Leaving aside the celebrated Hamilton, my local Shakespeare theater in Washington, DC has been employing a diverse cast for a number of their plays where, in the past, you would typically find primarily white actors in the lead roles. And, I'm getting the impression that casting out of the usual mold is becoming more common. Isn't there a new version of David Copperfield starring Dev Patel?

Maybe it was one of those motion detector lights. That used to happen to me all the time when I was sitting in my office at work, staring at my computer screen. I would have to start waving my arms wildly to get them back on.... Ah, those pre-pandemic, normal times days.

I was just going to post that! I was "half watching" the dog show on Thursday afternoon and heard that the dog's name was Claire and just didn't make the connection. Later, I had to laugh when I read on twitter that the dog's actual full name is Claire's!

Laura seemed to just get through by the skin of her teeth each week while better bakers left. Since she's now in the final with Dave and Peter, I'm rooting for either of those guys to win because Peter started out great and has rebound at just the right time and Dave has steadily improved. If Hermine had made it through, I wouldn't have cared who of the three won, because she also has been pretty stellar throughout the competition.

I've been wondering about that. When do they film these series? Is it at the peak of summer? I know the weather in that part of the world is not comparable to most of the United States, but I'm just curious if they film it in a season that's cooler? Warmer? When?

I like the Pru-gasm one-liner and the Prual and Poo.
One thing that gets me about these chocolate episodes or any episode involving ingredients that melt in hot weather -- especially when it comes to show stoppers. Why can't they allow all those waiting to be judged to keep their creations in the fridge until they are judged instead of sitting on a table waiting. The last person waiting is at a disadvantage. Maybe they do and we don't see it.

Since I just watched the episode, the Boris skit was there. Because it was, I wonder if that factored into the episode cutting off so abruptly at the end. I enjoy watching them all commiserate with the one going home and congratulating the star baker. And then, don't we get a little commentary from each of these people? Did I miss that?
I also feel like we missed out on a segment where Paul and Pru discuss who's in danger of leaving and who's in the top. It's been a while, since I watched any previous seasons, so maybe my mind's playing tricks, but it all seemed very rushed at the end. Hope they don't continue doing that.
In any event, I felt so bad for Dave. I'd be pissed too if someone wasn't paying attention and took all my hard work out in one swipe! I know it wasn't on purpose, but anytime you're moving your work up to the front -- especially with other people doing the same -- dramatic movements should probably be checked at the door.

I am beyond baffled why Puerto Ricans would support Trump. What ads could they be running in Florida that negates how much he screwed Puerto Rico, in how much contempt he appears to hold them, the fact that he doesn't even know or care that they're Americans.
I'm also *almost* at a loss as to why any ethnic Mexicans and Central Americans who are now Americans would support Trump since he has treated immigrants like garbage, has ripped their children out of their arms and has called them rapists. I say almost, because I'm aware that once people get to the U.S., start making their lives here, and become citizens, they seem to lose sympathies for immigrants as much as other Americans might whom Trump appeals to. But, it's a sad state of affairs.

If they do need him in the distant future -- I mean, when in the world are they going to even be able to film the 6th season?! -- hopefully he'll be free or they'll hire another actor. (After all, look how often Tobias Menzies has popped back up again, and even Graham McTavish showed up unexpectedly this season.) Needless to say, his character will be older so that could play into using another actor.
To be honest, I was pissed that they didn't recast Jenny last season since she did play a small but crucial role.

I doubt Sam is directly in charge of his Rotten Tomatoes profile. His Outlander credits are on IMDB. He promotes the show all the time and is happy to talk about it, so I can't imagine he is avoiding the connection. Who knows who writes those profiles. Could be anybody.

The fact that they didn't 1) introduce every team in the first episode nor 2) judge everyone in the first episode, sucked. It made it obvious who wouldn't be either winning or going home.

I haven't read book 6 yet, so I have no idea if Bonnet's death is the same here as it was in the book. Before this, I did know that his end involved him drowning and that Bree shot him. I'm just amazed that Jamie was relying on the law to take care of Bonnet, instead of just killing him outright. That shows a real difference to his position in Scotland where it was kill first, ask questions later.
I have to admit I was surprised that Bonnet was going to sell Bree. Don't know why as I'm pretty sure he had no interest in keeping her around.
I had no idea when Moby Dick was written, and have never read it. I'm surprised Bree remembered enough of it to tell it as if she were reading. LOL! I would've slipped in some modern references in the midst of my desperation, but of course, how would Bonnet know?

When you introduce a gun at the beginning of a story, it has to be used by the end. Seeing Roger so obviously pick up that snake head had to mean something and I was just waiting for that to come full circle.

Well, there was a lot of singing in this episode from very good singers, including the actress playing Jocasta who was in the movie "The Commitments" as a younger woman and did some marvelous singing in that.

I absolutely loved this episode. I was not spoiled for Ian's return so I was so pleasantly surprised and desperately wanted to hear his story.
I thought the silent movie footage was perfect. We have to remember, since Claire, Brianna, and Roger are from the future, they would process their trauma through that prism. especially since, many times, we process trauma through memories from our past -- through our younger lives -- so not surprised that they use modern devices to highlight the trauma of someone from the future.
I agree that they're under using Fergus and hope he has more to do in the future.
Edit to add: I think Sophie did a really good job. I think people are just holding on to past impressions.

Knox clearly said that he was going to arrest Jamie.

Well, it is two different kinds of killing. With Beardsley -- despite how he treated his "wives" and bond slaves -- it was a mercy killing and I'm not Catholic, but I don't think they go for that. So, Jamie had to come to terms with his God over that.
With regard to Knox, Jamie made it clear that he will stand against anyone who threatens his family and Knox would not only be hunting down Jamie's Godfather, but he would have known that Jamie was in Arsdmuir and go after him as well, which threatens his family's well-being. No matter how much Jamie appeared to be cozying up to the British, I can't imagine he sees killing a British soldier who was threatening his life and liberty the same way he sees killing a helpless stroke victim who did nothing to him.
My only side-eye went towards how fast Knox got that information sent to him.

Speaking of Sanders' proposals, Joe and one his panelists -- forget her name -- were going on and on about how, with "government run" health care, the government will pick your doctor, i.e., your specific primary doctor, pediatrician, etc. Is that what happens in other countries that have national health care? I didn't think so. They should be challenged on that!

I was surprised to find that Biden didn't have secret service protection as a former V.P., but apparently, he decided to go without after he left office. Of course, once someone is the nominee of the Dem party, they will get protection -- unless Trump tries to stop it.
