Where Are They Now?: SYTYCD Alumni's Current Projects
Mason replied to ElectricBoogaloo's topic in So You Think You Can Dance
Randi (S5, of butt dance fame) has her own production company: http://strongproductions.com/ -
The kids gave it their all. Which reminded me that's why I watch every year. We may become jaded, but they never do.

Don't forget Evan Kasprzak. Nigel turned himself inside out, trying to keep him out of the Top 4.

Well, little sister will be in the Junior competition this fall: https://popculture.com/2018/08/01/dancing-with-the-stars-juniors-reveals-lineup-dancers-mentors/

Slavik has never been my favourite. However, as I noted at the top of the show, he was white as a ghost. He stayed like that all night. And at one point actually stated that he was finding the competition hard to keep up with. In that moment, I don't think he would have been sorry to leave, and not for lack of trying or ambition. Everything about his performances tonight screamed weariness and stress. To be honest, I felt for him. And here he lives to dance another week... Perhaps the voters are aiming for a tie, i.e. an actual showmance win.

So You Think You Can Dance Elsewhere
Mason replied to ElleTwoThree's topic in So You Think You Can Dance
So let's enjoy some Canadian House!! Both routines by Show-Tyme -
Poor Slavik was white as a ghost.

Yes, but for some reason I've been under the impression that they aren't going strictly by audience vote.

I am biased: I love DNA. Denys to begin with, but Antonina has been growing on me. They were not only spot on in each of their performances, they have demonstrated range. There is absolutely nothing to justify why Karen 6 Ricardo should score 10 points higher and earn a standing ovation. You want a non-American Latin couple going forward, fine. But they didn't need that high of a score to do so. (It also reminded me of poor Fikshun last year, who had danced his heart out and received high praise, only to be low-balled.)

I'm not disagreeing. But this way, TPTB have handpicked tour dancers right from the start. There's no pain involved in losing anyone, since they'll all be together again. Plus WofD has shown that judges can be as biased and self-serving as they like, so perhaps Nigel et al think why pretend anymore? Perhaps people aren't really voting anymore?

Ah, Mads... A wonderful dancer in his own right.

We need to remember that in terms of show experience, these kids are at Top Twenty. Normally, they'd have had several weeks of dancing with their partners/All Stars before making the Top Ten.

Anyone notice the very enthusiastic SO the choreographers gave Evan & Chelsea's first routine? I believe they were making a point... And let's hope Broadway is paying attention, and they get their chance.

If I remember correctly, they also competed in both smooth and latin which (at the time anyway) was rare.

Marissa (of the Heartbreakers) has upped the ante: now we have HMV360 as the standard to beat.
-
He had his face covered with his hands the rest of that segment.
-
You mean them all being Asian?
-
No... there look to be only 6 competition episodes, so I have to perk up :-)
-
And, finally, we get a 2 hour show!!

S15.E05: Academy 1 2018.07.09

I remember way back when she choreographed Boogie Shoes for LoFro & Billy Bell. She got heat from the judges for such a simplistic piece. Fast Forward to Lala Land, where she gets an Oscar for something very similar. Though a child of the disco era, I have always hated that song; however, this routine remains one of my favourites, precisely because it is light and fun. -
S15.E04: Auditions 4 2018.06.25

What was truly horrible is the discussion they had after he left... that TPTB thought necessary to broadcast.- 43 replies

Where Are They Now?: SYTYCD Alumni's Current Projects

Did the beginning remind anyone else of Buffalo Bill (from Silence of the Lambs)? -
Dog stole the show!

For those who were puzzled by, and disappointed in, Denys' & Antonina's performances/scores during the competition, check this out: http://www.ballroomdancetube.com/ballroom-wod-smooth-criminal-denys-antonina/ Same year, with a couple of lifts to boot.
