The combination of Josh spelling out B-O-U-R-G-E-S while holding up a picture of a rooster had me singing a round of the “C-h-i-c-k-e-n, that’s the way you spell chicken” song while watching this week’s episode.
Which made Mr. Blevins look at me like I’d grown an extra head, since he never went to Girl Scout camp and didn’t learn the song there, or ever. But then I started thinking. There are owls at the Girl Scout camp. And that’s where I watched the film “The Golden Eaglet,” which is about a gold bird. Sort of.
Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that the owl is buried at a French Girl Guide camp. Whoever finds it can thank me later.
It’s also possible that I should have gone to bed earlier and watched the episode when I was more awake. 🙄

I just had this horrible thought that they’ll give their kids alphabetical names — say, this one is Bethany and the next one is Charles and then Deborah etc. — so that people will ask why they started with ‘B’ and they can keep bringing up that miscarriage ...

The library in the town where my parents live is indeed inside the mall, and has been since at least the 1980s. It used to be this windowless bunker-like place that must not have originally been intended for public visitors (it was difficult to find and quite creepy to me as a child) but it’s since been connected to a regular storefront just down the escalators from the food court. (I’m sure the library staff love people bringing their food in, but then I’ve been to libraries that sell food, so who knows.)

Didn’t they show Priss & David’s wedding, and also Erin & Chad’s, back during the “19 Kids” days, before any of the 19, other than Josh, were married? They’ve run out of ideas (again) and are just reverting to copying old episodes (again).
My phone autocorrected “Priss” to “Pride.” Hah.
ETA: Upon thinking about this further, I actually think those weddings were more interesting because of the amount of time given to them (one episode). There wasn’t any of this watch-the-wedding-then-the-prep-then-the-wedding-again nonsense.

While I agree that Lauren seems to be a bit of a drama llama, I can also imagine them calming down a bit about it once they actually have a baby (either because time heals, because the actual baby is a distraction from the grief, or because the actual baby is a better way to get attention, if assuming the worst about them).

I assume this is an unpopular opinion, or at least uncommon, since the show got canceled, but my favorite court show of all time has to be The High Court with Doug Benson. The cases, from what I could tell, definitely rated the amount of seriousness given to them (none).
And I like Ree Drummond, too.

The preview for next week’s “special episode” seems to suggest that we’ll get the results then. But since that will have been filmed in at least late December, if my math is correct, it’s not like they’ll be able to do much with them until next season.

TMI, but I’ve had “normal” periods so heavy that I felt faint, without even the possibility of a miscarriage being involved. I don’t doubt that Lauren is a bit of a drama llama, but I could at least see a grain of truth behind that.

It was a while ago, but my recollection is that in the dream, he was using every awful cheesy pickup line possible — the worse, the better. So, yes, quite awkward.

My ex once dragged me to one of his math classes because I didn’t believe his stories about the professor’s antics. (I was right, he was exaggerating.) But it was a huge lecture class in a theater-style hall with plenty of extra seats; neither the professor nor the other students seemed to notice (or care about) one more person. If I’d arrived and it turned out to be a smaller class, I’d have turned around and walked out — I’d be embarrassed to interrupt a small class.

I had a job in the ‘90s where we always spelled “folks” as “folx” as a joke about a former coworker who couldn’t spell ... her clothes in the therapy picture would have fit right in there, too, if she’d been wearing jeans.

I haven’t had a chance to watch this yet — what does Christine think people in Seattle live in? My mom grew up in Seattle and claims someone once asked her if everyone lived in tipis around the foot of the Space Needle. Hopefully that rumor hasn’t stuck around this long ...

I think the fruity pebbles are supposed to be toppings for the waffles — like sprinkles, to go with the whipped cream.

Can I just say how happy I am to have this thread to read on the bus home today? (I’m on the West coast.) I had a lousy day today, my work computer literally fell apart (as in, it’s currently in multiple pieces), it’s freezing, and there’s a loud talker on the bus who won’t shut up. I saw that people were talking in here and it’s rather ridiculous how much better I felt when I realized I’d have this to distract me. So thank you, everyone!

At least they have a set of stock phrases they can use — just borrow some from all the birthday messages. Servant’s heart (won’t say who he’s serving), love for the Lord (just not actions that would follow), doting father (iffy husband), and so on. Doesn’t have to mean anything, just has to sound good.

We have something similar in our front hall for baseball hats — it uses 3M Command Hooks, not clothespins, but it works really well. Mr. Blevins is tall, so the top row is right up where crown molding would go (if our 1960s box had crown molding), so nobody accidentally knocks them down. We managed to fit two rows between the ceiling and the top of the coat rack. Not that it seemed to reduce the number of baseball hats sitting around, unfortunately.

Attack of the extra spaces!
I can think of a number of more-or-less public restrooms with windows (my first place of employment, several restaurants, a local mall before remodeling, the university’s hockey rink) but they’re all either frosted glass that doesn’t open, designed to let in free light but not views, or too high off the ground to be useful as an exit point.
There’s a posh business club around here that’s famous (infamous?) for the views from the restroom, but again, too high up to climb out of.
