Wow, really? They kill off Pestilence right after we're introduced to her? So the other worldkillers essentially only had two episodes each. I mean, I guess it's good that the good guys get a 'win', but it's kind of a letdown when they were framed as a big threat, then they're taken out so quickly.

If you're going to have beings called World Killers then the least you could do is have the 3 of them go on a mayhem and destruction spree, maybe set to Ingrid Michaelson's "Warpath".  Justify the name and the threat.  At least Team Kara can claim a partial victory over their big bad, unlike the members of Team Flash. And another vote for not making Lena all out bad.  We've got big brother Lex for that.  I prefer that Lena continuing to have good motives but questionable means.

I missed Agents of SHIELD last night thanks to napping. I don't think there was any crossover. I can imagine the team having a great day, only for most of them to poof out. Everybody but Coulson, who just yells "COME ON!!!!!" Kinda want him to live. And now I want Loki to live, so he can admit to Phil that killing him was a dick move. "Eh, I got better." "You go to Tahiti? I hear it's a magical place." "Fuck you, Loki."

There was no crossover or mention on Agents of SHIELD but I'm thinking the mention and aftermath of the dusting/rapture/whatever-you-want-to-call-it will be dealt with in the final eps of the season. As for the actual movie itself I enjoyed it alot.  A few things stood out for me:

Loki's aka "Puny God" mention of having a Hulk to take on Thanos was obviously a call out to the first Avengers movie.  Only for it to go badly for both of them.

Drax's mancrush on Thor and Peter Quill's obvious jealousy.

The Proxima Midnight vs Black Widow, Scarlet Witch and Okoye fight in Wakanda.

Okoye's comment about Scarlet Witch about why she was was in the tower after demonstration an awesome power.

Also, after Winns dad was taken to jail, who did he stay with, has that ever been established? Was he adopted? Live with another relative? Was he a foster kid?

In an ep from last season he mentioned to Alex about being in a foster home.  Whether it was just one home or more than one while growing up I can't recall, but he definitely didn't mentioned his mother that time or living with other relatives.

And yes, the woman dropping appliances out her window was a scream.  :-)

I was thinking back in the day that part would have been maybe played by Helen Martin or LaWanda Page.  Apart from wondering how Lala got brought back from the dead, one question that I've had since the first ep is how does Black Lightning get around Freeland? Barry Allen as The Flash can run very fast, Kara Danvers aka Supergirl can fly, and even Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow has been shown to have a motorcycle.  When Jefferson is all suited up as Black Lightning it's not like he can call a cab or Uber or ride the bus to get to wherever he needs to be.  And I don't think the show ever mentioning him having the power to fly.

My takeaway...  Jayna Zod is awesome.

She could probably make the Terrance Stamp version of General Zod run and hide under a bed and Michael Shannon's run for his mommy.

I like the guys but I'm hoping the brother isn't TOO stupid.  He seemed to be walking the line. When they were first showing the 2 guys I thought they were together - not brothers.

Finally saw the pilot and that was my first thought about the brothers till the husband showed up. And even then I thought the brother who slept with the wife might have been bi. Too early to decide if it'll be must-watch-tv for me but for now at times it seems to be veering awfully close to being Jack McFarland: The Early Years.

I was thinking the same thing.  I would love it if they got a scene together comparing Stark Industry tech and Wakandan tech with Tony's coming up short on so many levels.

Kara finally found something that hurts more than seeing her boyfriend married to another woman.

    Seriously though, that was brutal.

I think that fight was the most brutal of the 3 shows not called Arrow.  Is this the first time that an opponent actually made Kara bleed?

I mean, if the bisexual lady and the lesbian have "sexy times," shouldn't Curtis and Singh have their own encounter?

If Barry hasn't completely messed up the timeline with his shennanigans, then Capt Singh is most definitely still married and he  doesn't strike me as the type of person to get some side action (apart from a a Big Belly Burger).

Was it mentioned or implied who Hela’s mother was?  I assume it wasn’t Frigga.

I don't recall the movie actually saying or implying who Hela's mother was.  But in remembering how rash and belligerent Thor was in the first movie that resulted in Odin sending him to Earth, I think Frigaa could have been Hela's mother as well.  In actual Norse mythology she was the daughter of Loki and a giantess named Angrboda.  When I first heard of Hela being the main villain I was wondering if the movie would keep the father /daughter relationship of Loki and Hela and surprised to find out she was going to be the big sister to Thor and Loki.  And after seeing all three Thor movies I noticed that the Asgardians really really love their capes.

These writers are making James look foolish. He asks Winn if he wants to fight crime tonight and Winn quickly rejects the proposal due to no chatter on the police dispatch all day (as if crime can't happen at night). His next choice of activity is to go bowling and Winn accepts (sealed with a high five)

I don't blame Winn for taking a night off from fighting crime, less likely to get hurt or worse from bowling.  With the main story, it could only be told on this show (well maybe Legends in an alternate timeline).  No one is going to look up to Oliver/Diggle/Green Arrow to worship anytime soon.  And the Flash doesn't exactly inspired awe with his speed-based powers either.  On the other hand, who wouldn't with the power set Kara (and Kal-El) has.  It drove Lex Luthor to do some pretty serious stuff that got him prison time and this ep has someone going in the opposite direction.  Certainly and interesting idea to explore even if the execution left alot to be desired. Just where and how did Chad Lowe's cult leader get that Kryptonian artifact? From a yard sale?

You would think that Sara and Ray could have found something better to do, being a world famous engineer and a well trained assassin, respectively. I`m sure someone is about to destroy Star City you guys, Team Arrow always needs backup! I guess being declared dead doesn't look great on a resume.

I'm willing to go with that she did try to contact Oliver and Company but wasn't able to since they were at Lian Yu.  As for Ray, leaving his company in Felicity's hand may not be the best business decision he made so no one was going to trust him to do something else to screw up.

Supergirl can't breathe underwater? Has Alex read any Superman / Supergirl comics? They do not breathe underwater. Besides, Supergirl has been to outer space several times.

That is a  real head scratcher right there, I"m pretty sure the Krypytonian duo can at least hold their breath underwater alot longer than the average human could.

I agree with everyone else on the point that they should have just done an updated version of KoQ. In the last show of the series, Doug & Carrie had decided to adopt the baby and did I dream it that Carrie was also pregnant? Either way, they could have shown them with a teenager (or more) now. We could have seen some of the others as well.

As it is now, it's pretty much KoQ-adjacent, with Kevin and Leah in the lead roles as a couple (kind of) and instead of Arthur living in the basement there's Chale living upstairs in the garage. With Gary Valentine playing a relative of Kevin. I was expecting to hear Donna's death mentioned early on in the ep with the wacky hi-jinks later on.  With Donna gone I was expecting a more mature Kevin Gable to step up to the plate, instead it was just more of the same man-child from season 1.

  15. I think this is the first time we've actually got a mention of Amy's father actually still being alive.  I was beginning to think that maybe he wasn't.  At some point I think the show will have to have him on screen, if only for him to meet and interact with his (future) son-in-law in the flesh (and cast a guest star for sweeps).

As for the Klingons, it bothers me that they chose to go with a totally different version of them.  I understood the later moves and TNG, and DS9 going with the new, ridged forehead warrior race Klingons over the TOS, almost human, mustache twirling, "Soviet" Klingons, and thought they were an improvement.  But for STD (I love that acronym!) to come up with a 3rd version of the Klingons who look and speak nothing like either of the prior 2 versions was a big distraction and totally unnecessary.  They looked more like Xindi Reptilians than Klingons and they speak more like Pakleds.

That's the major problem with the Klingons for me.  Why did TPTB felt they needed to redesign them yet again? They could have just kept them the same physically and redesign their outfits and ships to reflect an earlier time.

This device of killing-off-the-wife will not work.  This show, which was hugely funny and popular, will fizzle and die.  Really sorry they had to do this with Leah Remini.  Wrong move, show.  Buh-bye.

The only show I can recall that got away with that was Valerie/Valerie's Family/The Hogan Family back in the 80's with Valerie Harper being replaced by Sandy Duncan.  But that was an otherwise different circumstance behind the scenes.  In this case the two younger kids could go and I wouldn't miss them at all. But I do like Chale and his interactions with Kevin so he (and the oldest daughter) can stay for the 2nd season.

In fairness, in this case, the Not!Goa'uld in this case have superpowers and significant tech advantages (ships, shields, teleportation tech, and mind control) over Earth.

It is kind of silly that they are carrying weapons with their abilities. And it is kind of silly that Guardian/Alex/Maggie are not smears on the pavement after encountering more than one.

But for the most part, it makes sense that, let's say, 1,000 Daxamites could fairly easily capture a city of, let's say, 3 million.

At the risk of overthinking all of this, from Rhea's point of view conquering and ruling Earth as New Daxam would probably be the best option.  First of all Earth is probably far down the galactic totem pole in the scheme of things, so it's not likely anyone else is going to come to its aid.  Secondly as been mentioned before, Daxamites would have superpowers here and the subjugated population won't. Furthermore why spend who knows how many years rebuilding a devastated planet when you can conquer a new one in a short time that comes with a ready-made slave labor pool of a billion or so.  One question I have regarding the ep is that since J'onn is out of action for the time being and Alex is now acting head of the DEO, would that be over the entire organization in the country or just for the National City office with separate branches in, for example, Metropolis and Gotham City, and can potentially ask them for help?

  19. A decent story for James this ep so maybe going forward the Guardian stuff can be put on the back burner for awhile at least if not sidelined altogether.  I did have to laugh at the mention of what was a 99.999999% confirmation for you-know-who existing in the Arrowverse.

You noticed; right around the time of "The Destiny Of The Daleks!" We hadn't heard of them and couldn't believe the producers went to all that trouble aesthetically seeing as they were attractive with the dreds and hot space suits! ;-)

I wonder if the Movellans are coming back later in the season since they haven't been seen in such a long time (Tom Baker's era).  As for Bill, I liked her introduction.  Hopefully they don't turn her into The Most! Special! Companion! Evaahh!! like they did with Rose.  And that she has a better fate in store for her than Donna and Clara.
