  1. I'm still on the "they are both terrible and were terrible to each other" train.  Nothing either of them has said/done to try and mitigate their own awfulness has rung true.

But I respect the opinions and the right to voice them of others.  Being hateful to each other online doesn't affect either of these people and it's just screams into a hurricane at this point.

  2. Well, if they do it in the right way, they don't.  Clark can say he's got a job as a consultant for some overseas company on the US political/economic situation and funnel cash in slowly for his "excellent salary", plus bonuses and other gifts from his "bosses".  Some shell companies overseas and proper tax payment, nobody is going to ask too many questions.

Ehh... depends on who you talk to. Every step you take towards heteronormativity (e.g. marriage, children, etc.) usually quells the speculation about celebs. But some people only become more convinced that you're closeted and hiding your sexuality.

Yeah, there are some specific fandoms that have a group of people that are... not ok with the actors/creators having families.

I have never quite understood the obsession, or at least fixation, that some fans have with the sexuality of celebrities.  I do see some of the "but he's really one of us" stuff, but there is a lot of "these two guys are in love and their wives are just beards and they are FORCING THEM TO HAVE BABIES!!".  I get wanting to see yourself in the famous people on your screens every day, the other one... I do not get.

  4. I think that Stephanie Laurens' Cynster family books would translate pretty good to TV, but the family is just enormous.  Same for Grace Burowes's books, which are nearly all interweaved at some level, to the point where it's practically  the "Grace Burowes Regency Romance Universe" rather than truly several book series.  there are so many modernly written series that I think would show off well on screen with the right adaptations.

  5. They don't ignore the Napoleonic War in the series, Marina's entire plot revolves around soldier baby daddy George who was away fighting in it.

As for how I think they might structure the series in the future, I think they will rearrange and combine, but not so much fundamentally change things.  Maybe combine/reverse books 3 and 4 and have some F+J in the background, similar to Pen's sister's relationship in the last 2 seasons was.

Maybe do 5 and 6 concurrently as well, and have a moderate time skip between.  Eloise could be feeling displaced not by Colin and Pen getting married and feeling left out, but maybe by the birth of their child/children and seeing the happy relationships of her siblings that she has so far shied away from (maybe a misguided relationship with the printer as background for some of that).  Or Francesca, after being widowed, goes back to the family home in the country and Eloise goes with her and meets up with Philip who lives in the area.  Maybe Michael comes and fetches Francesca back to London to integrate their household as he feels he should since she is technically his responsibility to care for.

And then another moderate time jump to Hyacinth and Gregory.  I NEED Hyacinth's story, if for no other reason than that she marries one of Lady Danbury's relatives (I want to say grandson, but... memory).

I do have to wonder, in the case of marriage/long term relationship, how it is that, apparently, Depp was only violent with one wife and doesn't seem to have behaved that way with the other women in his life.  I don't think I've ever heard of a man who was abusive to one partner and never with another.  If that's actually the case with Depp I think it speaks more to the specific relationship he had with Heard than the idea that predators don't prey on everyone they meet.

    This right here.

My stepfather was universally known as a good guy who could get heated in an argument, but had never hurt a soul.  His ex-wife had nothing but nice things to say about him (she left him for another guy, not because of anything that happened between them) and they stayed in each other's lives for like 20 years due to other family connections.

He yelled a lot when he and my mom got together, but tried to work on it.  There were a couple of incidents that were scary when I was a teen (he threw things in my direction a couple times but not "at me" according to him), but in general things were ok.  Time went by, his temper grew, he threw things more, yelled more.  Never once did he actually hit someone or threaten to until my sister and I were adults and he was pissed off and just grabbed my sister by the throat and slammed her to the ground one day.  It took 15 years for him to get physical.

There is not some metric for abuse.  You don't ever have to have hit someone before in your LIFE to abuse someone tomorrow.  Not all abusive behavior is ever recognized as such by even the people being abused.  The argument that "he never did it to anyone else" is a false argument because he may have done something, but that person didn't/doesn't consider it abusive even if we would.  It's only THIS relationship that matters.

Though, I'm going with mutually abusive in the Depp/Heard situation, based on how things have played out and what bits of evidence have come out.

  7. I didn't see a penis in real life until I was... well, older than Daphne.  And I'm a million percent sure that she wasn't exposed to the reading material and general media that we are today.  Babies don't count, neither does art.  It's so distanced from what the realities of a sexual relationship are that when you think of "seeing a penis" they don't even register.

  8. My position has not changed, I still don't think she's a villain.  Short sighted, sure.  Definitely waltzing down that path to hell with it's golden bricks of good intentions at times, but not evil or anything.

I think the 10 pounds would be a bit over 600 dollars, based on a currency calculator (first historic value from 1810 to 2017 and then from current pounds to dollars) so that's not a fortune or anything.  If she saved all of it though, she could work up enough to invest and live comfortably on once she aged out.

  9. If Pen were really trying to ruin Eloise she would have written about Eloise spending time alone with a man from the lower classes, not her going to some rallies.  She knew two big secrets and she chose to write about the one that would... well, honestly, the one that wasn't going to raise as many eyebrows.  I mean, anyone who had spent more than 15 seconds with Eloise would not be surprised that she might go to those "radical" meetings.

Pen DID NOT make any insinuations about Eloise and Theo, and she WAS NOT the only person who knew about Eloise being down there.  The Queen knew because her servant knew, and if a servant knows?  It's only a matter of time before everyone knows.  Not to mention that the dumb girl wasn't even really trying to hide it!  Eloise was, and probably still is, one stupid hug in the street from being sent away to live in Italy or something to spare her younger siblings being ruined by association with her.

Not commenting on whether Pen was wrong or right or whatever, just pointing out how stupid Eloise is.

  10. Yah, Edwina was totally wrong about Kate and her actions/motivations.  She should have been MUCH angrier with Anthony and just called it off, full stop, when she realized he didn't actually love her.

Although, Kate should have told her that he didn't love her, and that he had said so, before the engagement happened.  I know she was trying to be supportive at that point, but she knew what Edwina wanted from a marriage, and she should have given her the heads up.
