Red Sonja

The current run of Red Sonja (from Dynamite) is pretty good! And that's because it's written by Gail Simone, who's really good. And apparently she likes putting inside jokes into her comics, because this weeks issue (#7) has characters based on Scott Aukerman, Paul Scheer, Kulap Vilaysack, and Howard Kremer, all from the Earwolf family of podcasts. They have cunningly disguised names  like "S'kott and K'lap."

I like Gail Simone a lot. I'll read anything she puts out . . . but after six issues of Red Sonja, I jumped off the wagon. I don't think I'm into swords and chain mail, even if the heroine is more snarky than usual.
