I'm waiting for the spaghetti strapped tanks with the bra straps showing to make a come back.

Oh they're back. I'm not sure they went anywhere far but they're very much around this summer. And I'd pay money for one of the Duggar girls to wear that with a pair of short denim shorts. If Mechelle could do it...

Maybe they had the first course with vegetables at Taco Bell.

Stop at Taco Bell for some fresh veg, then home for the main course of steak no trimmings, leave again for some fries at Burger King, then right back home for some cinnamon toast dessert.

    Caption for picture:

When we got home, Derick made steaks (from one of my family’s cows! lol) for a late dinner.

Are they on some sort of low carb diet? Who just plates up a slab of meat with nothing to accompany it? I mean, even just a piece of bread and a dollop of sauce/dip/sour cream and some veg would've made it better.

  4. While I agree on the hospitality angle, that a variety of food should be served if there's a buffet, I really don't think it's the responsibility of the bride and groom to keep track of people's allergies. If you have an allergy, let them know in advance. It's pretty unreasonable imo to expect people to cater to any potential allergies that they haven't even been told about.

  5. Isn't psychology a big no no in fundie circles? I was under the impression that they veer from highly sceptical to downright hostile to anything that involves studying the brain or psyche or any attempts to explain human behaviour as something other than sinning/demonic possession/fortress building devil et.c. They certainly don't appear to buy into any kind of child psychology/developement as, from what I've seen, they seem to interpret any kind of childish behaviour in terms of defiance and rebellion that needs to be squashed out of those manipulative little sinners. I would be surprised if Lauren had studied psychology at all but especially at college level. It would be a good thing if she had but it just doesn't seem to mesh with their beliefs.

You leave the box closed except for one end and scoop it just like any other carton.

I think perhaps our paper ice cream cartons must be of different sizes and design; ours are designed to open from the side and are pretty small. I'm trying to picture scooping ice cream out of a block paper carton and even if I was using a teeny tiny scoop, it would end up a mess. :D

If I want a single serving I just cut off a piece of the carton and remove the cardboard from that. And yes Jill, I use a "butcher" knife.

In CA we have to pay 10 cents for every bag at all grocery and drug stores now. So we carry them around in our cars to prevent buying more bags every single time.  Except I forget to bring the bags in with me and end up buying more ??‍♀️

    Oh hi are you me?

We've had to pay for grocery bags for as long as I can remember but they've upped the ante now for environmental reasons so now all shops charge for bags and the price has doubled. I mean, it's a good thing really; plastic is causing so much damage to the oceans, but I always forget to bring my own bag and end up having to pay for a new one.

The black and white photo is what she posted with the original recipe, in March. The other photo is current and the table seems to have been replaced. It’s the same view in both.

Oh, ok. The camera angle makes it look like both tables could fit, but it makes more sense that they replaced the small table with a bigger one. That they didn't keep the chairs when they have no real replacements makes somewhat less sense. Unless it was a set and they sold it as such. Aaand now I've spent decidedly far too much time thinking about Duggar furniture, i.e. more than two minutes.

They had a small square kitchen table with chairs and now, they have this beaten up tan wood in the living room.

Looking at the picture above, it appears they still have the small table with chairs. It looks a bit on the tiny side for four peple so I can see why they'd want a bigger one, but I don't get why they don't just throw out the small table or at least use those chairs for the big one instead of using whatever they can scrounge up from around the house. It's not as if they have a formal dining room; both tables are in the same combined kitchen/dining area, literally right next to each other.

  10. What happened to all that furniture they got after their wedding? There were entire sets if I recall correctly, all dark wood and rather ugly but there was enough of it to fill up the McMansion. And yet now everything they own is mismatched and worn, looking like thrift shop finds; those "chairs" at the big dining table look like piano stools. Nothing wrong with being thrifty but I thought they already owned furniture. Unless it was just part of the McMansion deal and Boob repossessed it all when Jill and Derrick went to Danger America.

NEVER would Jeremy be allowed to hold this book or the scroll with his bare hands.

Haha, that was my first thought. I studied archaeology for a bit and anytime we got to handle old stuff it was DO NOT TOUCH WITHOUT GLOVES OR THE WORLD WILL END.

They were very serious about gloves. And, apparently, wrong.

There is no law that says steak is only for dinner.

Absolutely true. Cooked breakfasts with meat and eggs are a very Anglo/American thing to eat whereas most of Europe prefers something lighter in the morning. In some Asian countries rice is a breakfast staple. My working class grandparents used to eat a light coffee and plain bread first breakfast and then had a cooked second breakfast a few hours later (no they were not hobbits). It's all cultural. That said, I have to admit that the idea of putting that particular meat and those particular eggs in my mouth first thing in the morning makes me feel a bit ill. That meal looks very dry and not even a little bit tasty.

Jill keeps bragging about all the big salads and fresh fruit the Duggars supposedly ate when she was a child but I see no signs of that habit in the food she's posting. It's a wonder they all don't have scurvy.

Keep your eye on when they have the bachelor bachelorette party because they usually get married a week after that.

Wait, I thought this was the bachelor/bachelorette party. Like, a joint one and they just called it a shower because of that. Wtf is a wedding shower then? Is this a thing outside of Duggardom? What's the purpose? I would have thought pretty much everything would be covered by the bachelor party/ rehersal dinner/wedding sequence of events. I have so many questions now!
