A Man on the Inside is 8 (half-hour) episode Comedy TV Series streaming on November 21, 2024 on Netflix, based on a 2021 Documentary, The Mole Agent, where an 83-year-old man is sent undercover to a retirement home in Santiago, Chile that is suspected of neglect, only to form a deep human connection with the residents. 

Charles, a retired professor/teacher who is a little despondent since his wife died a year ago, gets a new lease on life when his daughter, Emily, tries to coax him out of his rut, suggesting he should try something new and exciting. 

Charles responds to an ad to help Private Investigator (PI), Julie, with her latest case and Charles becomes a mole in a undercover investigation.

Evan has hired Julie to investigate the theft of his mother's necklace, a family heirloom, from the Pacific View Retirement Home in San Francisco. Charles  enters the Pacific View Retirement Home as their newest resident and compiles a suspect list from the staff and residents. 

But once Charles starts to open up and get to know the residents, his world view starts expanding. 

Marc Evan Jackson as Evan, the client who hires Julie to investigate the theft of his mother's necklace. 

 

Lilah Richcreek Estrada as Julie, Charles' pretend daughter, a San Francisco-based private investigator, Julie hires Charles to be her mole and pretends to be his daughter to maintain the ruse at the retirement home.

Ted Danson as Charles, a retired man, gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad from a PI and becomes a mole in a secret investigation.

 

Mary Elizabeth Ellis as Emily, Charles' actual daughter, a married mother of three boys who has to adjust when her father Charles makes a surprising late-life career move and becomes an undercover detective.

Eugene Cordero as Joel, Emily's husband, a supportive and exceedingly competent 10th grade science teacher.

Lori Tan Chinn as Susan, the President of the Pacific View resident council, which she rules with an iron fist.

Jama Williamson as Beatrice, the Pacific View Activities Director, Beatrice has never had a bad day in her life.

Stephanie Beatriz as Didi, the all-seeing, all-knowing managing director of the Pacific View Retirement Residence in San Francisco.
 

Susan Ruttan as Gladys, a glamorous former costume designer from New York, Gladys lives next door to Charles at Pacific View.

 

Stephen Mckinley Henderson as Calbert, a transplant from Washington, D.C., Calbert is the stoic eyes and ears of the Pacific View community. a man Charles befriends on the inside

Sally Struthers as Virginia, the vivacious life of the party, Virginia immediately takes a shine to Charles.

Margaret Avery as Florence, Virginia's sweet best friend, Florence loves poetry and the Golden State Warriors in equal measure.

John Getz as Elliott, Pacific View's resident lothario. Elliott immediately feels threatened by all the attention Charles gets when he moves in.

Clyde Kusatsu as Grant, a Princeton grad at Pacific View, who is deeply concerned with you knowing he is a Princeton grad.
