AnimeMania October 5 Share October 5 Sweetpea is a 6 episode Comedy Drama TV Series airing on October 1, 2024 on STARZ. Sweetpea is based on a series of books by C.J. Skuse, Sweetpea (2017), In Bloom (2018), Dead Head (2021), Thorn in my Side (2023), with a fifth and final book "The Bad Seeds" due in October 2024. Sweetpea follows Rhiannon Lewis, your average girl next door, who doesn’t make much of an impression, people walk past her in the street without a second glance. Rhiannon lives quietly with her boyfriend, who just won’t commit and a little dog. By day she goes to her demeaning and unsatisfying job as a receptionist at a local newspaper, The Carnsham Gazette, in the small town of Carnsham. Rhiannon is constantly overlooked for a promotion. By night Rhiannon dutifully listens dutifully to her friends' plans about marriage and babies. Even though she is caring for a father who is very ill, while her sister is off living her best life abroad with her husband, Rhiannon never complains, smiling through it all with endless reserves of serenity and a sparkling wit. She has become skilled at keeping it together. Being normal. But behind this mask is a ferocious power waiting to be unleashed, and a long-buried secret that Rhiannon wishes she could forget. A chance encounter with a stranger reveals that Rhiannon's life is not as quiet as it would appear. With a shocking act of violence, Rhiannon is pushed over the edge and she loses control, her mask slips, and she is forced to confront a darker side she has long kept hidden, her mental To-Do List of people who need killing. Rhiannon’s life transforms as she leans into a journey of self-discovery, as she embraces her new power in this deviously twisted "coming of rage" story. Can Rhiannon, who has developed a "taste for murder", manage to evade the police, while struggling to maintain her grasp on reality? Ella Purnell as Rhiannon Lewis, a receptionist at the local newspaper by day Jeremy Swift as Norman, the editor of the Carnsham Gazette, who gives Rhiannon the nickname "Sweetpea", he becomes really impressed by Rhiannon's emerging journalistic skills as the city comes to grips with a major crisis. Calam Lynch as AJ, the new junior reporter at the Carnsham Gazette, the job Rhiannon wanted. Jon Pointing as Craig, a handyman who used to work for Rhiannon's father's construction company, who hopes to one day purchase the business. Rhiannon and he have a slight bit of history, that Rhiannon hasn't forgotten. Nicôle Lecky as Julia Blenkingsopp, a school bully that Rhiannon is jealous of because she is a cool and successful estate agent with a thriving career, an ideal fiance, and the perfect home. Julia has recently returned to Carnsham.
