Lorna still hasn’t slept, and she has no intention of doing so until she finds out what Aoife Cassidy knew. 

The town’s laundry survivors are campaigning for justice, and Lorna discovers that Aoife spoke to another survivor. Past betrayals emerge to the surface and end in tragedy. 

Colman and local guard Massey join forces to track down Father Percy’s murderer. Key evidence has been destroyed, but Colman identifies his murder suspect as Aoife Cassidy, whilst Lorna’s strange behaviour brings her to his attention. And there’s something about this town that is really starting to get under Colman’s skin.

Lorna finds out the dead woman’s name - Aoife.

She is terrible at going UC, a bit clumsy and her signature Joan-of-Arc hairstyle is easy to recognize. Lorna goes to meet Aoife’s husband, Dara O’Halloran at a pub for more info. He tells her that Aoife is looking for Clemence.

Dara is then arrested by the Garda on the murder of Father Percy as he was seen driving the priest’s car in CCTV footage. He confesses, obviously covering for someone.

Colman and Sgt. Massey speak to Sister Eileen about Aoife. She asks them not to call Aoife “sister” because she hasn’t completed her final vow. Sister Eileen describes Aoife as lovely but troubled. Colman asks if Aoife ever worked at the Mother and Baby Home. Sister Eileen claims that kind of home never existed, it was a training center. 

It is revealed that Colman was born in one of the Mother & Baby Homes linked to a Magdalene laundry. So this is personal to him.

The flashback with young Clemence and young Lorna is truly heartbreaking. They planned to escape the convent with their babies. They sneaked into a nursery but got caught by 3 nuns. Clemence was restrained and they took away her baby. They forcefully cut her hair while Sister Eileen (Mother Superior) awarded Lorna. Lorna insisted to see her baby but she’s unable to recognize her.

Back to the present, Lorna admits that she has been forced to reveal their plan. Lorna asks Clemence what Aoife has told her about their children. Clemence promises to tell her everything tomorrow.

Later that night, Clemence has been found dead on her bedroom’s floor.
