Nick was always too worried about getting laid to be a good daddy.  I can’t remember if he was with GTs Phyllis or Chelsea first but I remember at one point GTs Phyllis was down on all fours in his living room in her undies! And Christian lived there! That’s nasty. Then Connor locked the boy in the garage at some point because Uncle Daddy was too busy getting in his mom Chelsea’s pants.

It's not like CAN was running the camera for Nick and GTPhyllis.

    jk

Considering CAN has been primarily raised by nannies, the boy is better off without the fulltime attention of Nick. Clearly TIIC are fine with the Underpants Sexcapades. CAN can exercise his sexual disfunction and abandonment issues in adulthood by exposing his home life in a memoir.

Sharon’s come a long way since her bipolar fire starting days. Just today she gave Tessa the chance at the apartment so her daughter would be closer to her.

I was discussing Sharon in 2015 when she was krazy with a k and knowingly took CAN from dying Ol'Hammertoes arms and continued the lie CAN was her child. You're talking about Sharon in 2021 who never mentions CAN or her MyPolar and gives unsolicited counseling from her concierge therapy and coffee shop.

If not Sharon as the best parent for Christian, it should be Devon who is obviously a natural.

Darvon is written as a blank page; he's a street urchin, he's a musician, he's a billionaire, he's a businessman, he's a lover, he's a liar, he's a widower, he's a philanthropist, he's a dime store philosopher, he's a best friend, he's a sperm donor, he's a baby whisperer, he's a baby poacher, Darvon is busy convincing himself he's the only legitimate parent for Bowie, and is planning to take possession.

There's nothing natural about Darvon. He doesn't go to work every day. He has more money than Croesus. He's living with his true love's twin sister, and she's encouraging him to renege on a sperm donation contract so he can have what he wants. Natey Nate Nate Nate Nate Nate thinks Darvon is all about Bowie and Bowie is all about Darvon and to hell with Abby and Chance.

Darvon has none of the personal or career concerns that plague Abby or Chance, and has brushed aside the idea that breaking a contract and intruding on his friend's new family is going to cause irreparable harm.

I always thought they should have gifted Christian to Sharon. Yeah she was wrong not to come clean when she realized she didn’t have a baby but Nick played a part with first with the wacky doctor and later by being too dumb not to figure out that Sages baby didn’t die. Adam’s not really a kid person and Nicks too horny to be a good dad.  Sharon’s probably the most kid friendly. She’s usually married to a nice guy and at some point she’ll circle back to Christians dads.

    Nope.

It took forever for Sharon to admit she wasn't CAN's birthmother, while she used Dylan's desperation to hang on to both Dylan and CAN. She would still be lying about CAN if not forced to confess the truth, with the help of a DNA test.

Sharon was crazier than an outhouse rat with MyPolar and in no condition to take care of an infant. Plus, Dylan was already walking out the door toward Witness Protection and the Divorce Express Lane.

Nick wasn't the best parental choice, but he had the most stable and consistent childcare for CAN. Atonal was/is still a Genoa City pariah, still dreaming up more revenge fantasies against his family, with Chelsea bringing up the criminal rear -- No one deserves to be dropped into that household. Connor is a manipulative and creepy enough product of Chelz/Atonal. And after all this time, Atonal makes no mention of CAN or attempts to connect with him.

Uncle Jack, you keep dragging Phyllis, uninvited, along to these family functions and they're going to start giving you the wrong dates and addresses.  Bringing Phyllis along to Chance and Abby's first Christmas with DA BABY could have only been made worse if you'd had Baby Brother ButtBiscuit tag along.

Jack reminds me of social commentators who repeat the same lie until they actually have convinced themselves the lie is truth. Eventually they persuade enough people, and the lie is codified into gospel.

By including Phyllis in every Abbott-related holiday gathering seems to be as much a plan to make her palatable to the Abbott's as it is to convince himself that Phyllis has changed. If only Jack could hear the insincerity, ridicule and treachery in her conversations. Tracy wasn't fooled by Phyl and Ashley will be civil, but they will be candid with their disgust with Phyllis returning to the Abbott Mansion and Jack's bed. And Jack will be determined to defend Phyllis until she makes a fool of him again.

Jack has convinced himself the lie that Phyllis has human, loving, altruistic feelings and deserves another 5000 chances to prove it with him on top of her.

Phyllis is right about her kids - they are a testament to her.  Daniel, who was mostly raised by Danny Romalotti with help from Cricket and his sister turned out pretty well, all things considered.  His time having Phyllis heavily involved in his life was often disastrous, culminating when she forced him to keep the baby he had with Daisy who he'd originally let ButtBiscuit and Victoria adopt.  There's a reason he left town and rarely returned and it's not because of her great mothering.  Granddaughter Lucy doesn't seem to be too interested in Grandma Phyllis, either.

As much as I liked Daniel fighting Phyllis for control of his own life, walking away from Genoa City and separating himself and Lucy from Phyllis' next manipulation was the perfect end to his story. Leaving Phyllis behind, feeling bereft she had lost Daniel, is her occasional punishment when she chooses to remember Daniel at all.

    Quote

Dummer, on the other hand, is a testament to what it's like having Phyllis actually raise a child.  She's moronic, self-centered, grasping, not-too-bright and inexplicably resembling a near relative of Donald Duck.  Or as Jack says, she's "as smart as they get".

One thing Dummer did right and that's go live on another continent.

Dumber is the genuine article of Phyllis' parenting and disordered self-indulgence.

Phyllis got back exactly what she put into her children.

Show was so baby heavy today, it was hard to avoid all the talk of life's greatest miracle.  Baby Dominic got an obscene number of gifts while behind the scenes Amanda was advocating ways Devon can permanently alienate Abby and Chance under the guise of spending time with the baby while on that other planet spinning out of orbit, Tessa and Mariah were discussing adopting.

It was an embarrassment of riches for Bowie's first Christmas. By the time he puts on his last Christmas onesie, he will have outgrown them all.

How do Tessa and Maria plan to adopt when they still live in a transient hotel, have a variety of misdemeanors in their past, Mariah has played incubator and adoption pushes her all Baby Rabies buttons?

For all the desperate couch boinking between Abby and Chance I expect a true Miracle Baby is in the offing for the reunited couple. Chance will miraculously be shooting with live ammo and Abby will have regrown a working reproductive system.

So let it be written by TIIC, so let it be done.

    Quote

Amanda - just because Devon gave Abby some fuel doesn't mean he gets to keep the car.  Devon should know better than to take advice from somebody who considers Phyllis and ButtBiscuit good friends.

Hillary 2.0 keeps pressing the point it will serve Darvon best to position himself more prominently in Bowie's life. And the more the subject is mentioned, the more attractive the prospect is for Darvon. He says he doesn't want to intrude, but Darvon doesn't stop entertaining the idea he is the ideal father for Bowie. It makes no difference to Hillaru 2.0 that she operated as Darvon's lawyer to sign away all his rights and liabilities to the result of his sperm donation to Abby and Chance. Everything is negotiable and subject to change. Hillary 2.0 can show up at the Chancellor Mansion, enjoy the Christmas hospitality of Abby and Chance, knowing she's finagling Darvon to claim Bowie as his son, and not have a tick of self-reproach. Darvon feigns humility, but covets Bowie as he slow walks to completion of his lost Hillary 1.0 relationship and Bowie makes three.

Wasn't that over 10 years ago? Things have changed quite a bit. When he was working for GCPD, he got shot, which rendered him temporarily sterile, and on his last mission all of his teammates were killed. Those are life changing situations for many. Not to mention he is older and wants to settle down as a family man. Seems like the man is at a turning point in his life.

I think almost every character has changed their mind numerous times. How many times was Adam, Victoria or Nick never going to have anything to do with Victor, or Newman again? Devon quit his job at Jabot that Neil set up for him saying the business world was not his thing and not what he wanted in life. Yet he's in it now.  Chance is allowed to change too. Everything he said in his early 20s, or even last year, is not his fate for life.

Chance needs something more than wearing out his disapointment/guilt at the dead end GCPD. Paul Williams has disappeared and Det. Rey Rey is busy pouting about Sharon's ex-husband/ex-lovers cutting into his action. Chancellor Industries would be a good respite from the Army/Cop Shop dead zone.

There's another possibility for Chance to walk into a key position at Chancellor Industries: If Lily is embroiled in NotBilly's revenge plot public failure. It's exactly the one thing Jill wanted Lily not to do. Jill wanted Lily to temper NotBilly's worst behaviors at Chance Dot Com and that failed, but Lily as a supporting cast member in NotBilly's playacting farce could give the new CEO of Chancellor Industries another NotBilly-generated black-eye, and Jill is not going to appreciate more bad press with Lily's bold-face name front and center.

Enter Chance to clean up the mess.

I'm glad Victor warned Sally. I as worried that Nostrils would pull off his little charade but it looks like TGVN has his number.

It's odd that Atonal is taking a victory lap on less than reliable evidence NotBilly is circling the drain. He used to be a more circumspect gambler, but it could be TIIC setting him up for a faceplant and Victor stops him from being made a fool by his ego. Atonal should have the Newman Black Ops do some reverse investigating on what has been seen versus what can be proved. Bartenders, wait staff, liquor store cashiers, dumpster diving, secret listening devices, neighbors and poker players questioned, bar glasses tested ... The whole shebang.

But Atonal is being written getting ahead of the factual evidence, being carried away by the idea he has crushed Genoa City's Village Idiot -- It's a low bar, but most of Atonal's plots and plans fail because hubris and his ego take the lead. Victor has warned him and Sally not to charge ahead -- he believes NotBilly is up to old tricks or the verasity of the damaging videos. Victor's battled NotBilly and the Abbott's forever and knows of what he speaks when it comes to NotBilly's motivation.

NotBilly has exonerated himself of Delia's death by hating Atonal. It is one vice NotBilly won't shake off. Without the Atonal-hate, NotBilly would be left to admit his culpability, and he takes no responsibility for anything he lays waste.

Christine having to announce that Your Mission Is Over, and With Your Help didn't seem to placate Chance much. He's as miserable as ever ... Maybe another couch boink with the missus.

I have no expectations of story narratives by TIIC. This writing regime hasn't been able to write themselves out of a corner yet. Sudden, clumsy, off-camera endings are the path of least resistance for TIIC.

I was interested in the new Rosales family. Rey Rey started out with a usless brother and ex-wife, then wasted pining over Sharon while she was in fuck with and pursuing Atonal. Lola was squandered on Kyle and left in Society's kitchen. Celeste Rosales made a small splash, then went back to Miami.

Since married to Sharon, Rey Rey's done very little, except follow dead leads and be manipulated by people he should be ignoring.

I know what you mean about magically gifted, talented, mature and rational children and/or teenagers (after the typical teenage run in with the law). Faith, Moses, and Connor's emotional manipulation of the adults around them, get on my nerves.

Is NotBilly planning another expose' to render his last retraction moot? Does he plan on taking over what's left of Chance Dot Com and self-publish or is he going to sell the new Locke/Newman article to another media site?

It doesn't matter. Lily is supporting his plan, and he's right back to where he was when he gambled and lost Chance Dot Com.

Why NotBilly is wasting his time pretending he's circling the drain seems to get Victor and Atonal to drop their guard and he can take advantage of some small c**** in their well-built plan to shut him down. Whatever Victor and Atonal have planned to finish NotBilly off, they better get on with it.

Why is it ok for Devon to be overly obsessed with Bowie but not Mariah.  TIIC sure give Devon’s obsession a lot more airtime than Mariah’s obsession.

It's not okay for either of them to obsess over Bowie, but that's the drama TIIC have written to drag out Abby's Baby Rabies and make a bigger mess of Bowie's life.

The difference is that Darvon is better at hiding his opinions and intentions about who's the better parent, where Mariah was publicly crazed, and she admitted it at Bowie's christening.

TIIC are setting up Darvon's play for Bowie's custody, that's why Mariah is stuck playing second fiddle to Noah schmooping over Tessa.

Like a mouse, Darvon is playing the opportunist, making it his job to father Bowie because he thinks Chance is unstable and guilt-ridden, poisoning Bowie's life. Darvon has essentially vowed to assume control over the one thing Chance seems to take joy in, the nurturing of his son.

Like Mariah, Darvon assumes he's the only person that has Bowie's best interests at heart and is determined to pressure his way into a custodial position.

With Abby jibbering her concern for her husband to Darvon, and Chance handing Darvon every reason to doubt his mental state, When listening to Darvon cooing that he'll be there with Bowie all the time, I doubt Abby or Chance understand the gravity of Darvon's information gathering or what his promise to Bowie actually mean.

Creating a situation where Tessa and Noah successfully mate for impregnation would be a carefully calculated, premeditated plan on Mariah's part. And would be a pathetically Soapy choice for TIIC to take Mariah on her sacred journey to have a baby to replace Bowie to fix her emotionally warped life.

It would crush Mariah if Tessa and Noah unite, fall in like, because they actually care about each other. Replacement Bowie will live with them, and Mariah's manipulations would be for nothing.

If TIIC want to further degrade Mariah, as they have with other characters, that would do it.

I've hated how Mariah has been written as an incubator, a victim of her maternity to Bowie and hormonally unbalanced. Why make Abby's stupid Baby Rabies story worse by debilitating Mariah's character too? For irrational reasons, Mariah cannot wait a year before getting pregative again, and tries to strongarm Tessa into having a baby. Tessa declines, but Mariah is not appeased. They have no home to care for a baby, and don't appear to be looking for one. Why not find a place to live and prepare that for a child and then get pregnant? What's the hurry, other than being in a hormonal and emotional storm because Mariah obsessed with Bowie?

With Noah, I was hoping Mariah would have the wherewithal to see Noah was wooing Tessa and have her call him out for his crass and inappropriate behavior. Tessa needs to be informed that Noah still has feelz for her, and to be less personal with him.

Random thought - Why doesn't Devon make a bid for Chancecomm?  He could use it to promote his music business, make it an entertainment type media site, he has some experience with Hillary's old show and he's got the money. It would put him in with the other business types, i.e. Victor, Jack, Adam and widen his storyline opportunities.  It might even freshen everything up a little.

I thought when Lily was talking with Darvon about the Chance Dot Com/NotBilly debacle, someone would suggest Darvon throw some cash in that direction. But it was <crickets>.

A renamed Chance Dot Com might expand on merchandizing what Darvon has already in place at his recording company (Is that under the Hamilton/Winters corporate umbrella?). It's hard to say.

Darvon doesn't appear to spend much time spinning the grindstone of billionaire corporate stuff. If something is work-related it happens in a restaurant or off his coffee table; he has no office at GCAC any longer and never refers to any member of staff. Darvon actually doing something not related to ministering to his flock at the Church of the Magic 8 Ball, ruminating about Bowie or fucking Hillary 2.0 would be a 180° change from how TIIC have been writing his character for years.

ETA - I thought Noah was verging on creepy yesterday, at least a bit, with his covert glances at Tessa.  What part of "she dumped you for your sister" is unclear to him?

    <Shudder>

Noah doesn't care that she's in a relationship with Mariah as long as he gets positive reinforcement from the oblivious Tessa. Noah's also got Darvon and Sharon on board with his working with Tessa -- More encouragement.

Noah is becoming more enamored with Tessa and pursues contact with her regularly; he's all compliments and praise about her music. Mariah has an inkling that there's something going on but might be dismissing it because she's been emotionally off kilter for so long she doesn't know the difference between reality and emotionally-driven imaginings -- Good thing Mariah's working at Jabot where her faulty decision-making processes won't matter.

He's still scanning the horizon for a legitimate excuse to take possession of Bowie, with Hillary 2.0s rabid assistance.

I feel bad for MO being stuck with this iteration of Abby and I hope she gets some sort of enlightenment soon.  Because, otherwise, Abby is coming across as utterly self-absorbed to her own comfort levels with barely even lip service to Chance's feelings, let alone those of Mariah or Devon's.

Abby's caught herself into a Happy Family trap that doesn't allow much room for Chance's PTSD/survivor's guilt/depression. She wasn't able to deal with Mariah going off the rails over Bowie, and now Chance is dragging himself through the motions of her expectations and living in a town he's not particularly familiar with. And Genoa City has its own expectations, some are waiting for him to fall apart in order to take advantage.

If there was a time machine that eliminated storylines, the Chancellor Mansion would be baby-free.

TIIC of Y&R are generally inept at story-telling, and kid/baby SLs can be an anchor on the progress of some Soaps. Handing them over to nannies, then to be sent to SORAS boarding school is all too common. I expect Victoria and NotBilly's children to return as hormonal teenagers when next we see them.

So Nick returned a baseball cap and a video game to Phyllis?  That encapsulates their relationship in a nutshell.  In the case of those two, an actual nutshell.

Other than their disgusting relationship history, forcing their egotism on others, elevator fucking, bickering, spoiling for fights, video games and sport-related stories was all they had.

I never expected anything more from either of them.

So Phyllis misses Daniel?  I'm pretty positive the feeling isn't reciprocal.

Phyllis burned so many bridges with Daniel, I expect video chats and phone messages are as close as Daniel cares to be with his mother.

It’s safe to go out because Abby says it safe to go out.  Even if Chance 2.0’s Section Chief says it safe, how does he know. The Section Chief thought the safe house was safe.

Because we don't see any of these conversations, it sounds like Abby's talking out of her hat on their security situation. It's not hard to believe that the threat of Spanish terrorists will dissipate like the threat of Stitch returning to menace Mariah and Bowie.

Mariah and Tessa are still the only bright spot to the mundane citizens of GC.  Yes Devon, Noah did know how to bring out the best in Tessa but it was by talking about Mariah.  As an semi professional photographer, I stopped doing weddings and portraits and just do landscapes now because no matter how hard you try, some people are not photogenic. I still take pictures of my grandchildren but they are all candid.  I sneak up on them using a long lens.  To my eye Mariah is the most photogenic and Rodan the Petty is the least photogenic.

They are so well suited to each other, it's unfortunate that TIIC are needlessly inserting Noah into their relationship because he's not over whatever happened to him in London and is inflating a fantasy romance with Tessa.

For a former street person, it's odd Tessa hasn't noticed Noah is being overly attentive and complimentary toward her ... Grooming Tessa that he's a safe person to turn to while Mariah's hypervigilance is up and down, like in a prize fight with her emotions over Bowie.

Mariah has the least manipulated facial features and photographs beautifully. Her skin is luminous in HD makeup. I am tired of her wearing browns and rust colors.

Excuse me. Did Abby actually say that she use to be a selfish person until she met Chance 2.0?  That’s a good laugh 😂😂

Yeah, she said that. And at that point in the episode it was amusing, but toward the end Abby was listening to Chance talk to Nina and heard him repeat the same ineffectual phrases that he was 'fine.'

People don't fake depression. They fake being fine. Whether Chance and Abby understand it or not, they have been glossing over his underlying disappointment in himself and the stigma of admitting he failed his men and mission. I think Abby finally realized that Chance's mental health/feelings of guilt were more substantial, and his ability to return to his old life was in doubt.

Amanda I got news for you consultants and specialist are just run of the mill Interior Designers that charge more because they can. Just as some layers that charge $300 an hour can be just as good as lawyers that charge $1,000 an hour.

The decorator recommended to assist us with the home we were building (Santa Monica home was destroyed in the 1994 Northridge earthquake) had a Master of Architecture and former movie set designer. She was very talented and was a great help when I needed it most.

What’s worse than Rodan the Petty?

    Shingles?

    Tinnitus?

    Sand in the lube?

    C-Span Capitol Riot Commision hearings?

Hillary 2.0 complimenting and praising Phyllis that she's worthy of pursuing a relationship with Jack one more time?

Actually nothing but Chelsea is right down there with her.  Since Banana Breath the Pompous is a free agent, let him get back with Chelsea.

    Gaaa! They were horrible together!

Considering how much Nick enjoys holding grudges, it's hard to imagine that he's over her lying and betraying him so she could run off with her ill-gotten spoils from Fenmore's. Or is that history best brushed aside so TIIC can write another story arc that make no sense at all with two actors so inept no one gives a tinker's dam if they succeed or fail.
