Someone please clue me in to why Stella does not want to give birth herself.  I must have missed something.  Also, as an adoptive mother it burns me how quickly these characters get selected to have a child.  The one realistic episode I saw was on The Rookie when Nolan and his wife were rejected because of how many times they had been in serious dangerous situations.

Because she can't do her job as a Truck Lieutenant while pregnant. She'd have to go on desk duty for the entirety of her pregnancy and then take maternity leave and she's not willing to put her career on hold for at least one whole year right now. Makes sense to me. 

Also, I made a similar comment in the episode thread (where this original comment should have been posted, maybe?) about the fact that I liked seeing them face adversity and that the adoption process isn't super fast with all sunshine and rainbows.

Honestly, she doesn't give a reason why she doesn't want to. There is the possibility that she is afraid what happened to her aunt will happen to her though that isn't the way Postpartum Depression happens however because she has a family history of it there is a higher chance of her having it but that is not a guarantee it will happen. She just tells Kelly she isn't sure she wants to and that is all she says about it.
