“Disclaimer” is a gripping psychological thriller in seven chapters starring Academy Award winners Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline. Written and directed by five-time Academy Award winner Alfonso Cuarón, “Disclaimer” is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Renée Knight. Acclaimed journalist Catherine Ravenscroft (Blanchett) built her reputation revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of others. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secrets.

As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront her past before it destroys both her own life and her relationships with her husband, Robert (Sacha Baron Cohen), and their son, Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee).

The ensemble cast includes Lesley Manville, Louis Partridge, Leila George and Hoyeon.

The seven-episode limited series will make its global debut on Friday, October 11, 2024 with its first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through November 15, 2024.

Cuarón serves as executive producer alongside Esperanto Filmoj’s Gabriela Rodriguez and Anonymous Content’s David Levine and Steve Golin. Knight serves as co-executive producer. Academy Award winner Emmanuel Lubezki (“Gravity,” “Birdman,” “The Revenant”) and Academy Award nominee Bruno Delbonnel (“The Tragedy of Macbeth,” “Inside Llewyn Davis,” “Darkest Hour”) serve as directors of photography and executive produce. Donald Sabourin and Carlos Morales also executive produce. The score is composed by multiple Academy and Grammy Award winner Finneas O’Connell (“Barbie,” “No Time to Die”).

“Disclaimer” is a 7 episode TV Series streaming on October 11, 2024 on Apple TV+, based on a 2015 novel of the same name by Renée Knight. Catherine Ravenscroft is an acclaimed journalist who has built her reputation by revealing the misdeeds and transgressions of long-respected institutions. When she receives a novel from an unknown author, she is horrified to realize she is now the main character in a story that exposes her darkest secret. A secret she thought was hers alone. As Catherine races to uncover the writer’s true identity, she is forced to confront the past before it destroys her life and her relationship with her husband Robert and their son Nicholas.

Cate Blanchett as Catherine Ravenscroft, a successful and respected television documentary journalist. Her life is disrupted when a novel appears on the nightstand by her bed with the disclaimer, “Any resemblance to persons living or dead is not a coincidence”. The book chronicles a time in her youth that she had hoped would have stayed buried.

Leila George as (young) Catherine Ravenscroft, a young married mother who encounters a charming young man in Italy

Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nicholas, Robert and Catherine's 20-something year old son with financial and substance abuse problems 

Hoyeon (Jung Ho-yeon) as Kim, she is ambitious, hardworking, eager-to-please and believes that working for Catherine Ravenscroft is going to be her big break.

Kevin Kline as Stephen Brigstocke, a widowed teacher, who's finds a new purpose in life, revenge 

Lesley Manville as Nancy, a woman who spent the rest of her life devastated by her young son's untimely death. 

Louis Partridge as Jonathan Brigstocke, son of Nancy and Stephen, a teenager on a gap year, traveling through Italy, who drowned two decades ago.
