Finished Lovecraft Country last night.  I thought the whole thing was wonderful.  very imaginative, different and providing a needed voice.  and when you think about it, the women had larger and more important roles than the men (well, except for one man)

I get where some people thought "the middle" was tangential or slow, but it was necessary.  you can't skip over Ji-Ah's story or you won't understand her part at the end.  same with Montrose's story part, and Hippolyta, Ruby, Dee, etc.  you need all those chapters to get to the end, where everything comes together.  

 I was very disappointed to hear that HBO cancelled the show and there won't be a second season.  i get that the story would have to be different, no more original source material, and a main character gone (well, we think - who knows given that book), but the hints of what the second season would have included are so interesting that I'm really sad it won't be coming.
