOTI.

    Janet FTW!

I remember Dan Foley was horrible but I don't remember exactly what he did.

Dan was a pompous ass who thought very highly of himself but didn't have the goods to back it up.  He was a chauvinistic mainsplainer, a truly dumb person who thought he was the smartest person in every interaction, and had a very thin skin.

I never thought it would be possible, but I feel better about Dan after the reckless malevolence displayed by Missy and Elizabeth last night.

I suspect it's because he wasn't complaining and was trying to still do his job.   This group responds best when you swan about crying or loudly complaining.  Behaving fairly normally is completely off their radar.

Since he didn't complain, I don't think they realized how sick he was.  Also, often with stomach ailments and food poisoning, you'll be better in 24-48 hours, regardless.

It’s similar to how she clearly expected everyone to be super excited about her engagement.

Plus the way she announced it:  "Guys, my f-buddy and I are engaged!"

The hell? Girl is a hot mess.

Wish they would show Grumpy pants Lee interacting with the guests. It's hard to imagine that he is actually fun to dine with given that everytime we see him he looks like he is pouting.

The editors must have an entire library of shots of him scowling and grumpy!

Anyway, beef tongue isn’t too gross to me since it’s not an unusual dish in my culture.

I don't have an issue with him serving tongue, but it seemed like the entire meal was very small portions.  Was it only one scallop over some stuff, then a piece of beef tongue about two-inches square in size with some romesco?  Then a flan?  Seems like tasting portions, not full portions.

Yes he did say that, and that was  after the other guy Eric (?) thought she was 30 and she said "I'm 26!"  Ouch.

These guys are so stuck in Junior High that someone of adult age actually behaving like an adult is completely foreign to them.

I couldn't even understand what he was saying, other than getting the gist that he mentioned he looked old.  They showed these clips (with Courtney, and in his cabin afterwards) on WWHL last week when he was on and he acted like he didn't even remember it happening - which certainly could be possible if he drank enough.  He was very embarrassed.  I hope he takes it as a lesson to tone down the drinking a bit.

Honestly.  He's bosun now, he needs to exhibit leadership -- on duty and off duty.  What he did to Kate at the bar was essentially assault, and it looks like he used her just to exert his masculinity to the guys because of Brian making more headway (ahem) with Courtney.

  18. While sitting in the crew mess after their night out, did Ashton really say to Courtney "you're very sensible even though you're not as old as you look"?!?  [italics mine] He was attempting to compliment her maturity, but O.M.G.

Dude's so off his game, it's hilarious, and I love Courtney for it.  It's like he's so hot he never actually learned how to flirt/seduce.

I’m going to have to disagree with that. You can be the strongest woman on the planet, that doesn’t change the fact that we live in a very patriarchal society. Women need male allies. Women need female allies. We all need each other. I think that is what Janet was saying.

We also would like to have equal rights even if we are not "strong women" -- whatever that means to whomever.

I'm in Canada too, and it was shown right at the end. There was a picture of Rudy with some lovely words that I can't recall 😞

It showed his name and birth/death dates, and then switched to "Survivor Icon. American Hero."

Why was Sandra wearing ace bandages on her wrists?  Carpal tunnel?

I don't think that's what Janet said.  She said that in order for women to be strong, they need support from everybody, both men and women.

I agree.  I kept waiting for her to articulate it more precisely.  I think she meant that men can actively support women's rights, they can be feminists, too.

Of course if she used that terminology, America's head would explode*. 😂

*But probably Jamal would congratulate himself on already being the best feminist.
