Snazzy Daisy January 22 Author Share January 22 (edited) This episode is filled with tensions and uncertainties. June 1940 - the Nazis have arrived in Paris. Quote “There’s no fashion in France because of the war. The factories are focused on the war. Without fabrics, there’s no fashion.” - Coco Chanel The Germans forbid fabric imports and limit the number of designs per showcase. Cristóbal and Nicolas smuggle their fabrics from Spain. There’s a gossip about Coco Chanel and a much younger German officer having rendezvous at The Ritz, oooooh scandalous. Quote “High fashion has always served the elite class. It wasn’t about resistance or collaboration. It was about survival.” - Cristóbal Balenciaga Wladzio’s extravagant hats are grabbing more attention and overshadowing Cristóbal’s designs. Cristóbal isn’t happy with this and asks Wladzio to design less extravagant hats. Unexpectedly, Maison Balenciaga has been shut down for 3 months after being accused of inciting rebellion through provocative hats. For real? Instead of arguing with Cristóbal about the hat fiasco, Wladzio has intuitively given him the best advice - do something different by focusing on own technique. Wladzio is such a sweetheart. 💕 19 August 1944 - the Occupation has ended. Edited January 22 by Snazzy Daisy Link to comment
