  1. Did I hear this in the preview for next time? MALE VOICE (CHARLIE?): Lucy's gone off the rails! Kinda like this show... Seriously, seriously loving it. Extant is so crazy. I wasn't pleased when Under the Dome got wacky, because I'd read the original book, and what was being done in the show seemed like sacrilege. Even though I know that it was done with the author's approval. (I've been reading Stephen King since I was in grade school. I don't read everything he does, and admit he's got a lot of bombs among the hits, but I'm fond of him.) But Extant can get as crazy as it wants. I've got nothing to compare it to (favorably or unfavorably). Sometimes it makes me groan, but other times I'm laughing. Like when Molly asked J.D. to take a marrow sample. (Thank goodness we found out later he'd been a combat medic! At least he had some idea how to handle a needle. ;-) Or when Terra said the mommy elephant was dead. Or when the elevator nearly killed Julie. Did anyone else get the impression that Ethan knew exactly what the elevator was up to? When they got out he gave the elevator this look. Creepy Ethan is kind of fun. I was waiting for Lucy to hit on Charlie. I actually said, "OMG this nerd gets so much ta--" just before he broke it off. It's okay, I can call Charlie a "nerd"; I'm a geek myself. :-) What a sad, sad farewell scene between Molly and J.D. "Goodbye forever!" "I'll miss you!" "See you in another life, brotha!" Wait, that last one is from another TV series... Toby is taking orders from a computer/AI? Oh, Toby, Toby, if only you had any idea how truly "infallible" these things are (or aren't). If Charlie never installed the limiters on Lucy, and they used Lucy's programming as the blueprint for the rest of the Humanichs, does that mean they don't have limiters either? I felt so bad for Ethan when Lucy told him that he would never be like her and the other Humanichs. Poor little guy is just looking for a family. :-( I love the spider-bots. Good way for Ethan to find stuff out. Also a good way to get blackmail material. I don't think Ethan would actually do that. Lots of people he could extort on this show, however. No idea what's going to happen next week. But I'll be watching!
  2. This episode was pretty good! I had low expectations after last season. It wasn't a bad show, it was reasonably watchable, and thank God it was so much better than Under the Dome. :-P Now it's back, and something's changed. Maybe they're trying to streamline the plot? As was mentioned up-thread, a lot of supporting characters seem to be missing. Things felt rather cluttered last season, perhaps they're tightening the focus. I will not miss John; I personally did not think he and Molly had good chemistry. No doubt he's a good actor, just not as Molly's husband. And killing him off cuts the amount of time Molly has to debate whether she misses him (they were married) or it's just as well he's gone (he frickin' cheated on her). She doesn't seem to be doing much debating so far however. Probably happened off-screen. I called Julie and John being involved last season. I know, it's easy to say that NOW, but seriously. Didn't fully trust either of them. Found myself talking to/yelling at the characters. Is it because I'm more invested? "Molly... Molly, DON'T... Aw, crap." OMG, Jeffrey Dean Morgan. He gets better with age. I remember him more for Denny Duquette (Grey's Anatomy) than John Winchester (Supernatural). Like Denny, he's funny and charming on Extant, too. Hope he sticks around. :-)
  3. Hey everyone! I got Ruby on December 3 and have been playing it since. I'm about 15 hours in, and I've just reached Mauville. Lord, that place is a maze. I looked at the map in the strategy guide and it's really not that bad; it's just the perspective changes that make it confusing. Currently leveling up some Ground types in preparation for the 3rd gym battles. I got a Sandshrew on Wonder Trade! So happy. :-) I'm not enjoying Ruby quite as much as I enjoyed Y, but then, I've barely started. ;-) AntiBeeSpray - $14.99 for X/Y??? Awesome!
  4. I thought this week's episode was kind of disappointing. But, knowing it was originally the 2nd episode, it makes sense. Early on the show was a bit rough; it's consistently gotten better each week. Now, if we could just get more people to watch it....
  5. Aaah! I waited until morning to post, and you guys took some of the best comments! Jim, the 80s called, and they want that beard back. :-) I'm glad to hear that he's important beyond this episode. They certainly spent a lot of time fleshing him out. For some reason I find him terribly unsettling, as normal as he seems. Papa Midnite did indeed have some of the best lines, particularly when he referred to John. "Jackass of all trades" has already been mentioned, but I also liked "street wizard". I'm sure there were a couple more that made me laugh. Also, his jacket is gorgeous. The tag-team ritual/exorcism was beyond awesome. I may have actually clapped. :-D For someone who uses a cafeteria/buffet approach to magic, John doesn't have a lot of respect for any religion or tradition. It makes me want to smack him, but it's perfect for his character; he's seen so much, he's tired, jaded. He doesn't have time for niceties. He wouldn't be the same if he was politically-correct and worried about causing offense. I did do a lot of exclaiming "John! No!" at the TV, I have to admit. Except for when I was exclaiming, "Chas! No!" that is. Chas is so chill about his power, it's hilarious. Zed. Oh, Zed. I want to dislike her, but she's so useful, and actually "appears" to give a crap about the people she's helping. She and John better stop flirting though - it's only going to end in blood and hellfire, I'm sure. No Manny? Didn't really need him, I suppose. Good catch on the Japanese urban legend. I remember reading about it, but I didn't have a cite. I don't think there's a "right" answer to the spirit's question, but Chas gave it a good try. Is it more accurate to call the accidentally-raised deceased spirits, or ghouls? Or something else? John did say cancer guy was sucking the life out of his wife. There was another "This workplace has gone X days without an incident"-moment, dark humor-wise, but I can't recall it now. So frustrating! Are past episodes available on Hulu or something? Even though she was misguided, the grandma was kind of special. If you look at the actress, she is not your typical "Hollywood" grandma. She's short. She's seriously overweight. She's not good-looking. It's like she's a regular person! Nice job, show! I'm actually pretty impressed with this show at the moment, and that's something that hasn't happened since the Hannibal TV series. :-)
  6. No Pokemon topic? What, are we all too grown-up to play Pokemon? ;-) Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire were released today. Anyone pick them up? Thoughts so far? No spoilers, please; I've only played the demo. I'm still playing Pokemon Y. I just bred the very best Joltik that I could, and slapped an Everstone on him. Little bugger is adorable. :-D I'll be getting Omega Ruby on December 3rd, Arceus willing. So excited!
  7. This week's episode was sooo much better than last week's. It's like night vs. day, or Constantine vs. anyone with a moral compass. ;-) Just kidding, John is pretty entertaining. The dialogue this time around didn't seem as clunky, and Zed is actually tolerable! And useful. Amazing. More Chas! Thank you! My mom laughed when the angel popped up when John was tied down. It was pretty sudden. Yeah, the re-animated corpses thrashing around (particularly the ones in body bags!) was pretty unnerving. After the second bloody explosion, I called out to my mom: "An effect so nice, they used it twice!" If they keep up this the quality they produced in this episode, I'm probably in it until the end of the run. :-D
  8. I'm actually glad for Callie; I didn't like her and Arizona together, particularly after Arizona cheated on Callie. Some couples can't get past that (I'm not sure I could). I do hope they each find someone good, who makes them happy, who both supports and challenges them at the same time. Got a bit of a vibe between Arizona and Geena Davis' character in the on-call room... But I think that was just regular tension, not romantic tension. Please do not pair up Callie and Owen, show. PLEASE. I know they both want kids, but that's not enough to make a relationship work. I can't picture Callie as a stay-at-home mom, either. She enjoys her work too much. (Apologies to those I offended with my post two weeks ago. Turns out I had a severe sinus infection, and my judgement was quite impaired. I will be more careful in the future, I promise. :-)
  9. Sorry, I forgot something. Jesse Williams is really growing on me! He did such an excellent job as Jackson tonight... On the one hand, he has to lead the hospital, but on the other, he'd really rather be a surgeon. It's never been made quite as clear as tonight. Bailey is going to be even MORE insufferable from now on.
  10. I didn't watch the first two episodes of the season. The only thing that kept me going through some of the crappier sections of Grey's Anatomy was Cristina. Once Sandra Oh left - bless her heart, I know she's going to do great wherever she goes :-) - I didn't really see the point in going on with the show. Tonight my mom suggested I give the show a try again. For the first 30-40 minutes, I thought, hey, I should start watching this again. Alex and Meredith were awesome. I really felt for Callie. Even Owen brought it. And I started to get sucked in. Then, the last 5 minutes. Are you effing kidding me??? Rewarding someone who's done NOTHING but behave like a toddler with a tantrum for the last 3 seasons at least? I AM DONE WITH THIS SHOW. >_<
