Can We Start a Season 1 Thread

I just started watching Rectify on Netflix; I'm up to S1:E3 and would love to discuss it. Unfortunately I can't seem to find any threads prior to Season 2. If there is one and I missed it could you point me in the direction. If not, is anyone else a new watcher of this show who wants to discuss?

I would definitely be up for that - I just started watching and am up to S1:E2.  I never have access to any of Sundance's shows, so I am definitely late to the party on this one.

Me too; seems we are at the same spot basically. At least we can chat with each other :) So, I think the brother is law is shady in someway. My husband seems to think that his wife just became distant because she got interested in Daniel once released from prison but I think there was alot going on to lead to her disdain for Teddy. I don't know why but she seems so young I feel like maybe her family married her off at 16 or something and he has been really abusive and controlling behind closed doors. Its been about a week since I watched tyring to remember what else I wanted to discuss. The sister, Amantha obviously has some issues too; maybe just hardened and angry that she doesn't feel her family fought hard enough for her brother. At first it seemed she was acting sort of innapropriately with the brother, like maybe they were gonna go in an incest direction but Im glad to see I don't think they are.

What are your thoughts so far?

I totally agree that the brother-in-law is creepy - I mean, who buys a porn magazine for ... well, anyone, really, but especially after hearing the story that Daniel told him while they were hitting golf balls.  I also agree about his wife (is her name really Tawny? It can't be, can it?) - she seems very young.  The other thing that strikes me about her is that she seems sincerely religious, but there's something about it that seems to be a fearful religious instead of a joyous religious.  It might have something to do with your observation about being married young and having Teddy be somewhat abusive - I think that's definitely possible or even likely, though it's hard to get a good read on it so early on.

I watched the third episode last night - I don't want to spoil anything, except I will say that the music brought me RIGHT BACK to high school and I remembered all of the lyrics.  (Yes, I am a child of the '90's, I admit it.)

Totally agree about getting the fearful religious vs, joyful religious vibe with her. I definitely get the feeling she is with him through some obligation she feels and that could be a big part of it. Gonna try to watch 3 and 4 if I can tonight. As a child of the 90s myself I'm super excited to see what the music is. I'm guessing is something more along the lines of my so-called life soundtrack vs pop hits like mmbop or something lol just bc the show is on the darker side, that style of music is more up my alley but I'm not gonna lie I'd be equally as excited if it was something totally unexpected like spice girls or something
