Milz September 22, 2014 Share September 22, 2014 I liked this episode with the meat katsu. I'll have to try the soy marinated egg. Link to comment
Anosumimasen September 22, 2014 Share September 22, 2014 Me too! It looks like a good thing to pack for lunch. Patrick blended in with the potted plants in that camouflage shirt. 1 Link to comment
Milz October 6, 2014 Share October 6, 2014 That beef and taro looked good. I'll have to use the cooking technique (not mxing the meat and veg together while cooking) the next time I braise beef with veg. Link to comment
Anosumimasen October 12, 2014 Share October 12, 2014 I've never had taro. I wonder what the taste and texture is compared to potatoes. They sure had to wash it alot to get rid of the slime. I'd give it a whirl, though. Nabe Hot Pot up this week. Five kinds of mushrooms. Oishii! Link to comment
Milz October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 The texture is like a potato, but the taste isn't. It's hard to describe the taste other than starchy. A new episode is on next week: deep frying. 1 Link to comment
Milz October 20, 2014 Share October 20, 2014 Hi Bella! Another Dining with the Chef fan! Hooooray! Link to comment
Milz October 27, 2014 Share October 27, 2014 The deep fried fish frame looked better than I thought it would. I've had deep fried cellophane noodles and they are cheese curls crunchy, but a deep fried udon noodle......I don't know about that! Link to comment
Anosumimasen November 3, 2014 Share November 3, 2014 I passed up some fresh sardines at the fish store last weekend because I didn't feel like grilling. Next time I see them I'll know what to do. I love unagi with that sauce. So interesting the way Chef deboned them with his hands. Link to comment
Milz November 17, 2014 Share November 17, 2014 Yeah, that knife-less deboning technique was cool! I'll have to try it the next time sardines or herrings look good at the market. The nori-wrapped chicken tenders looked good this week. Link to comment
Milz November 17, 2014 Share November 17, 2014 Don't forget to vote for the 2014 Viewer's Choice! Link to comment
Anosumimasen November 17, 2014 Share November 17, 2014 I already voted! Last year they used one of my comments about At Home with Venetia. Was the question about trouble viewing directed to me? Occasionally, I will get a poor signal or no signal. That is related to the satellite transmission, I believe. 1 Link to comment
Anosumimasen November 17, 2014 Share November 17, 2014 We love Kakiage with Udon and broth. I usually use shrimp and squid with veggies. Link to comment
Milz December 16, 2014 Share December 16, 2014 I voted but didn't leave any comments. The schedule is already up on the website. I figured the Bento special would be on it. Link to comment
Milz December 29, 2014 Share December 29, 2014 Since the Soba Noodles special wasn't a one-off, I think the Artisan Editions should get its own thread. Anyhow, this Sushi show was great! Now I can tell my know-it-all "foodie" friends that sushi is about the rice, not the fish, unlike sashimi which is all about the fish. Link to comment
Anosumimasen January 8, 2015 Share January 8, 2015 The chef was on Parts Unknown. He's an interesting guyl. Wish I could eat at his Tokyo restaurant. I love sushi. 1 Link to comment
Anosumimasen March 3, 2015 Share March 3, 2015 Finally. I got a kick out of Saito's cheesecloth celery. Link to comment
Anosumimasen March 3, 2015 Share March 3, 2015 Me too. Makes for a nice change. I wonder what Seira and Kathy are up to now. I've seen Kathy hosting a Journey in Japan and acting as a reporter since she left DWTC. But Seira, is there any hope for her? Link to comment
Milz March 3, 2015 Share March 3, 2015 Finally. I got a kick out of Saito's cheesecloth celery. Yeah, that was an odd technique. Link to comment
Anosumimasen March 16, 2015 Share March 16, 2015 I thought she was a model and actress. Link to comment
Milz March 16, 2015 Share March 16, 2015 Hmmm..well, I'm glad she isn't doing the artisan specials. I don't think I could bear watching her walrus clap while visiting that rice stick place in Akita. Link to comment
Milz April 6, 2015 Share April 6, 2015 Wow. They're changing the schedule for this show. Moving it from Sunday EST to Friday EST. Link to comment
Milz April 20, 2015 Share April 20, 2015 first off I hate the schedule change because I missed last week's episode. Secondly, microwaving a white sauce was a fantastic idea. Link to comment
Anosumimasen April 22, 2015 Share April 22, 2015 How did I miss that? I agree, I'm used to tuning in on Sunday evening. Link to comment
Milz May 26, 2015 Share May 26, 2015 I hate that they changed the time and day for this show. I keep missing it! Link to comment
Anosumimasen May 27, 2015 Share May 27, 2015 Me too! I think I missed it already this week. I make Rika's whole meal last week though. Ginger beef, cucumber and salted Kombu salad and cold soba with the spicy dipping sauce. Terrific! Link to comment
Milz July 31, 2015 Share July 31, 2015 At least they now have on-demand streaming. :-) Link to comment
Milz August 10, 2015 Share August 10, 2015 I really wish they move Dining With the Chef back to Sunday nights EST! Anyhow, I wonder if the eel dries out at all after grilling, steaming, then grilling again? Link to comment
Milz May 25, 2016 Share May 25, 2016 Wow, this show got picked up by some PBS stations! Link to comment
