zxy556575 June 5, 2015 Share June 5, 2015 (edited) I enjoyed the first ep with Julia Louis-Dreyfuss, mostly because of their genuine fondness and ease with each other. Even though some are less successful, I'm glad Jerry has continued to include guests other than stand-up comics. But then, I love this show in general and am very forgiving. If I'm having a difficult day I just watch Ricky Gervais on a constant loop as he claws at the dashboard and screams in fear. I've probably also watched the eps with Larry David and Fred Armisen 20 times. I'm curious if there are going to be new Acura ads for this season. The ones with Dan Granite ("I sell cars. You sell you.") garnered a bit of attention in the ad world. If that really was JLD's house, she's living in a very normal looking, un-gated neighborhood smack up against her neighbors just like the rest of us. Edited June 5, 2015 by lordonia 3 Link to comment

Soobs July 1, 2015 Share July 1, 2015 I'm not loving this season as much as the others so far. It seems a little boring. The Bill Maher bit in the park was good but as soon as they sat down they sounded like two grumpy old guys past their prime. And I like the older comedian eps like the one with Carl Reiner and Mel Brooks and also Don Rickles episode. Those were great. Julia Louis Dreyfuss interrupting to gab with Jerry's wife about expensive clothes; it was like something some snooty rich lady would do, even though she lives in a somewhat normal house. Jim Carrey's episode was okay but I didn't laugh much. His whole new age schtick with his giant, terrible paintings just ruined it for me. It also seemed like something an out-of-touch, rich person with a giant ego would do. In the other seasons even when they were doing rich person things (like going on Louie's yacht) they joked about how lame it was and the jokes were funny. I also liked the car they picked for Bill Maher. That was really funny. I guess this season is more hit or miss for me and the others were 90% hit. Link to comment
zxy556575 July 9, 2015 Author Share July 9, 2015 I truly think my favorite part is Jerry introducing the car at the beginning, and explaining why he selected it for a particular guest. He's such a gearhead and it's fun to see his enthusiasm. "Arctic Frost Blueberry Twizzlers." Link to comment

I don't agree with all of it, of course, but it's interesting that he spends his time thinking about such things and is looking for some sort of answer. And that he is willing to act it out in front of us. As for the painting, I can see the appeal in painting, it seems like it would be a very relaxing thing to do. I would like to try it, but so far I haven't found the time. For a person with a creative personality, like Carrey, painting would be a nice release for him, I'm sure. I don't see it as an ego thing. Now the fact that he has held a showing and put his painting in a gallery at high prices, the fact that he thinks he's good, that might be ego. But I can understand why he enjoys it. And truthfully, I actually like some of them. Also loved the car in this episode, the '65 Lamborghini. What a cool looking car. 12 cylinders! Link to comment
