  1. This season is much better than last season. I was fine with Drew leaving- it was a meat/grill challenge, and he chose to cook only one item from that amazing butcher shop. Also, he annoyed me when he made smug comments about the other team cooking steak (as if he owns steak) and serving beer (which is the traditional accompaniment to SE Asian cuisine).

My completely unsolicited and overthought feelings about the remaining chefs:

Ivan- probably my all-around top pick. Solid chef, and he seems very easy going and even tempered.

Austin- I like him way more than I thought I would. I'll be interested to see how he does next week as "Capo" (stupid term- just call them chef).

Hanna- She's a better chef than I originally thought, but too much of a control freak. These people are your fellow chefs/contestants, not your hourly employees. I have worked with women like her over the years (I'm a female in the industry). She likes being the only woman around. She gave Stikxz a big hug at the end, but she was very quick to throw her under the bus in her interview. She definitely wants to be the last woman standing.

Stikxz- I'm still on the fence about her cooking. I don't like how many dried spices she uses while she's in Italy in the summer and surrounded by fresh herbs.

Devan- I was impressed with him at first, but he has been hit-or-miss since then.

Phuoc- I like him. I'm not sure if he's technically as adept as some of the others, but I can definitely see him making it to the finals.

Zev- I could not stand that Dopey look alike at the beginning, but he has grown on me. He reminds me of several men I have worked with who rub everyone the wrong way, but end up being your fiercest advocate and most reliable person in the kitchen. He could win if he doesn't piss everyone off too much.

  2. Let me translate what Jojo said: Dakayla- you were in the bottom a bunch, but then we realized we could play up a bs love story so now you’re a top dancer.

As for the group dance with the all stars, it reinforced my opinion that Jaylin had no business being in this competition. He looks like most of the kids you see on TikTok to me. Absolutely nothing about his dancing stands out aside from his over the top mugging.

What an absolute waste of a season. I used to love this show.

Do the Native Americans not use Buffalo (bison) milk? I know that buffalo milk is used to make mozzarella cheese in other cultures, so I was surprised that there was no dairy available.
I have read that many native Americans are lactose intolerant, so maybe that’s why dairy isn’t popular. But it seems odd that  the indigenous people wouldn’t find some use for every animal product, including the milk.

Mozzarella is made from Water Buffalo milk.

    Okay.
So there was a missing or cut line to explain that?

He was the patient that Allison was treating at the beginning of the episode. He had been in repeatedly for tennis- I mean stripper- elbow.

I didn't have a problem with what Danny did because it was out of desperation, and he (and the majority of the rest of them) openly did not understand the challenge.

I agree but would have preferred to see Savannah or Dan win based on the fact that they each made a tasty dish that embraced the spirit of the challenge.

They wasted all that time on red herrings like the ventriloquist and pastor, going so far as to include them in the episode description when they had nothing to do with anything.

How could they not go for the low-hanging fruit? Come on- a ventriloquist? I've been watching these shows for a lot of years, and I'm pretty sure this was the first ventriloquist I've seen in the mix, red herring or otherwise. How could they possibly resist?

  7. Madison is by far my favorite dancer on the show. I hope her injury doesn't take her out.

Easton is a wonderful dancer, but he reminds me of a competition dancer more than a professional. He just needs to trade in his Zoolander expression for some swag and he should have a career.

  8. I know the judges need to come up with complaints about everyone so the results are not completely obvious, but come on- dinging Steven for not hand painting both side of his butterflies when he put up the cake he put up (vs. the hot messes that did not look like stained glass from Robert and Nickey)?!?

  9. Apparently I didn’t have to actually watch this episode to know that the two women would be on the top, and the two men would have to battle it out. Don’t care about the actual food- just glad that Jordan is off my tv.

And if the fix is in, the nurse with the special needs child (and one of the most annoying voices I’ve ever heard) will win the season.

  10. Glad that Jaylin is finally gone. There was no there there. He didn’t even stand out in the opening number which was in his style. If they have changed the show to be about dancers who can work now in commercial dance, someone with zero technique had no business taking this opportunity from someone who could have used this show as a stepping stone.

  11. I would be happy to see the top 4 from this episode be the top 4 of the season.

Kaleena continues to annoy me. From her ‘I’m back bitches’ spiel, to her being concerned that the judges didn’t ‘get’ the heaviness of her dish rather than being concerned that they didn’t like it. I hope she’s gone again very soon.

Well that is some major BS, in my opinion. Not once but twice Tom has the chance to pick someone over Soo and no, by golly, they are both so good they get to continue on - this time back (or introduced into, finally) the Top Chef Kitchen.

I generally avoid conspiracies but the sense that the fix was in to get Soo into the competition at all costs is just unshakeable for me.

I'm fine with it because I have a very strong dislike for Kaleena, and I like Soo (and his cooking) so far. Charly seems like a lovely person, but his cooking was underwhelming all season. I did not like the shade that Valentine was showing at Soo- way too much ego for someone who was the second contestant sent home.

I wish they took cost into consideration -- tres leches cake is a fairly cheap dessert to make, and the fact that hers was soggy and overly sweet and the cocktail didn't go with it meant she wasted that budget.

Tres leches cake may well be a fairly cheap dessert to make, but apparently adding that fourth leche puts it in a different stratosphere.

  14. Braylon and Easton were in danger of going home, but Jaylin and Roman were safe? Please. I guess this isn’t actually going to be a dance competition. Also, I want to see the solos, not closeups of the judges watching the solos. Madison was the stand out of the female dancers for me.

  15. I'll likely watch this, but I do not need watch to know how awful this brand is. I once brought my daughter into one of their shops. At the time she was five feet tall and barely 85 pounds. Everything she tried on was 'one size fits all', and everything was the correct size for her. I was nauseated and angered by how this must make an average sized child feel.
