Parasyte: The Grey is a 6 episode live-action TV series streaming April 5, 2024 on Netflix. It is loosely based on Hitoshi Iwaaki’s sci-fi horror manga Parasyte, which was first published from 1989. Parasyte: The Maxim was a 24 episode 2014 Japanese animation based on the Parasyte Manga. There were also two live-action Parasyte movies. The manga, anime and movies centered around a high school boy named Shinichi Izumi, whose right hand gets possessed by a parasite called Migi. Together, they go up against other alien parasites that are taking over other humans. The parasites are alien creatures who must invade and take control of a human host to survive. Once they have infected their victims, they can assume any deadly form they choose: monsters with giant teeth, winged demons, creatures with blades for hands, but most have chosen to conceal their lethal purpose behind ordinary human faces. So no one knows their secret, except one ordinary high school student.

Parasyte: The Grey TV Series is an entirely new story set in a completely different location with fresh characters. The TV Series charts its own unique course while maintaining the imaginative world and profound message of Hitoshi Iwaaki’s manga. At the center of the story is Su-in, as she grapples with her newfound coexistence with her parasite, Heidi. The TV Series also tracks the efforts of Team Grey, a military group dedicated to fighting the mysterious parasites that take over humans.

Jeon So-nee as Jeong Su-in, who has been able to retain her humanity because the parasite fails to take over her brain, this makes her one of the few people that can stop the parasitic life-forms’ invasion plans. Jeong Su-In and her parasite, Heidi, begin to work together.

Koo Kyo-hwan as Seol Kang-woo, a man driven to fight parasites in his quest to find his missing younger sister, while hiding from a parasite that is hunting him.

Lee Jung-hyun as Choi Jun-kyung, the determined leader of the anti-parasite military task force, “Team Grey”. She has lost her husband to the parasites and her life goal is to eradicate the Parasytes.
